Cedar Lane Kennels Downers Grove, Illinois

This was the first time using Cedar Lane Kennels but definitely NOT the last. I was initially attracted by the expansive/wooded outdoor space and the homey setting. Jeanie, the owner, raises and has shown her own dogs -- the depth of her canine knowledge shows and is very comforting. My sweet dog is 10 years old and getting finnicky in her old age -- she apparently sulks and eats very little when we board her. Jeanie was incredibly attentive, patient and tried everything she could think of to get my dog to eat. She kept me informed by phone the entire week which I appreciated. My dog could not have been in better hands and I would recommend Cedar Lane Kennels without reservation.

Amazing facility very caring people!!

We take both of our Goldens to Cedar Lane frequently, and couldn't be happier with the professionalism and service they provide. This is the absolute best facility we have ever been associated with. My dogs are always treated like royalty and given focused attention during their stay. We even receive pictures while we are gone over the holidays so that our kids can see that their pups are having a good time! Both dogs love being at Cedar Lane, and I can finally travel without worrying about their health and safety.

First time leaving our rescue in a kennel for 12 days since we adopted her a year ago. We were very anxious, but SO HAPPY with the experience! Jeannie and her teams's care were amazing. Our dog isn't comfortable around other dogs, which is one of the reasons why we needed this type of kennel setting. Jeannie guided us through the process. You can really see how much she cares for the dog. Our pet was happy to see us, but also loved and was comfortable so quickly around Jeannie! She did go to say goodbye to Jeannie (until her next stay :)!) It's very affordable, our pet was safe, and we loved the option of playtime, so did our dog. Thank you again Jeannie for taking care so well of Pepper!

Great Place you can trust to take excellent care of your pet. I've been to numerous other kennels over the past 10 years with my chocolate lab and this place is by far the best. Clean, spacious and friendly. Fairly priced too!

Family feel for your pet

Nothing but great things to say about this place. Great place to board your animals. The staff seem to really love your pets. One of the best kennels in the western suburbs (that I’ve found at least). I would highly recommend this place for your pet if you need to go out of town.

I’ve been taking my dog here for almost 2 years and we love Cedar Lane. Everyone is friendly, our dog, Bruno, loves going and shows no hesitation when we walk in. He’s happy to be there! Bruno always comes home clean and well taken care of. Would definitely recommend to any dog owners out there looking for a great kennel to board with!

We had a last minute change on where we were boarding our dog, over a holiday weekend. Cedar Lane Kennels was able to accomadate us with less than an hour's notice. We had her groomed too. When we came to pick her up, she was happy, healthy and looking amazing. We will be using them regularly for grooming and would not hesitate to board her here again!

I have been boarding here for 9 years; I wouldn't take my dogs anywhere else. The dogs LOVE hopping in the car to go; they are genuinely spoiled when they are there. I appreciate that I can add on play times to wear them out; they are exhausted when they come home. Thank you, Cedar Lane, for taking such amazing care of our dogs. We will be back. :)

We have brought all three of our dogs here for boarding and grooming for the past 25 years always to be very satisfied. Peter tells us great advice on training our dogs. Sue grooms them beautifully. Prices are fair and discounts offered for lengthy periods of time. When we make the appointment they are attentive to ensure all records are on file so there are no issues when we arrive. Our dogs are comfortable upon arrival and come home tired from playtime. Never has any of the staff been irritable or disrespectful and always caring of our dogs, even when informing me of ways I can better train or care for our dogs. They care!

Excellent facility. My Lab loves the place! Clean and comfortable! Also, the growing department did a better job than PetSmart at half the price.

This is the only place I take our dog for grooming. Owners have been doing this for 25+ years. They do a great job.

Okay shop. They did well on my dog though. I set a second appointment up with them and they called me and cancelled day of so I set up another appointment for later in the week. They then called the same day and cancelled again stating they would call back to reschedule, but I never heard from them.

We have been taking our German Shepherd here for the last 2 years and have been very pleased. She is always well taken care of and returns happy, safe and healthy. I would not leave her anywhere else. We even took a few training courses here when she was a pup, which were very helpful. Both Peter and Susan, the co-owners, are great down to earth people and they are directly involved with the daily care of your pet, which is great.

I had never boarded my pup before, and someone referred me to Cedar Lane. Blitz has now been with Peter about 5 times in the last 6 months and I couldn't be happier! He is well cared for, clean and healthy when I pick him up! I will definitely be using this kennel whenever I need to travel!

We love taking our two dogs here for overnight boarding. The prices are great and our dogs always come home tired.

I have two pit bulls that I had to kennel for a 3 day weekend -- one senior dog, and the other is 18 months old. Peter and his staff took excellent care of them!! My senior dog has been kenneled before at another place in Downers Grove, and when I picked him up, he was panting, nervous, and shaking for DAYS! It was heart breaking and I felt horrible, because I knew he had a bad experience there!! So when I was kennel shopping, I was extra careful. I stopped by to check out the Cedar Lane Kennel facility before I took my dogs there. I wanted to meet the staff/ owners and see the facility. I was happy I went, because I felt really good leaving my dogs there. And when I picked them up, they were very happy, friendly, well behaved, and overall very well balanced, especially my senior dog!! No stress on him at all!! Everything was great! The groomer at Cedar Lane Kennel also did a very nice job on my dogs. I would definitely kennel them there again.

My dogs seem to really enjoy their time at Cedar Lane. At the very least, they always come home looking good and acting happy and healthy. I love that all my dogs get to share playtime together for one price. Also, having brachycephalic dogs that are intolerant to excessive heat and cold, I love that there is an option for indoor playtime. Their boarding prices are very reasonable, and I like the security of having the owners living on the premises. We recently added bath time to the last day of their stay, and they came home smelling fabulous. So far, we have had nothing but positive experiences with Cedar Lane Kennels, and we would recommend them to anyone with dogs in their family.

BEWARE!!!! We were considering boarding our dog here, but after the absolutely terrible reception by some older woman that was working there this last Sunday.....we will NEVER bring our dog here. I stood outside for 15 minutes with my son who was in crutches mind you...and after finally getting to speak with this woman, I informed her that I was considering bringing my dog here but wanted to take a quick look at the kennel. She very rudely snaps stating that she was too busy do any tours today as they were closing in less than an hour and she was all alone with nobody else there. Mind you, there was a younger woman standing next to her and I saw a young man walking a dog outside in the back. So not sure if the old hag was just senile or was just refusing to help me. So because I had read decent review about this place I really wanted to check the place out since I was pretty much already set to bring our dog here. So I just asked, "Are you sure we could just take a quick peak. Now, what I was disgusted with was not the reason she gave for not being able to accommodate us, but with the "HOW"! I mean...you would have thought I asked her to give me one of her grandson's kidney's or something! She literally shouted out, "I ALREADY TOLD YOU, I CANNOT!!" Since my son was with me....I showed restraint to respond and just walked out. So not only did her terrible and complete lack of customer service cost them 8 days of boarding and a potential life long customer, but I will make sure to warn everyone to stay away from this place as they have a wicked old witch working there.
