Save your time and find an office that actually cares about the health and lives of your pets. More than once I have had issues with the front office staff. On one occasion, I was given the wrong medication for my animals which could kill them. But then yesterday, Monday 11/30/2021 at 7:30 am, I was not only refused to be seen by the veterinarian while my cat was deteriorating in the car but also I was treated like garbage by the woman at the desk. While I was in emotional distress on the phone asking for help for my cat while in the car in the parking lot, the woman on the phone with me hung up on me and when I came in to ask for a referral she continued to be rude and rolled her eyes at me while I stood there crying. Horrible... absolutely horrible.

Great vets, techs and reception. First rate care for our dogs. Consideration for their various quirks. Willingness to work with 3rd party vendors like Chewy to help save you so.e money on prescriptions.

Incredibly friendly and knowledgeable staff made this visit. At the time of this review, my pup was 12 weeks old and from a rescue; nervous around new places. The entire staff, especially Dr. Ridge were upbeat and made the pup feel comfortable. All my questions were answered fully and professionally, even the ones which I probably should've already known. Would highly recommend

This is the only place my family has taken our dogs and cats for care. They are wonderful, understanding, reliable, and personable and know what they’re doing.

These people are so wonderful. I will never ever trust another vet or vet receptionist again. SSAH treat you like family. More importantly, they treat your fur babies like their own. I could go on for weeks on how wonderful this vet office is. But, I will say the important: They are honest, knowledgeable, loving, caring and true. My dogs have seen it all; glaucoma, heartworm, dementia, old age, teeth, stomach issues, allergies, blood, sneezing or just the most common concern. I would drive an hour to see them. Even though I only drive maybe 4 minutes. These guys are legit. Thank you, SSAH for being there for my loss of Lady and Fiona. —Kalinda Page

The layout with the single entrance and different exit is fantastic. Our vet was friendly and knowledgeable. Absolutely will be our new home for the pups.

I took my ozzie there two times because he was throwing up and shivering they said they found nothing, it happened again but this time he died .They didn't even take x-rays to see if he'd ate anything or something was stuck in his belly I don't recommend them. I trusted Dr Ridge and she failed us both!

This is an awesome place. I've been bring my little fur babies here about 10 years. The doctors and staff are wonderful.

When our cat Cookie became severely ill, they made time to see her on an emergent basis and got us right in! The whole staff was very gentle with us when giving us the sad news that she was suffering from Intestinal Lukemia and would not get better, and helped us to make a very difficult decision in relieving her suffering. They made it easier for us to make this decision in the humane way they cared for her, and the very sweet way they communicated and comforted us in this whole process! They even provided us with a footprint keepsake that we will cherish forever! They are true angels that work here and I am just so greatful for them. I reccomend this group of truly caring professionals to anyone and everyone! I will never take my other pet anywhere else! Thank you to all who work at the South Side Animal Hospital! I've been taking my dogs to Southside Animal Hospital for over nearly 30 years. All docs and staff are top notch!

Always so nice and trustworthy. You can telll they really care about your pet.

I used to take my dog to Rockville Animal Clinic but we move to Beech Grove so I took him Shelbyville Animal Hospital located at Shelbyville Road and Emerson. Rockville Animal Clinic would have come and had me approve the things they were going to do prior to getting to me getting to the counter and finding out I owed $640. The dog was taken in for constipation so I feel like I was ripped off. Then they tried calling the next day and said the radiologist they sent it out to for a second opinion (that I already paid for that part) but they wanted me to come in and take more X-rays, oh that didn't happen. I've looked over the bill and I shouldn't have not paid more than half of that if they wouldn't have thrown in geriatric blood test, second opinions etc. The medicine they prescribed had nothing to do anything to do with the blood test or the X-ray it was just normal medicine to try to get his stomach to correct the problem, that's what they should have did first at half the cost. I would have never approved all that and then if that didn't correct the problem after a few days then I would have brought him back in for more tests. Warning have them tell you what things cost before you let them take your dog or cat out of the room. My dog seems fine now.
