Saw Dr. Jason Clark after being referred by Dr. Stephanie Kennedy. Dr. Clark appeared very pleasant, knowledgeable and personable. Liked the clinic and friendly staff.

We called to schedule a visit for an ultrasound to check for metastatic cancer. We were told they could absolutely do an ultrasound and give us guidance. We waited over a month, kept our baby NPO after midnight and drove 74 miles from home to the appointment. When we arrived, we were seen by Dr Daley. There was no mention of an ultrasound. She did a useless exam (which our veterinarian already completed) and recommended chemotherapy (which our veterinarian had already presented as an option). She stated we could have an ultrasound but it would not change the treatment recommendation. We told her we would pursue treatment that our veterinarian had recommended. We proceeded to the checkout and were charged $104 for absolutely nothing. This visit was pointless and this place is nothing short of a ripoff. We visited here 3 years ago for an "emergent visit" and had the same outcome. That visit cost us over $500. We recommend going ANYWHERE other than Metropolitan.

Today was one of the hardest days of mine and my fiance's lives. We had to say goodbye to one of our fur babies. All of the employees we came into contact with at Metropolitan Veterinary were so caring and compassionate to us and, though nothing could have made today easier, they definitely softened the blow. The girl who performed the deed, especially, was so kind and caring and loving to our sweet baby. Our regular vet was closed and if that ever happens again we will gladly return here for our pets needs. Thank you guys ????

Worst animal hospital/vet clinic I have EVER experienced in my life. They only cared about MONEY and NOT about my pet. No compassion shown ever. All they care about how much money they can get from me. This is not about not being able to afford services as I have always paid….If you have a choice, I highly recommend you DO NOT bring your animal here. Staff will flat out argue with a grieving pet owner. From scheduling an appointment to checking out, the whole place was toxic. It’s really disgusting that they are even in the field to begin with.

We could not be more grateful for the caring, kind staff and surgical team and the top-notch surgeons! Our chocolate lab was hit by a car at the end of November. She was seen the next day by Dr. Applewhite for a very extensive surgery. He kept in touch each day with updates. I even had to call over the holidays and within minutes had a return call from the surgeon on call. Dr. Applewhite has called to check on Miley and made her follow-ups a very easy process for us. Each time we take her we know she is in great hands. The care is very expensive, but so worth it.

Too busy to properly care for customers or pets. Facility is obviously all about dogs.

Dr. Applewhite and the other doctors / staff saved our dog. Dr. Owens and Dr. Smith were highly communicative through the ordeal. Kelly, a tech, babied our baby. I can't thank them enough.

Expensive, but worth it. What else would expect with emergency veterinary care though? Dr. Royal and Dr. Restle both performed complicated, risky surgeries on my chihuahua and he pulled through both times. I’m so grateful for this pet hospital. I wouldn’t have my boy if it weren’t for them!!

The staff is kind and cares about your pet. Sometimes there’s a long wait, but I understand that critical pets come first and that a lot of places are short staffed. Thankful for the help they’ve provided my cat

I gave this a five star the people employees are excellent all nice spoke with a couple doctors also very professional. My only problem was with the cost of the professionals it was way out of my league but I managed to scrape up enough money to get Mylo. And so far all is well had to chase him around with a mop for the first 4 days but now he seems to be able to hold himself and make it to the litter box thank the Lord.

Thank you so much for taking care of my cat Kings at your facility. My cat has an adrenal tumor which is rarely found in cats and was adequately diagnosed and treated here. Everyone worked to make sure they stabilized his low potassium and never gave up on him! I am so grateful my cat was discharged home to me as his old self with a top notch treatment regimen. They even are following up with me to make sure he gets the best care possible. Thank you all for giving Kings the care that he deserves and for treating him as your family!

They are so kind. They care about the family pet dynamics and even though our pets were there because of a fire when we asked to see them they let all of us in to see Darby and Jayne

Trying to be honest here so here it goes *** as far as cost, they are high. Our furbaby was sent here after paying little over $500 at Jefferson Animal hospital because they could not determine if she had a spinal injury or something else. Then at Metropolitan after talking with us about what happened to our furbaby, they wouldn't even call the surgeon unless with paid half of total amount they estimated the bill to be, which was $8000 so we had to pay $4000 up front. That was on Saturday and they kept her till Tuesday. The surgeon came in Sunday morning, looked over x-rays from Jefferson and did a CT scan and let us know our furbaby had a spinal stroke. They gave her fluids, antibiotic for a infection and worked with her on moving. When we picked her up on Tuesday afternoon the final amount of the bill past the $4000 was about $420, so total was $4420.00. Now that being all said, we felt like they did the very best for our furbaby, gave her the care she needed, told us what happened to her, was kind and gave us along with our furbaby respect and love. We did get a break down of the bill and feeling that our furbaby is our family and heart we felt that it is no different then paying a medical bill to save our life. Our furbaby needs therapy to walk again and we are having already having that done at a place that is helping her tremendously. Would we go back to Metropolitan, YES we would, they gave her the care, found the problem and did what was needed to care and help our furbaby. I am not saying they may not be some place else cheaper but considering the timing and need, we were happy and dealt with it. We love our furbaby as our child.❤????

After my girl took a bite to the ear, this was the only vet that could get her in on Thanksgiving day. Everyone I talked to was very professional and the doctors were very clear with their explanation of the process they would have to take, as well as how to care for her when we got home. They even notified my local vet of the incident before I could find the time to call them. Thank you to the entire staff for your help!

Doctor seemed to be very compassionate and was thorough in explaining options, very very knowledgeable. Three out of four front desk staff either are over worked or could improve their less than friendly demeanor.

My goodness. Where do I start…my cat was sick and I didn’t have very many options to get him seen on Thanksgiving. Drove there and was told it’d be an hour. Ok fine. I explain to them what’s going on. Cats meow sounds horse like he has a sore throat, less appetite, lethargic. They come out 2 hours later (still fine) and give me a quote of 500-700 and tell me what they “might need to do”. I was shocked and said he clearly just needs a steroid (I’ve had many animals) and ask they exam him first and then discuss further treatment. I get a call from the vet some time later and tells me the exam showed nothing and they need to move forward with original 5-700 plan. I again said he just needs a steroid shot. Doc said it wasn’t justified. I approve the rest because I just want my baby better. Some hours later vet calls again and says all the testing showed nothing and they need to sedate and examine throat. I again say what his symptoms were and that he needs steroid shot. Vet again says no. I approve the sedation and exam. Get a call some hours later and am told exam of throat found that it was inflamed and he was going to prescribe oral steroid. ( he would not listen to my pleas for the shot because I’ve never had success with oral meds with a cat) Oh, ya don’t say??? I knew what was wrong with my sweet kitty from the beginning but they, before ever actually seeing him, decided they wanted to milk me. If this is your only option then be prepared to pay around a grand for the the very basic things. Also expect to sit in the parking lot for 7 hours. Cross your finger that their conclusion ultimately gets your baby what you knew he needed all along

I can’t say enough good things about this vet office. I had to bring my Great Dane in with bloat/GDV last week, and they were just amazing. We made the decision to put him to sleep, and they were absolutely wonderful. It was the middle of the night, and it was me with my 4 kids, since my husband was away for military training. They were absolutely amazing with my kids, and treated them all with care. I couldn’t have asked for more caring people to help my big, sweet baby pass comfortably and feeling loved. Thank you all so much. ????

We took our black lab Colston there the night of 12.10.21. We knew it might be the end of the road for him but they did their best to find another option. When no such option could be found, they did their best to show grace and compassion. I have seen many reviews on here concerning payment disputes. I can’t imagine how those would arise, they were completely transparent about the payment situation (eg range of anticipated costs based on Colston’s condition and medical needs) up front. I know that, in the end, Colston appreciated their kindness and for making an impossible situation more tolerable. RIP my sweet boy and thank you Metropolitan for all that you did that night.

Please, don't take your dog here. Go someplace else. I don't care if you have to go to another state. DON'T GO HERE.

This is the best place I could have found during an emergency with my furbaby girl, Penny. They were professional and kind. And sensitive, taking care of me while I tried to navigate everything I needed to do to get my baby the help she needed. There can be no harder, sadder place to be than an emergency vet hospital in the middle of the night. And yet they all managed to exude support positivity, empathy and optimism. Take your pets here. You will not be sorry. And please pray for my baby. She is staying overnight and is not out of the woods yet. Thank you Metro. You rock.

Very kind, caring, supportive during the devastating news of your Fur baby not going to make it. The doctor took her time to sit with us and pray over our loss and love of our baby.

It kind of sucks when you have to decide between caring for your pet that’s a part of the family or sending your kids to college!!! They give you a wide range estimate that will take your breath knowing you have no choice, then call you before the surgery and inform you it should be on the low-middle end of the estimate range only to show up and pick up your pet to find out it EXCEEDED even the highest range!!! Then want to insult your intelligence and tell you just because of sales tax!!! Next time I’ll travel south to Knoxville!!!

I have a strong appreciation for what they do, especially as one of the few emergency vets open 24 hours. But, the quality is just not there. I took a dog in a for an eye trauma, he had gotten something stuck in his eye while hunting, and gave a clear description of what happened at least three separate times. Then, after waiting a couple of hours (understandable) they take him back, call me an hour later and diagnose him with......glaucoma. Absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. I then gave ANOTHER description of what happened, they re-examine him (and retest him for glaucoma for some reason) before telling me that yes, I was right, he does not have glaucoma but thankfully did not do any permanent damage to his eye. the vet clearly did not even read the notes or really look at the dog that closely before testing and diagnosing a degenerative disease INSTEAD of the obvious trauma that he was brought in for. That's like going into the ER for a broken foot, and being diagnosed with nerve damage due to diabetes. Yeah that might be true, but that is CLEARLY not why you're there. I will say everyone was nice, but nice is not a particular quality that I care that much about in an emergency vet.
