????Adopted a guinea pig here in 2021. HSCI runs a fantastic shelter. Super clean facility that offers opportunities for volunteering across the board. The adoption counselors are truly invested in what they do & the animal care staff keeps the dog kennels & cat rooms in tip-top shape. Not only that, but the small animals get the same treatment. It's awesome to see they truly care about ALL of the animals they're helping. I've had the pleasure of meeting the Shelter Manager Jane & a Board member named Sherill who are not only on top of everything happening there, but are great to work with on adoptions & events as well. I found out this non-profit doesn't receive any governmental funding & relies solely on community support so get in there & help out! If we don't 'give local', we won't have it. Thank you for what you do, HSCI! ✨

Great people and even greater animals!

When it was found that my lease's "no pets" clause would, in fact, be an obstacle to me adopting a cat, the HSCI took it upon themselves to call the property management company to ask that they make an exception. Some three years later, cuddling here with my favorite feline, I still get misty eyed thinking about the magnanimity of the favor they'd done for me during what had been one of the most trying chapters of my life. I pray that God blesses the good people at HSCI.

We adopted two brothers. They are so loving and never leave each other’s sides. The staff was wonderful and helpful with the adoption.

We got the sweetest dog! They said he'd be good with young children and cats. They were right! A perfect fit for our house!

Great experience. You can tell that they really care about the animals. The facilities are clean and neat despite the damage that recent flooding has caused. I would highly recommend them in selecting a rescue dog or cat.

Very accommodating. It's very apparent that they truly care about both the animals and the people who are there to expand their families. They listened and allowed the necessary time to make a confident decision. Very happy.

Gonna have to put my 18yrs old diabetic for 7 years now cat down,or hopefully a fur ever home for his last few years I'm moving to a senior home and no pets. If there's a better choice please help me out.

There's one individual that makes me not want to go there. She always seems to have an attitude and hasn't helped me yet! The first time i went there she didnt explain the process, and two weeks later i still dont know it! I lost my furbaby recently and all i want is a new one. I feel lost and more emotional about the situation then i ever have.

They were nice enough on the phone however they did not provide funding that I was requesting. However they do have a good lost and found and it's spayed and neuter program.

The staff here are wonderful. We've gotten all of our cats there and they've always been so caring and helpful with each. Daisy and mango (now magpie and pixie) say hello from their snuggle window.

Extremely rude staff!! Absolutely horrible attitudes!!

Receptionists are very rude. Hung up on me when I called. Called to adopt an animal and rather than being excited they made the process really difficult. Would rather drive to peoria or Pekin than deal with them again though i live in the community

Asher, now Raider has been so great with us and our other cat DEWEY, perfect match for the both of our young kittens????????

I have gotten all of my cats from here. Even volunteered some of my time in the past with the kids to help out. They take excellent care of the animals and the staff is extremely helpful.

Went it very excited to adopt a new dog with a group of friends. Very disappointed when we were denied to see a dog!???? Employees were extremely unfriendly as well. Would not come back.

The staff at this location were extremely rude and did not care about placing animals in well fitted homes. I made a viewing appointment and did not find one with a personality I felt fit mine and my home so I made another appointment to view different ones at a different time because with limited capacity they can only show 3 at a time. Upon returning the staff were again extremely rude and questioned if I was actually serious about adopting since I didn’t choose the first one they showed me even after I explained that I wanted to find one that I felt was a good match. As an animal lover I am very disappointed in this experience as it made me not want to return to their facility, which is a shame for all the animals there that need homes.

Extremely rude staff. Especially the large black lady working the desk. She said we couldn’t come in without a mask, so we asked if they had any to give us and they responded with no, while the whole time she was not wearing a mask, right next to another worker 1 foot from her and was spreading her germs all over the front window where people walk up to.

Very professional they care about the animals

Patricia at HSCI was wonderful! She responded to our emails and calls promptly and answered all of our questions thoroughly. While we ended up making the tough decision not to adopt the dog we met (after many hours of consideration), it was for the best. Patricia and the staff were kind, patient, understanding, and honest. They helped us make the most informed and responsible decision we could. They listened to what we were looking for and even sent a follow up email to see if we had found our furry friend. I have only positive things to say about Patricia and the rest of the staff.
