Tops In Dog Training Kennel Grayslake, Illinois

Dropped off my Labrador for a monthly grooming. Well worth it to have my dog looking and smelling good. They take really good care of him. Everyone here is so friendly and they really love him. My dog gets TOO excited with people and I am sure he is a handful but they manage well to get his coat looking great and his nails trimmed.

This place saved us! We were nearing our departure date and decided to use Tops Kennel for our little Chinese Crested to be boarded for a week. They made it easy for us to drop off and pick up our dog despite our rescheduled arrival date. We were so happy to see her. Thank you Tops Kennel!

We've used TOPS twice for boarding our dog with reactivity issues. They've been able to accommodate him away from other dogs and have been great in general dealing with him! Definitely recommend!

Tops is not close to my house, let's just start there. It's nearly an hour drive. It's also the only place I'll take my dog. It's THAT good. Had horrible experiences elsewhere.. Our pup was treated amazingly well here. The place is clean, well run. The dog handlers are top notch and actually care for your animal. Cost is reasonable. Can't recommend enough!

If you are starting in or around the Grayslake area, this is best lodging place for your canine friends.

I use Tops for my boarding needs and with 2 very anxious nervous rescue dogs Tops handlers have been excellent and take the extra time and energy needed with them and have provided us with feedback needed for future visits to help their stay go even more smoothly. We are able to call and ask how they are doing and are provided with excellent cuisine service and I feel confident my dogs are safe. If you are looking for s kennel that your dogs will have the ability to play with the other dogs outside of their runs this is not the kennel for you. Tops specializes in dogs with aggression and reactivity so they do keep dogs from different families separated at all times, but dogs from the same family are allowed to play together at play time. Our dogs have only gone for 2 short stays to acclimate them to boarding for a long stay but they already get excited when we pull up and are badly too see the trainers and h we helpers.

❗️Long Review Alert ❗️ We have a 9 month old Golden Doodle (birdie) and have been taking her to TOPS Kennel since she was a puppy. We started in the puppy class with Selina. This was a great class to socialize your pup and start learning the basics. After we completed the puppy class we decided to do the Board and Train. Once Birdie turned 5 months old we had Kasia train her for 3 weeks. Kasia is truly an amazing trainer. I was very anxious to leave my puppy there for 3 weeks but in the end it was the right choice. Kasia sent daily updates on how Birdie was doing. She sent videos and pictures on her progress over the 3 weeks. Once her board and train was over we had 3 "take home lessons" with Kasia where we had a crash course on how to use the prong collar. We would go home after each lesson and work on things with Birdie. After the board and train and 3 "take home lessons" Birdie was a totally different dog. Walking her was more enjoyable and she actually had manners and listened to us. We continued classes and Birdie graduated from "intermediate obedience" at 7 1/2 months. We are currently working with Maxwell in his intermediate2 /advanced class and we love him! We just signed up for a class with Krista and are SUPER excited about it. The whole staff at TOPS is very professional and friendly. We just had Janet groom Birdie and she did an amazing job and the price for a full groom didn't break the bank. - If you own a Golden Doodle you know how expensive it can be. If you have any doubts about this place I hope this review helped. Birdie also gives TOPS a 10/10! ????????

The trainers at TOPS are truly in it to help people and their dogs live their best life. They teach you that with patience and perseverance you can strengthen your bond with your dog. Best experience I've ever had.

13+ yr Maltese I was told by the representative at Lake Zurich Petco that's my dog was matted and the cost would start st $70. The representative at Topps said my dog was not matted. $45.00 was the total.

Started the beginner 8 week class with my 9month old reactive dog. In just one session my dog learned how to walk nicely on a leash without trying to pull me all over the neighborhood. He also learned how to sit by my side calmly without barking or lunging at people walking past us. I can't wait to see what the rest of the class hasbinstore for us! Great instructor really breaks it down so you can effectively train your dog.

Love Tops Kennel. We have had a great experience with three of our dogs. We have loved all of our instructors. Presently we have had Max for two of our dogs. He is amazing.

I would like to express the BIGGEST SHOUT OUT to PAULA and ALEX. Paula trained our 2 and 1/2 year rescue with everything she could do for him to behave! In one week of staying there he was sitting, heeling, staying and doing other commands that was asked of him. Our biggest problem was that he is a biter and unpredictable. Paula put herself in harms way to do whatever she could to eliminate this issue. When we came to see him he went after my husband and Paula brought Alex into the equation. They gave us a great deal of time to discuss where this would be headed in the future and as hard as it was to hear I’m so grateful to Paula and Alex to be so honest about the results that we as pet parents shouldn’t expect. It’s very difficult to tell your clients that this dog needs a different situation than what we can give him. It was never about the money that they wouldn’t be paid for the next two weeks. You don’t see that anywhere! Paula wouldn’t even take my money for the week she worked with him. I have never seen a training facility so clean, organized and promises from the get-go and follow through. The staff are also congenial and very welcoming. We had a fantastic experience and I’ll always appreciate the honesty and hard work Paula and her staff put into our dog. I wasn't sure I could keep my German Shepherd before a three week training with Felisha. I picked her up today and am able to take her for walks again!!! Thank You for giving me my dog back!!????????????I had to go back to get a training collar and my dog was happy to be there again. Lol Not like the vet or groomer.????

We had been to TOPS previously for weekly puppy training a little over 10 years ago with our first German Shepherd. That was a positive experience so now that we had our 2nd German Shepherd Zoey, I knew exactly where to go for training. This time I elected to leave Zoey overnight for 2 weeks for daily training with our trainer Selena. Zoey is strong willed and smart like most shepherds but needed training badly (and so did we as dog owners). I want to thank Selena and TOPS for doing such an excellent job training Zoey and making her an enjoyable part of our family again. Puppies are so much work but if you put the work in when they are young, they will be well behaved dogs for years to come. We couldn't have got to this point without you. The training was well worth the expense. She's no longer counter surfing, jumping on us, play biting or misbehaving overall. She's like a new dog. Thanks again!
