Don’t become a vet if you lack empathy. I understand explaining realities when it comes to pet conditions but some of these workers are downright cruel. Do better.

DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR PET TO SUFFER! My 8 month old kitten had pale/white gums, nose & even around her eyes, labored breathing, weak, barely walking, not eating & tried to meow but couldn't. She was practically lifeless. They checked her out as soon as we walked in which was only a few minutes than told me she was emergent & to wait in the waiting room which could be anywhere from 3 to 4 hours depending on if realy emergent cases came in within that time frame. After a fee hours & her breathing got worse they finally took her back for yet another few minutes than put me in a room saying her lungs were filled with liquid which is a sign she has FIP so if I had waited any longer she would have suffered & died yet wasn't emergent when we walked in. My only option was to euthanize so they brought her back, gave her a sedative to ease her breathing & make her comfortable & told me to take as much time as needed than ring the bell when done for them to come back & do the deed. She passed away from the sedative because she was that bad. Not even 10 minutes & some guy walks in eager to get us out asking how she was when she was already dead & he checks her saying she was heavily sedated & to take our time once again. Finally I was ready & the doctor came in to tell me she was already gone. When I went to pay it was way more than expected because they decided to charge me for the Euthanasia that was never preformed & the euthanasia solution that was never used which was beyond ridiculous than proceeded to charge me $30 for a paw print they weren't even doing. The most I have been charged anywhere was $5 & they did it there because the crematory place does a halfass job but that's apparently what I'm getting. I am not at all happy with the service or how my pet & I were treated. This place will find anyway to charge you for things they never even did. Needless to say I WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE AGAIN!!! My poor baby girl suffered & there wasn't anything I could do. It broke me completely.

Expensive, but I've only had positive experiences here. I understand the things that folks might be going through result in rough ratings for emergency services like an ER, and the same seems to be reflected in the reviews for Blue Pearl. Have brought dogs and a conure here at different times and have always had positive experiences.

These people don’t know what their doing!!!! They killed my pet and tried selling me 800$ worth of some medication that my pet didn’t even need, fake diagnosing pets to make money!!! Do not trust them!!!!

My dog wasn’t feeling well or eating for a few days, I took him to this hospital, and sadly I couldn’t go inside due to Covid, the vets information on what the cause is and what steps to take was awesome, it was really easy understanding what I needed to do. Also It’s a little pricey, but I would do anything for my baby to feel better.

We called late Saturday night when most animal hospitals had reach capacity. The front desk staff was incredibly warm, accommodating, and remembered us when we showed up. The check-in process is smooth and you can tell the emergency overnight staff really does try to get you in and out as quickly as they can. Samantha was warm and took the time to listen to our concerns as well as get familiar with our cat. By the time Dr. Greeson saw us it was in the early morning, yet she met us with infectious energy and charisma. You can tell she loves her job and takes the time to make informed decisions for the animals she serves. She took her time presenting us with different options in regards to care and the front desk outlined the cost of each option before allowing us to decide which made the most sense. At the end of the night, Samantha sat down with me to really go through discharge instructions and make sure we had a plan. I felt they all really cared for our pet and I was very happy with the care our cat received.

I normally have really good experiences with the Skokie blue pearl but when I went in today I had an unhappy experience with Dr. Wilson. I was having trouble understanding the x-rays my cat received and when I asked for further clarification, Dr. Wilson clearly started to become inpatient with me. She made me so uncomfortable that I was actually too scared to ask further questions that I had. When the vet tech came out (I think his name was Matthew) he was a lot more compassionate and I felt a little more comfortable asking him questions. I would never tell anyone to not come here, because accidents happen and some health problems need to be addressed immediately, but I felt better just putting this out there. I understand it was early in the morning, but I was the only patient there. And aren’t they open for 24 hours for these kind of reasons? I really need to mention here as well that the whole reason I came in was because I was scared my cat ingested a bandage. Dr Wilson offered to do an X-ray. It was going to be $530. While we were looking at the X-rays, nothing came up, and then Dr Wilson said it’s because bandages don’t show up on X-rays. This is after I just cried to her about spending over a thousand dollars three days prior on getting my cats 3 teeth removed. She had no compassion. I ended up becoming more in debt after coming here because Dr Wilson didn’t disclose to me before hand that an X-ray likely would not be helpful cause what my cat possibly ingested would not even have shown up.

They’re advertised as an exotic animal emergency room which they ARE NOT don’t take your animal here. When I brought my Guinea pig here they took him in and said that his vitals were good and everything was fine he just had beginning stages of stasis. They sent me home with 4 medications for him which I administered to him that night. Not even 8 hours later he has a seizure and dies in my hands. He was my best friend and all they care about is money. They won’t diagnose anything they only want to make your pet “stable” and charge you ridiculous amounts of money for nothing. How can my 3 year old Guinea pig go from fine good vitals and nothing serious to seizing in my hands and dying 8 hours later. I doubt they even checked anything on him if they did they would’ve seen something else is wrong. I’m never going here again and you shouldn’t either it’s so sad to see how awful vets are all they want is your money they don’t care about you or your pets life.

Ok, I seriously don't know why this place have lower review than 5. I was out of town in June, they helped me and guide my sweet 14yr old beagle to cross the rainbow bridge. They helped me intake, took care of her and explain to me what may have happened. We have visited this BluePearl many times in the past 8 years and they have been very very helpful each a s single time. All the doctors, nurses and front desk staff are all wonderful people with plenty of patience. For people that made the comment especially over the covid period, please provide your comment when you are not frustrated. When I was justthere, another owner was not quite sure about the charges and additional payment was required because of the treatment. And another owner had a good amount of refund.. so the pricing they are able to quote is an estimate until the end of treatment. Please remember this is an emergency room for most .. so it is expected to be expensive.

I do not understand all the negative reviews of this place. I called them asking for advice on my poor cat Lilo she threw up five times in the span of five minutes and they said to bring her into any emergency vet because that was not normal. I got there and the lady working the front desk was so kind and patient and reassured me that they were going to do the best they can to help her they got a tech out immediately to make sure she was stable while I filled out my paperwork and then we were quickly taken back into a room where another tech came and asked some questions all being very kind and patient during the process then the doctor came in and explained what they thought was going on which happened to be an allergic reaction to her yearly vaccine which is why she she vomited so many times. Yes I was there for several hours but I understand that because other animals came in that were in far worse conditions that my cat. It did end up being a pretty penny but at least I knew Lilo was OK I will go to this animal hospital anytime there’s an emergency

Absolutely awful front desk treatment. Docs and techs are great, but you’ll be left extremely upset (on top of what your pet is going through) because receptionists are rude, impatient, and will give you attitude both over the phone and in person. I’m in disgust. I’ll also echo that this place is twice as expensive as other emergency hospitals we have visited.

Love the place. Waited 2 hours to be seem but when they took me in they helped out my cat who leukemia and let me know if the process of taking care of her and regarding next day are options. We decided to let our little kitty go to heaven that second day. It was great that they give you a little room that's private where I got to spend time with my kitty before they put her to sleep. Great experience of the place. I would definitely recommend

Excellent care! I had to bring my dog in because he got into chocolate. They were very kind, wait wasn’t bad, they called when they said they would, and they were honest with all charges. Front desk, staff, and doctors were professional and friendly. I hope not to see them again, but if need be I will be back here.

Vet was great. Morning techs were fine. Called at night for advice on whether to take him in and the night tech was awful at active listening and gave useless advice.

Paid over $400 for a urine test for my dog & didn’t get the results until 7 days later. I had to keep calling because THEY will not contact you with test results. Waited hours in the waiting room & there was no one even there. This is supposed to be an emergency consultation yet there was nothing urgent about it. Avoid this location. Trash

Really disappointed with my experience here. Instead of being honest with the chances of my guinea pig surviving they tried overselling ridiculous treatments costing over $1700. When they knew we were not going to fall for this they lowered this to something else for $430. Keep in mind they had no idea what was wrong and just wanted to us to buy a service. We were vulnerable so we agreed with the less expensive option only to have him die on the way home. I am sure he would have died soon anyway but feel the stress from the procedure killed him sooner. They never even did a follow up call.

After speaking to reception I decided to not bring my pet in. My cat needs diagnostic services. I have called around, and Bluepearl is one of the few places that offer Ultrasound services in the Chicago area. The receptionist was short with me, and rattled off the cost so quick I had to have them repeat everything at lest 5 times. The woman had no bedside manner at all, was extremely short with me, and had a nasty tone of voice. She even told me they would not do the Ultrasound unless I agreed to a consultation for an extra fee even though I already have a referral from my own vet. The price for their Ultrasound was $713, 200-300 more than other places in the Chicagoland area. I would never bring my pet here. Bring yours in at your own risk.

Terrible place, my daughter's hamster was dripping blood out of it rectum called and was aware that it was 45 minutes from home drove there anyway waited for an hour an was told that what was going on with the hamster wasn't considered an emergency even though she was breathing rapidly and dripping blood! All in all our pet wasn't important to them and she died while we were sitting there waiting. Instead of causing a scene we just walked out. My daughter has never been so heartbroken. Shame on them.

I called first and took my dog in the middle of the night who was suffering severe gastrointestinal issues to the Skokie location and they were upfront about the costs and very helpful and efficient. When I checked out the total was less than $500 including meds and my dog is already doing better and eating again. This is the kind of place that will treat just the symptoms - if you want to identify underlying health issues you should see your regular vet.

I want to thank Nyssa I believe her name was for not only being so kind to us, but so caring for our bunny Daisy. Thank you for all you did. Today she ate hay and that’s a step in the right direction! ????

I am not happy that I had a pet emergency that required me to go to BluePearl, but I am happy with my experience. Every associate was professional and empathetic. Yes, it was expensive, but this is a 24 hour emergency room so I expect it requires more to run the place. I gladly paid the steeper price to have my cat seen immediately rather than wait 2 weeks for a regular vet appointment. The doctor was fantastic and kept me informed on every detail throughout my visit. She let us ask as many questions as we wanted and really went out of her way to put us at ease. I definitely felt that she cared about helping us, which in the end is the most important thing I look for in a vet. Thank you to everyone at the Skokie location for everything that you do!

Terrible experience! I would give negative stars if I could! The receptionist Jamie was the worst and made a lasting impression! She had a horrible attitude and within the first few minutes of being there while I was checking in, she told me 5 times that the price was $155 not including any diagnostics or medications. She was not friendly or able to show any empathy and she has no business in an emergency room setting! At least the tech and doctor were somewhat friendly. However I will never return nor would I recommend this place to anyone! It was a huge waste of time and money and the receptionist treats you like you have to pay before you get to see your pet again!

Absolutely horrible place, I saw another comment say that this place should be closed... and I can honestly agree. The only word I can use to describe this place is: scummy. I didn't have any other choice but to try to bring my puppy here after he was diagnosed with parvo at a different emergency hospital that had no rooms left. It was caught very early on, he was still alert, no vomiting, slight diarrhea, still ok energy, and still drinking water. He's tiny as well... less than 5 pounds. When I got to this place, it was estimated to be between 5K to 10K for 48 hours! Only 2 days, this virus' recovery time is between 3-5 days! I am very aware that pet emergencies can get pricey, I was prepared for that, but their price, I later found out, was a huge scam! I ended up taking my dog to Wisconsin (WVRC in Waukesha- 20/10 recommend) which, yes, is a bit far, but... 1. At WVRC, they were amazingly sweet and patient with all my questions-i only got sass and emotional pressure to pay up at this bluepearl place. It's disgraceful to try to emotionally manipulate an already vulnerable and scared person who loves their pet with all their heart... to the nurse that talked to us, please don't ever do that to another pet owner (or anyone) ever again. 2. At WVRC, their prices are reasonable and in the correct range. For my dog it was $2,700 as a deposit for the first 2 days and between $800-1K for each day that goes by (the doctors really keep your budget in mind and walk you through your options) now my puppy is all better and getting discharged tomorrow. I ended up at barely $4.55- at bluepearl no explanation of the ridiculous prices we were given (I was expected to pay $900+ for just an overnight nurse SHIFT... for one-two nights) they estimated 5K to 10K for only 2 days.... would have been about 10K to 20k for 4 days, which is what my puppy took to recover! 3. At WVRC, they actually were proactive in what they did, we called ahead and my puppy was inside and already getting treatment, while giving us time to get our finances in order, after about 30 min tops-at bluepearl they kept stalling in getting us into the hospital even though they had been called 40-50 min before we arrived... and the place (including parking lot) was pretty much EMPTY, except for one person. All in all, I really hope you've read this far before taking your pet into this scummy "vet". I wouldn't have been able to pay 10K to 20K for my puppy's parvo treatment and would have had to make the horrible decision of putting him down before he began to suffer. My puppy could have been dead right now if I hadn't left and called about 15 other places (all of which gave me the same price estimate as WVRC and just didn't have room, that's how I confirmed bluepearl was trying to scam me). I wish I could put pictures of their price "estimate" but I'm probably not allowed. Please please please stay away and I can only hope they close this place down soon.
