We have been training with Prentice for almost 7 months now, and have absolutely loved working with him. He has always been more than helpful, in not only training our dog, but also us, the owners. We never feel rushed when he’s working with our dog Rogue, and always takes his time to make sure we are on the same page. Ever since we started training with Prentice, Rogue is a much more well mannered, and obedient dog. He really knows what he’s doing, and won’t just give you quick fixes, but rather long term obedience. I recommend him to everyone that has a dog, if your dog has any issues, big or small, he’s the guy to go to!

I can't in good conscience recommend this company. I had high hopes for an opportunity to train with an AKC winning trainer. I am disabled. At home training seemed like the ideal solution for me. Due to the pandemic he and his partner were no longer training at the facility on Tripp ave. I started training my rottie puppy with Prentice Kidd in May 2021. I paid $1500 for 2 sessions per week at my home for 6 weeks. I paid an additional $150 for the initial evaluation. I had three at home sessions in May. It is now Dec 21. I have not received the remaining 4 weeks of training. Nor have I received any of my money back. In fact, he has threatened to sue me for slander, liable, and defamation of character based on the reviews my family posted regarding his relability. Definitely not the response I expect from a "professional" who has been paid for but has not rendered the service.

Stole money from a woman who suffered a brain injury. Refuses to own up to it or make it right. Do not engage this man. He's a scam artist

We started training with prentice when my puppy was 6 months and he was very unreliable. We would schedule for a day which he confirmed and MULTIPLE times he cancel on us very last minute and he would use the excuse of his car breaking down every time. He always showed up late like about 30mis-2hours late to our classes. Many times he didn’t even let us know until we had to call him ourselves and sometimes wouldn’t even answer or text back while we were waiting for him to show up to our in home training class. The last time we saw him he said it himself that we had 3 classes left and we went out of town for a family emergency and wanted to reschedule after we came back. When he tried to schedule for the 3 classes left never responded to any of our multiple calls, texts, nothing. We had to pay him full the first day of classes and I’m very disappointed he took the money without finishing our training class. We had a horrible and frustrating experience with this company and wish we could have gotten our puppy the training he had promised.

If you are reading this please look for another trainer!! I was really excited to get my puppy training from video of their social media. But let me tell you it’s one of the worst trainer every. He was a no show multiple times and took our money and never finished the training class. My puppy was terrified during the classes and the trainer never taught us to positively train our puppy.

This review is LONG overdue! I hired prentice when I got my first puppy, Riley 4 years ago. From the beginning prentice instilled a confidence in me that I would be able to do great things with Riley. He came TO MY HOME and instilled the message that my dog and I are a TEAM and that I needed to get in my dogs head in order to set her up for success. He taught us both so much!! Within a few weeks Riley had graduated her star puppy course but we walked away with so much more then a certificate and a few commands. Riley and I had bonded over his training. Prentice taught us how to work together with respect and integrity. He was always honest with me and never sugar coated anything. He used ONLY positive reinforcement with Riley and she thrived!!!!! Fast forward a few years later I decided I wanted to to continue my training and I by mistake reached out to a different company with a similar name ... which ended up being a huge mistake and what a trauma!!! After arriving at the facility and realizing I was at the wrong place - I met with another trainer who proceeded to brag about his ability to get a dog to do anything! He asked to meet Riley and she jumped up in excitement. To my horror he SMACKED her on the muzzle and Riley came cowering to me behind my legs. I ran out of there so fast and when I got ahold of prentice and told him the story he couldn’t believe it! Prentice has been a pleasure to work with. He has been motivated to get Riley and I to our goals and stops at nothing to make it happen. I highly recommend him for ANY kind of training. He is truly a dog person and with his high standards, he will stop at nothing to get your dog as perfectly trained as mine. I can’t thank you enough for all you have done! Chicago canine company is Worth every single penny!!!!!

My 6mo old Corso/Rott and I have been eager to begin learning at a higher level. After months of searching we've found exactly what we need. Looking forward to giving updates on our progress.

I hired Prentice Kidd in December. We are 2 weeks going into April, he’s come over and trained my dog 3x’s! He’s no call no show about 7-8 times! Always making excuses. I’m disabled. I paid him upfront without the contract being sent. That was my mistake. I just want him to reimburse me my $2500. He did not do his job! Very unprofessional.

I've been training my dog through with Prentice Kidd & this company and have been learning valuable lessons on puppy/dog mentality... Although we're nowhere near done with training, the results are so profound that when I walk my dog (giving commands) people ask how my pup is so well-trained. Chicago Canine Company & Prentice do a great job!

We've been training our now 10 month old Rottweiler at Chicago Canine Company since he was 12 weeks old. We have two children so training was imperative. Not only our dog already knows a bunch of commands, he's obedient, confident and happy. This is a different level of training where the happiness of the dog is of utmost importance. Prentice knows dogs and I swear he speaks their language, our pup is always excited to see him. We will continue the training from obedience to protection as we are extremely pleased with the outcome so far.

I was very excited to get my puppy trained by Prentice when he reached out that he would do it for a lower price than he usually charges. What followed was very unprofessional. He kept calling and calling in a span of 3 days asking when we would start and I had told him numerous times that I needed to consult my family on when we would be able to start and get the money together. I missed a call of his and he proceeded to text me saying that I will never find a trainer as good as he is and good luck finding anyone who would work with me or my puppy. It was super unprofessional and very petty of him, it seemed that he just wanted the money as soon as possible. After reading his reviews and the abuse that some of his clients went through I feel like I dodged a bullet. I researched other training faciltices and found CCC is number 5, so I went to number 1 "Anything is Pawzible" training and their prices are so much more affordable. I want to work with a trainer who wants to work with my dog, not because he wants the money ASAP.

Our Henry went in for a socialization session. Prentice was very informative and reassuring. He made many suggestions for products that would be helpful but never tried to sell us anything.

I volunteer at Chicago Canine Company and with that being said I see all of the behind the scenes work being done here. Everything from training to cleaning out kennels is done with the best interest of every dog on the premises. That shows me that I’m volunteering for a great trainer who truly loves dogs. The training here is very balanced, just what every dog needs. And the dog will show you thru it’s body language and demeanor how he/she feels about training. I must say, EVERY dog that’s being trained here has a wagging tail. Prentice Kidd is an outstanding dog trainer who truly shows a personal interest in every dog/handler that walks thru those doors. And since I’ve been working here, I’ve personally seen the positive results of dogs behavior and humans understanding of dogs through the training that Prentice offers. This is also a safe and fun environment for everyone, and Prentice strives to make that happen. Folks it gets no better than this. Come check out Chicago Canine Company, you won’t be disappointed.

Prentice Kidd gave me my relationship with my dog back. It was an emotional process, but now my dog is no longer aggressive, reactive and am now as important to him as he is to me. My dog and I have formed such a powerful bond, and this would not have happened without Prentice's training.

Prentice is the best at what he does! Not only was he able to teach my puppy basic commands, he also taught me a lot of the psychology behind training. I have a way better understanding now of what I was doing wrong, and how I can move forward with the knowledge to positive reinforce my puppy. His helped has impacted my life outside of training my puppy as well. I applied the same concept he taught me, and used it on my daughter , minus the clicker lol , and wahlaaaaa, no more talking back and asking me for candy a million times! He’s been a great help , and a great instructor for me, my pup, and my daughter! So grateful!!!

Having a new puppy can get pretty expensive. The private lesson with Gordon was, hands-down, the most valuable pup-related thing we spent money on. He's amazing at his job, loves animals and makes pet parents feel totally empowered and capable. Priceless.

I brought my dog to Chicago Canine Company in Chicago on October 21 2019 When my dog met Prentice Kidd she growled, snarled, lunged, and everything that a fear aggressive dog would do. Prentice said, " I can fix her", and he was right. Prentice Kidd is poetry in motion. He is like Walter Payton was to football or Michael Jordan was to basketball. He is accommodating to my schedual. He is honest in his assessment of my animal as we progress. He is absolutely wonderful with training and breaking dogs out of severe behavior issues. Prentice Kidd is outstanding. I am excited to move forward with my dog and this trainer. Thank you for helping my dog be the best she can be and for me in being the best I can be for my dog.

Love every aspect of this company, the training, the boarding and the doggie day care....Prentice is very knowledgeable of his work as a trainer, it is about training your dog and training you to understand your dog behavior. It is a labor of love, time and commitment, on your part as a dog owner, to succeed with the training.

Prentice Kidd is a true professional who truly cares about dogs, their owners and forging a great, trustworthy relationship between the two. He understands the behaviors of dogs and teaches all owners how to understand them as well. If you are looking for a trustworthy, thorough and expert trainer for your dog, Prentice Kids is the only option.

They trained my dog to do everything I needed and expected from a trainer. Prentice Kidd takes such pride in caring for the babies as if they were his own. He actually exceeded my expectations and I highly recommend you contact them for all of your fur baby needs! If you are looking for quality care with love and affection, then you have found the right business!

Dropped off our shepherd there for a month or so...it’s been a few years but I remember them saying he was trained with the collar. I showed up and he was very obedient at the center. When I took him home and he saw our kids running around outside he too wanted to play with them but since our neighbors kids were there and our dog was very big for his age he appeared intimidating to others. The collar would not be able to keep him from wanting to run away. I called them and took him back and also brought our kids. The trainer could not control him at all!! So he said he would keep him another week and yet again at home we were never able to control him. Another thing was when we picked him up the first time he had the worst diarrhea for a couple weeks...we think they mixed up his food bag. Anyway, I will never recommend anyone to this place. It was a big waste of money almost $1800 I believe. I didn’t post anything before because I thought it was my dog the entire time...but then I realized it was and that’s why he was there in the first place!
