We have adopted two from this location 6 years ago and they are still with us and we adopted a pit mix 3 years ago from IACC and still have her. Sure they all have had their problems and we delt with them and learned just as they did with us. Loved them through every thing. Southside shelter was fantastic as well as IACC on Harding Street. We are even looking for another one to join the family

Turn left on to Edgewood, then left in to 1614 Edgewood, stop car at the office, check into office, if no one's in there, walk back to the clearly marked dog & cat kennel buildings. When they see you, they'll come out & retrieve the pet from your vehicle. I went into the cat kennel, & it was immaculate. My Bella was very at peace although she was placed in her own spot in the kennel. I chose Southside because I adopted my 1st furever adoptee in 2010, Midnite, & he came from SAS. If my health improves enough in the future, I will definitely check SAS out to adopt from! I miss her, but know she is in excellent care!❤️????

Got my little baby here and she is the light of my life. Everyone was very friendly and paperwork was quick and easy!

The people who work here were very sweet and you can tell they really care about the animals here. My sister and I got our kitten here and it was the best decision we could have made. Adopting here was made so easy and they really explained everything to us. $135 adoption for the kittens and they’re microchipped, up to date on shots, they’re fixed (and they don’t allow declawing!!!), as well as they give you a goodie bag with treats toys food and you get to pick out a collar. Overall very wonderful experience we definitely plan to come back here in the future and we recommend them to all of our friends and family.

Kinda rediculous how we get denied an adoption because they read the application wrong and won't allow us to redo it

I had applied for a cat and they had declined because I put maybe as one of the answers. Literally I have been through so much and I can’t get I cat because I can’t be little miss perfect for you.

Excellent shelter and friendly staff

We were there to drop off old blankets towels and pillows. Had a little difficulty finding someone who worked there. We came across a mixed breed dog in a cage that was sweet and friendly. It took exception to a loose cat. Hopefully it ends up in a cat free home. They have a wonderful selection of cats/kittens. Our house is maxed out on pets, but this 1 kitten REALLY wanted adopted. Hard to leave empty handed.

The automotive message stated to wear a mask when visiting the facility. It's was not enforced amongst many visitors and staff. I was told after the denial that this is a private company that reserves the right to deny your application at their own discretion...smh I knew what that was about but I was hoping what I was thinking was not the reality. In addition, to make it sting more, I was told the pet has been adopted by someone else with no explanation..smh So you take that for what it's worth. Lesson learned and disappointing. I would hope that my family was not prejudge or denied based our race but I sensed something was different when we arrived on the property and how my child was told not to touch the animal in which we came to see but other families were maskless and touching animals but we followed the rules and was reprimanded...smh I pushed through it anyways and filled out an application for the sake of my child, giving what I was observing. I informed my child once we were denied about things happen for a reason and these times we are living in...smh I never shouldn't put my family through this process. In addition, this is the most expensive rescue I have ever been too. All around unwarranted experience and bad business practice.

So me and my family went here to adopt a cat, when they declined us a sale because we didn’t know if we would declaw. Never coming back here again

Wonderful place, please adopt here!

We went to visit this shelter over the weekend and we're very pleased with the very kind, hospitable, and knowledgeable staff. The whole place was very clean and the animals seemed well taken care of. We put in an application on an animal and were told we would be contacted when the employee who took care of applications was back. On Monday I was notified by text that our application was denied. I respectfully asked why and when I was given the reason, I let the employee know that it was a miscommunication on the application and the assumption they drew was incorrect. Conviently after that, communication stopped. Overall it seems to be a great animal shelter that takes good care of and cares about the pets. Unfortunately, the poor communication afterward was very disappointing and makes me reluctant to refer anyone.

The cat lady there was very friendly, and they had cats walking around the greeting people! Only downside is we couldn't pet the dogs ;^; understandable, but still very sad :(

Good experience. People were friendly and helpful. Facility was clean, cool for the animals. I like the fact that they take references and don't just give you an animal. Very happy with my little kitty! Thank you ❤️

Found a very sweet dog that I filled out the application for adoption

Although they have great puppies they are strict about so many thing and some of the things they ask for is very obscured. They ask for vets and other things as if we were to already have it. Was so happy to think i was going to get a dog but they bought out some obscured reason on why we couldn't have it.

If you are looking to add a pet to your family and have young children whom you’d like to include in the adoption experience I’d suggest looking into another rescue facility. Apparently this organization does not allow children under the age of 12 to browse their animals even with parental supervision. I wonder how many animals have missed out on their forever homes because of this unreasonable policy.

Went to look for a cat for your older cat only had kittens but were sick or needed shots
