Demanes Animal Hospital Peoria, Illinois

I brought my dog in to see if she had Cushing's disease and Demanes Hospital refused to test for it, claiming she only had 1 symptom (distended belly). When I moved to another vet, Meadowbrook vet, they immediately diagnosed her with Cushing's. I wondered how much more time I would have had with my dog if Demanes had done their job right. And, hey, I would have been paying for that testing; I'm shocked they wouldn't do it because they overcharge people off all the time. (See below.) I also had a second dog who started to have kidney problems. After receiving fluids at the vet for $40 a pop, I asked the Demanes Hospital vet to give me a prescription so I could buy fluids online and give them myself. They refused--even though it is ILLINOIS LAW that if a customer asks for a prescription, that they MUST GIVE IT. Demanes hospital said they would sell me a "kit" for $35 for each sub-q treatment. Rip off. And breaking the law. I moved to another vet (as I mentioned above, Meadowbrook), and they immediately gave me a prescription. At that time, it was something like $8 a bag for fluids that would last over a week and a few more dollars for plastic tubing and a few cents each time for a needle, so I was able to give my dog fluids and he lived for another 2 1/2 years. If I'd stayed at Demanes, they would have sucked me dry financially. It really makes me angry how greedy they were. I waited until both of my dogs passed to post this as I was afraid of what they may try to do to me. If you're using them, I strongly recommend you go to another vet. You'll be surprised at how much better they treat you, how they follow the law here in Illinois, and how they won't overcharge you for every little thing like Demanes does. In my case, I could have extended the life of my dog if I'd brought her to a knowledgable vet first. Shame on you, Demanes.

This was our first time visit. Everyone was super nice. Our poor girl is very scared and timid. They were amazing and she didn't have to be muzzled. They explained things well and gave us options. They even helped us save money in the long run. They are now our family vet and I trust them with our fur babies. I highly recommend them. Dr. Addy is the best!!

They actually care about your pets. They understand how much my fur babies me to us. Only the best for my Bonnie and Clyde!

We brought our snake in and the vet was so knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. I would highly recommend them for any of your reptiles needs. We'll be bringing our furry friends to them as well. GOOD JOB!

Absolutely amazing experience. My sweet little rat was in a horrible accident (of course on a Weekend). When I called and told them my situation, they immediately told me that I could bring her in. Within a couple of hours they had her surgery completed, and gave me all of the information and meds I would need to get her better. I couldn’t be more grateful! Thank you, thank you for taking wonderful care of my Plum!

I made a stop for them to check out my bella after she lost mobility in her back legs. Doctor and staff was awesome honest and did what they could but surgery was only option. She had surgery and is doing fine now.

I had an appointment, yet waited nearly for 1 hr to be seen. The staff is aloof and not very friendly. The worst part- I took my pup in bc of an ear infection and they charged me $220!!!!!!! Absolutely insane. I could not believe it. And get this: the ear infection came back like 2 wks after!! This place is a JOKE I would never go again nor would I recommend it to anyone.

The staff at Demanes are great! From the vets to the techs, they are always friendly and willing to help. We have been seeing Dr. Scott since the mid 80s, thru 3 dogs.

They have really worked with me when it came to my dog. My past pets also went there. People are very nice. They treat your baby as if it was theirs. Plus its very affordable.

They are amazing people, from the deask ladies all the way back to the veterinarians themselves and eveyone between. They treat you and your pet with respect, no matter the breed, and answer all of my questions. AMAZING!!!

Great place but they really need to keep an eye on their meds around the new receptionist. She's a known Pekin pill dealer from SC.

I plugged the ear (with antibiotic plug good for a week!) of my sister's active cat (she's 93 and can't put antibiotics in every day,) which kept the cat at home and both of them happy.

I completely trust this place with my pets. We had an emergency with our dog so had to bring him in. They were wonderful with him and with us. The only thing that bothered me was that no one wore masks inside. I know most people aren't allowed inside right now but it still threw me off.
