The place was clean and friendly. The application to adopt a pet was long. I responded to fewer questions the last time I bought a car.

Brand new building, very clean and spacious. Visiting rooms for families to meet their pets. Staff was nice and helpful. We were allowed to come in just to visit and pet the animals. If you want to adopt, you should fill out an application because it stays good for 6 months and then it won't take extra time to process once you find the pet you want!

I can't say enough good things about the HSHC. To name a few: they are a no kill shelter, their facility is gorgeous, you can tell the people there care about the animals, they provide you with as much information as possible about the animals so you can make an informed decision, and dogs are put through a behavior assessment so you know if there will be issues with things like resource guarding. If you're looking to adopt a pet (adopt don't shop), give HSHC a look.

All i wanted was to surrender my animal to a "highly recommended" "NO KILL" shelter, their website lies and states a fee for out of county. over the phone rude lady tells me no sorry take them somewhere else best of luck! So much for looking out for the animals best interest and welfare. Couldnt have cared less why i needed their help. Reviewers find somewhere else that actually cares about helping people and animals in need!

This is an awesome facility, lots of volunteers to take care of the furbabies. I observed the staff walking the dogs around the property. They have cute rooms for the kitties to hang out and socialize and get some sun. When you pick a pet you are interested in one of the staff sits with you and gives you their history so you can make an informed decision. I wanted to take them all home but I happy to know this is a "no kill shelter" so the furbabies will be until they are adopted however long it takes. Thank You for taking care of all of them. ???? A couple of pics of the furbaby I adopted, she has sleeping a lot and getting used to her new home. She is a sweetheart and I have named her Kupcake! ????????????

After reading over 100 reviews of this place I can see I'm not the only one who got scammed by this place. I visited with the dogs and cats for a couple hours and found a small dog I fell in love with. I spent an hour filling out a ridiculous adoption application form and was told after meeting with the little boy I fell in love with that I would have to come back and bring my two dogs to meet with the little guy. I thought it was unnecessary but agreed. When I came back the next day with my boys they told me my 46 year old son who lives with me has to come in for a meet and greet. I explained he worked 7 am to 10 pm with only Sundays off and I was sure I could handle the introduction to my son on my own. They said no. I asked to speak with someone in charge to see if this rule could be bent so I could adopt the dog I wanted. The gal said no and I couldn't have my deposit back. If someone with authority wants to do the right thing and get that little boy a wonderful forever home, then they should contact me and make this right

No kill animal shelter, new building, clean and pleasant. We will definitely adopt a cat from them. They make every effort to optimally match people and pets.

I called to donate several bags of cat food that I had opened and my babies did not like. I got a message telling me they didn't want it. I will remember that when they need food. These were top quality foods and I have no idea what to do with them. Fishers Humane Society no longer on my Christmas list.

Stopped in one day to see a specific dog. The dog was being stayed, so we had to come back the next day. I called to make sure we could see the dog today...they said yes. We get there today, and someone was before us...they decided to put a hold on the dog. We felt like we were treated unfairly. We had been trying to see the dog for two days, and we were pushed a side. Unfair.

As the one of the few open admission and truly no kills shelters this place is truly doing amazing work in the world

My boyfriend and I went to the Hamilton Humane Society today and I cannot explain how amazing they all are there. We adopted our baby kitten (Tober) and get to bring him home next week after he gets neutered! All of the workers there are truly such amazing and caring individuals. Adding to that how CLEAN it is in there! We will definitely be back for future fur babies ???? can’t wait to bring our little orange kitten home thanks to the wonderful staff that made this process so easy!

I have experienced issues since coming in to adopt. The building is very understaffed. This is not the employees fault but the owners. If you are going to run a shelter this size you need to have more staff. With literally one person ahead of me it took nearly two hours to speak to an adoption counselor on the day I adopted my pet. In general just very large wait times. This is something that can only be fixed with more paid staff. Now for the health of my dog. This dog was healthy and did not present any of these problems on both occasions where I met him. He is now sneezing repeatedly, to the point it seems he’s unable to breathe, and he was unable to settle and paced/whined all night the first night I had him. I’m experienced with dogs and knew even with anxiety this was abnormal. I took him to a vet and they said he had a very inflamed neuter. He was not extremely active and had no irritation to the area. It looked gnarly when I got him but i figured it might just be the dog had sensitive skin. I was given no medication to take home. They said they used a 4 day shot. However the vet I spoke to said they’ve only ever heard of that for cats and he should have been given an anti inflammatory. I got those as well as some trazadone to help him with stress for an additional 71 dollars. Finally, they did not give him a rabies vaccine before giving him to me even though his expired in august. I have literally never heard of a shelter allowing a dog to leave without it. This is just... a lot, and I’m wondering if they even had an in-house vet look at him. I adopted my last dog through ARF in Muncie and I highly recommend them. They continue giving the dogs medical treatment from in home gets for their spay/neuter if any issues arise due to them (which is normal and wonderful). HHS basically said “anything you need goes to an outside vet now.” This is a very fancy place, and I understand it’s somewhat new, but things really need to improve. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable but I have no idea what’s going on.

AMAZING! I have a Siberian Husky… he’s an escape artist! Twice some nice person brought him and because of his chip they called so fast! I wasn’t treated in a snobby way … this was his 2nd escape and THINK GOD charge only $45 It’s beautiful. It has amazing dog and cat supplies. To be honest I wouldn’t get my dog anywhere but here.

This facility was the largest and most well kept I have ever visited. Staff was very nice and helpful. The only thing I was quite upset about was that the cat I fell in love with had felv and that information was never stated on their website.
