Friendly staff and helped me out in getting my best friend. The info they gave me on him helped me in deciding he was the right pick for me. If you like a dog but seams to active for you have them get the animal in a room as Thomas was a different dog once I got him in the room. And we do everything together now.

We adopted a kitten from the Humane Society this fall. He is really healthy, thanks to their care - no parasites, etc. And he seemed to have a great childhood. He has exactly zero fears and likes to follow the vacuum cleaner around. We adore our cuddly, playful little guy.

disappointed by the lack of programs offered. Most cities offer pet emergency assistance. they only thing you offer is help killing your pet #shame

Disinfectant is the first thing you smell and you willbe glad of your mask. And that is a good thing, given what they do. Everything is spotlessly clean. They make the emotionally charged experience of looking for a new pet a pleasant with a staff of mostly volunteers. They have space to meet a pet outside and in. They have an online presence that is well maintained.

Turned down a loving, caring, clean foster family just because I told them I don't like the thought of euthanasia. I said that I understand that it's sometimes necessary, but don't like it. That's why you turn down a foster family? Really?

I was told if I brought my lease, that I could get the cat. Then when I got there it changed!! I felt like I got the run around!! Then when I was finally able to get the cat she wasn't ready!!

We had a very pleasant experience when adopting our new fur baby. The staff seems dedicated to making certain that the animals and the family are a good match. They certainly set your new family member up for success. When the time comes to adopt again, we will definitely be paying CCHS a visit. ????

Exceptionally well maintained facility, staff is very friendly and provides a ton of useful information about medical history and pet ownership, application processing time was quick, and most importantly our new cat is very healthy physically and socially.

I had a wonderful experience working with CCHS to adopt my cat. The process was reasonably quick and easy to navigate even with additional Covid-19 precautions and procedures in place. The staff were also happy to answer any questions I had leading up to the adoption and after I took him home. If you encounter any medical issues or behavioral problems after going home they have specialists available to advise you. During the adoption process I got to hear from staff members about how much they loved spending time with my boy during his stay at the shelter and it made me feel like they are very passionate about their work here. Most of all I am very happy to have my little cuddle buddy home with me and everyone here made it possible!

Talk about a stickler for a rule. We bought some grain-free dog food which began upsetting are current German Shepherds digestive system. So I only went here to donate a full bag and half a bag of this dog food. Door was locked when I arrive which confused me because I didn't see any times or hours on the door. An employee came to the door and graciously helped me w the food. I asked if i could see the doggies in the back and was referred to another employee who stated "we do not open for another 5 min". Are you serious??? Thanks for the donation but go stand outside for 5 min until we decide to open if you want to adopt a dog.. Ridiculous

I've adopted kittens twice from Champaign County Humane Society and had a great experience both times. The facility is clean, the animals well cared for, and the staff is friendly and helpful in letting you know what the adoption process will look like and what to expect. My second kitten, Neil, needed to go home with preventative meds just to be on the safe side and I was impressed with how thorough they were in explaining why he needed the meds and how to use them as well as including everything - lots of syringes, instructions, labels on the bottle , etc - I'd need to give it to him at a super low, low, low additional fee. I am very happy that they do check on your vet and landlord references since that helps ensure that animals go to homes willing to properly take care for them and keep them, hopefully, for the rest of their lives. I couldn't be happier with my two boys, Basil (black & formerly "Randy") and Neil (brown tabby and formerly "Tofu"), from CCHS.

My cat had developed allergies my family couldn't afford to treat, so I decided to surrender her, (her name is Cliver by the way, she is currently up for adoption as far as I know). And my experience was pretty sad. But the shelter staff was kind and patient. And no more than about a month and a half later, I discovered a recent picture of Clover up on their website with all of the other animals that are available for adoption, she looked perfectly well and happy, it brought me to tears. I'm so so so grateful that they were able to heal my sweet girl, even if I can never be her owner again. I'm glad they could giver another chance at a comfortable life. Please feel free to go adopt her, I want her to go to a kind loving home as soon as possible.

I recently adopted a cat from CCHS. I had 2 cats in mind when I went for my appointment. One cat was already reserved and the other cat just didn't feel like a good match. The staff members encouraged me to consider other cats and I met my future fur baby. He made a good impression and having been home with him for over 2 weeks now, I am positive he is perfect for me. I was given all the information that I feel I needed to be a good cat owner (I had always had dogs in the past). The facility was very clean, the staff was very helpful, knowledgeable and patient. I feel fortunate to have CCHS in our area. This adoption has been an extremely good experience. Thanks for all you do for the animals and the community. My adorable guy is named Remy (formerly Hawker).

I came to the Humane Society and looked at two senior cats that were up for adoption. The young lady that brought the cats for me to meet was very nice and answered all my questions! I met the cat that I initially came to see and he was a nice cat but I fell in love with the other one and decided to adopt him. They were very helpful with filling out the application! We had a bit of a problem getting ahold of my landlord but the people there were very helpful and once we got that taken care of they called and told me I could come pick Paco up! The day I picked him up the girl that helped me explained everything and was very kind! I brought Paco home that day and we bonded immediately and fell in love with each other! He sits with me during the day and sometimes in the evening and he sleeps with me at night! He is a senior and so am I and I think we are very good for each other and I’m so happy I got to adopt him!

Didn't like that they said we could visit with the animals and then gave them to another family i just believe it should go a different way like if another family is already in the works of trying to get the animal wait and see if they are approved before letting anyone else see the animal it was just a disappointment knowing we were trying to get the animal for a veteran.....

Great experience! The staff at Champaign County Humane Society were very helpful and friendly throughout the entire adoption process, even with the COVID safety restrictions they had in place. They were very helpful over the phone, letting me know everything I needed to prepare ahead of time and also calling me when two cats I was interested in were adopted so I could look into other options. In-person, staff were very friendly and flexible, letting me meet with multiple cats for as long as I wanted, and letting me put in the adoption request for two different cats while I came to a decision. In the end I was extremely happy with the cat I adopted, Jasper, and they gave me plenty of resources to start off with taking care of him.

We recently adopted a 4.5 months old puppy from CCHS. We were so impressed how friendly, knowledgeable and helpful the staff was. We were also very impressed with the cleanliness and how sanitary everything was. The playrooms and cages were spotless. Due to Covid we were asked to make an appointment to visit. Right on time every time! When we met our puppy we could tell that she was well taken care off. She was happy and healthy. Had been spayed and received all of her shots. All we had to do is visit our vet for a wellness check within a week which checked out perfect! We are so happy and would highly recommend you visit the Champaign County Humane Society. Great staff and healthy happy pets to adopt!

Adopting Opal (an American rabbit) from the Champaign County Humane society was such a smooth & successful experience. The staff are great & answered all of our questions. It was easy to see Opal was well cared for while @ CCHS. She has been an excellent addition to our family & we love her so much already. Thanks again!

I almost hate to go there, because I want to bring every furry friend home with me - but I’m one cat short of crazy anyway. Over the years, we have adopted almost all of our cats from the Humane Society. The staff is always friendly and willing to “go the extra mile” in order to help you find your new furry family member. They are also very helpful when you have been adopted by a stray who needs to be “fixed” or needs their shots. Don’t purchase your newest furry friends - go to the Humane Society and adopt there!
