The Downtown Veterinarian Indianapolis, Indiana

I am just so grateful for this amazing team at Downtown Vet. Ever since my pups and I switched to this practice, the staff has been incredibly responsive, helpful, and great at communicating &finding solutions. Am I just naïve to think that my vet should charge a reasonable price for things? DV charged me 66% more than typical online seller price for joint supplements. 66% seems like gouge pricing, to me. And a while back the vet said that she would "mix it up and I could pick it up that afternoon." Turned out that there was no "mixing it up" at all, because the probiotic is a Purina ProPlan product that comes prepackaged and can be bought at any pet retailer. Here, again, I paid more than I would have paid at a non-vet retailer, which I know now that I have done some comparison pricing. Caveat emptor, I guess. I just assumed their prices would be at least competitive if a little bit higher. I was wrong. And they put labels on what they sell as if the product is a Rx and I need to get it from them (probiotics and joint supplements). Why does an over-the-counter product need their sticker on it? Now, they never actually said they were Rx items, but the labels look like Rx labels. It just feels like they intentionally mislead me to facilitate the exorbitantly high prices. And they are high pressure sellers of their Puppy Package. But when I needed another fecal (which was included in the PP) the lady said that she did not want to waste my money on another fecal test. I had already paid for a second fecal in my PP! And when I asked about the price of spaying my dog they gave the price and added that the cost was what it was because of the procedure that they use which is less invasive and causes less bleeding. Again, their price must be higher than the typical spaying. Result: I just don't trust them. That said, I had no issue with the care they provided to my dog, and they were always friendly and helpful.

They are the best. Such a nice group of people and take great care of the animals. I would highly recommend them to anyone in the area.

We've tried a few different vets around downtown Indy and this one is the best. The staff is so helpful and caring; It feels like family. I always feel confident bringing our dog Bailey here because I know she will receive the best treatment! I've never seen my dog excited to go the vet, but she LOVES coming here. Her tail wags, she gives out an excited woof, and rushes in the door as fast as she can!

Absolutely amazing experience. I felt that every single staff member was an animal lover and treated our puppy as their own. Our puppy had (what we thought) was an emergency so we decided on Downtown Veterinarian as they were the closest facility; I also felt comfortable with the overall 5 star reviews. Dr. Buchanan was very genuine and was incredibly thorough. In fact our usual vet responded to our phone call later that day and said "let's just give her antibiotics" - not even close to what Dr. Buchanan suggested to help treat our puppy. Needless to say we are definitely switching to Downtown Veterinarian for all of our pets' health needs. He also gave overall puppy care information (not our first dog, but she is our first puppy) and took time out of his day to help and answer our generic questions. I have nothing but positive things to say about Dr Buchanan and this establishment, and I would be comfortable with anyone there treating our dogs.

My cats have been seen by three out of the four veterinarians at this office, and each one has provided them with excellent care.

For nearly 20 years, we have entrusted our pets' care to Dr. Buchanan & the wonderful staff at the Downtown Vet. Through ups & down, they have laughed & cried with us - care & shown great compassion. Dr. Buchanan & the hard working staff (I would name each one of you, but afraid I would leave someone out) go out of their way to make certain we (the two of us & currently out two dogs) are well cared for & have lead us through some difficult decision. I cannot imagine having anyone else be a part of dogs' lives & health. We sincerely appreciate you all! THANK YOU!!!

Dr Wiggers is the best

I could not say enough about this clinic! I just got my first puppy and from 8 weeks old, we've been seeing Dr. Buchanan at The Downtown Vet. He is extremely professional, kind, and he takes his time not only with your animal but with explaining everything to you as well! I feel extremely comfortable and confident leaving my puppy in his hands while we're there. As for the clinic staff - EVERYONE has been nothing short of amazing. Every time my puppy needs to be seen, they get her in as quickly as possible, they remember my puppy each time we come and are happy to see her, and they treat us with such kindness. I'm very confident in this veterinarian office and I'm so happy we found The Downtown Veterinarian.

Dr. Buchanan is amazing. He treats my little guy, Henry, with the utmost care and has taken care of him for nearly 5 years from middle age to now his senior years. I strongly recommend downtown veterinarian clinic.

I know it’s pretty standard to say a veterinarian’s office cares about your animals but the Downtown Vet has great service as well. They have convenient hours, caring and friendly staff, and are really prompt and efficient! I have seen Dr. Wiggers, Buchanan, and Cline and I feel there is still a great continuation of care and they were all thorough with routine and unexpected exams. They have a standard payment plan and are cognizant of you as the owner as well. Even though I moved to the Keystone area I’m hesitant to ever change my vet!

The Downtown vet is amazing, I cannot say enough positive things about them! I have seen every veterinarian there between my two sick fur children, and they are all great! Dr. Buchanan is so smart, caring and thorough. He will go above and beyond to make sure your pet is given the absolute best care and to make sure you understand everything going on! The Downtown Vet has come to my fur babies’ rescue many times, and I cannot thank them enough.

When I adopted my cat on Sunday and they started hacking and wheezing on Monday, they were quick to set me up with an appointment the next day and have me send in footage of my cat to make sure it wasn't an emergency. Once I got in on Tuesday, the vet was super helpful and was able to answer all of my questions. Also, all of the people at the front desk were so sweet to me and my new kitten. Really an overall amazing experience. I cannot recommend them enough.

They treat every pet as if it is their own and each owner as if they are family. Wouldn't consider ever taking any of my FurBabies anywhere else.

Great clinic... compassionate care and friendly staff! Was there with Lap of love veterinary hospice and everyone was very nice!

Awesome experience today. Very understanding and professional. My first impression is that they care about my animal, love what they do, and offer advice or suggestions. Spent several minutes learning about my dog. Asked lots of questions and took their time building trust with him. Dr Cline and the Vet Tech Sam are excellent. I would highly recommend them to anyone, especially friends and family. Great job!

Had a kitten that ended up getting sick and passing away. I had an AMAZING experience before and after with the Downtown Vet, and I’ll be honest, I cried when I opened a sympathy card from them that was signed by each person in the office. 10/10 would recommend to anybody and when I get another pet I will for sure be coming back.

I had a wonderful experience here. Dr. Cline was incredibly patient with my aggressive dog. When he bit someone and we had to put him down they were so gentle and understanding. I would recommend them highly to anyone.

We found a stray dog and took it to them and they love the dog, fed and watered it, and through the chip in the dogs back found the owner. All for free and with great spirits. Not my current vet office but when I need a new one I will go there on basis of their attitude alone. Good show.

I have never been there but I love the work you are doing with Turbo Roo! The love and devotion you have shown this sweet puppy is heartwarming.
