Dr. Keller AND Dr. Wethered are both amazing! Dr. Keller did emergency surgery on my very sick dog and did a fantastic job. Dr. Wethered who wasn't even on call over the weekend gave me his number to call or text with any questions or concerns. I called him in a panic and he calmly talked me through it. He also promptly responded to my texts when I had questions. I can't express how thankful I am to Dr. Keller for saving my sweet girl and to for Dr. Wethered for giving me comfort through the process. Hands down 2 of the best vets in this valley!

I had a pet emergency with my little dog. They were able to work us in and we had never even been there before! The Dr. did a work up and the news was not good at all. The Dr. and staff are were so compassionate and caring. Unfortunately, our little guy didn't make it. The sweetest thing ever- A sympathy card and flowers from the clinic showed up at our house. This place truly cares about their patients, the families, and the community.

I have taken my pets here for years. I followed Dr. Keller from her previous location because she is the best.

This was in October. My dog Homeboy was dealing with a ulcer on his eye. We were not able to immediately see his normal vet and this animal hospital was the only one who had an opening soon enough. We ended up having 2 separate visits here and both were sub par. The first issue we had was with the Dr. He was complacent, lacking compassion, rude and degrading to his assistant saying things like “hold his head up, because you know…gravity?” Didn’t seem at all light hearted. He also was very aggressive with handling Homeboy and had no concern for his fear. I was told not to talk/calm or look at Homeboy while he was on the table and panicking. My regular vet allows me to handle him while doing checkups and is very aware and concerned of the stress level of homeboy at all times. The second issue we had and that we will now continually deal with is that he prescribed Homeboy an eyedrop medication that in turn made his eye ulcer worse, get bigger and cause life long scarring to his left eye. Thankfully we have resolved this issue to its best ability with our normal vet in Meridian. Not to mention the second medication caused my dog to vomit and have diarrhea at the same time which anyone will tell you that an emergency concern…they tried to have me drop him off a full 24 hours later until my fiancé and I called separately to convince them to see him because of the condition he was in. They agreed to see him and we paid over $100 for 10 min and for him to basically not address the vomiting issue and only ask about his eye and then prescribe the eye drops that permanently damaged Homeboys eye. We do not recommend Northwest vet due to lack of compassion, complacency and lack of professionalism from the vet here. Take your loving pets elsewhere.

We brought Luna there for a sprained foot after he jumped off the sofa. Everyone we met was very caring and professional. Thank you for being there when we needed you.

Similar to another recent review, I visited this vet for the first time after reading good reviews and I was so so disappointed. I echo reviewers that say the Dr. lacks compassion & is very dismissive. I had a few questions that really concerned me about my pets health & he was completely dismissive and only gave short answers. My dog is also a rescue and is absolutely terrified of strangers & vets. The vet knew this but was so incredibly cold towards my dog, didn’t try to comfort him, & scolded me for comforting him. He told me my dog probably reacts that way from me coddling him (another reviewer said they were told the same thing) and told me to stop comforting him or talking to him, but he doesn’t know my dog at all. My dog is very independent, doesn’t really care for attention, but has real trauma so I was trying to comfort him. I was blamed for his nervous behavior when I KNOW it was caused by the vet who hadn’t even said hello to him yet yanking him by the leash away from me. The vet didn’t listen to my concerns, didn’t ask me anything about my dog, and didn’t help at all. I will say the veterinary assistants were so sweet & kind and tried to be extra kind when the dr. left the room. I won’t be bringing my dog back to Northwest Animal Hospital & if compassion and attentiveness is important to you, I recommend you go elsewhere.

We took in our sick cat who was coughing and sneezing horribly. The vet, Mr. Wethered (will NEVER refer to him as a dr)spent less than 5 minutes overall coming and going from the room. He told us cats don’t cough. He never addressed the sneezing or the “not” cough. He said she has asthma. She is 6-7 years old and been to the vet so many times and no one has ever said she has asthma. The tech was wonderful!!! She was very caring and loving towards our baby! The receptionists were a bit less than attentive. We walked in and stood there while someone walked in front of us to check out and the other receptionist walked away after looking at us without acknowledgement. Anyway $630 later and 3 X-rays with bloodwork done and all we got was a shot for the “asthma”. So very disappointed. DO NOT GO THERE! We will be going back to our regular vet.

Unfortunately our lovely dog got cancer at only 7 years old. It was not clear what was going on, but Dr. Keller took great care of us and our dog. She was extremely caring and communicative and the pricing was very fair. We ended up euthanizing, and Dr. Keller was very helpful and direct in helping us make that choice. She made a difficult situation much easier to deal with.

Horrible customer service. My 3.5 month old pup had a rectal prolapse and they forgot to send the records to West Vet before her emergency surgery so when West Vet checked her in they had to redo the exam, ultrasound, x-ray etc... causing me to have to pay twice for what had already been done just a few hours earlier. After Dr. Whethered did the initial exam and looked at the ultrasound diagnosed her with an emergency intussusception surgery and told me that he had a "previous arrangement" and wouldn't be able to preform the surgery so he passed me along to West Vet. Isn't that the duty of a vet, though?! To put what you have planned on hold and perform life-saving surgery when it arises?!! The only reason I went to them was because they got me in that day. When everyone else isn't taking new clients but some are, there is probably a reason for it... Hopefully you can avoid a similar situation by going to a competent practice instead. This is in response to the Doctor's comment below: Obviously you didn't understand when I said, "there is probably a reason for it..." in regards to getting me getting in the same day so I'll elaborate for you; meaning other practices near by take care of their patients so well that they are booked out for weeks, unlike your practice as you were able to get me SO quickly. Customer service is not penciling someone in because your guy's calendar is wide open. Customer service is doing the right thing which would have been to send the documents that day so I wouldn't be charged twice. No one ever told me they would bill me just to go to the more competent practice right away. You know you should have done the surgery and not send me elsewhere that's 10x more expensive but you probably get a kick back from West Vet for every one you refer. Of course I didn't want to pay as West Vet charged me for the exact same thing you did a few hours earlier but like I said above your practice isn't competent enough to send the necessary documents that help their clients. Pretty sure you wouldn't want to pay for the same thing twice?! You guys are clearly hurting for customers as you're defending your actions and can't see your errors.

It was a Sat and my dog got cheat grass in her ear. I was able to drop her off and they would be able to see her. They called me back in about an hr and got it out. They checked everywhere else on her to make sure she didn't have more. She had a few in her pads. I'm not from Boise so I got a big lesson On this. They called me the next day to see how she was doing! Great office and vet. Thank you for helping my girl!????

Worst place I have ever been! The techs were all very friendly but the Veterinarian Dr Whethered was the rudest, cold hearted, unprofessional, Veterinarian I have ever met; and taken any of my animals to!!! I paid almost $600 to not be told what was wrong with my service dog and to be told that she might have cancer you should take her somewhere else the next day. They did blood work and gave her fluids however the Veterinarian didn't tell me this a tech did. I asked to please have Dr Whethered call me before they closed which never happened and when I walked in 5 minutes to close he was sitting in a chair yawning. When they brought my dog to me she was soaked in urine, so was her blanket. Worst experience anywhere!

This place was referred to me by the humane society. We took are 3 week old baby bunny there for a check up and any advice in how to care for her. We waited almost 30 minutes to see the doctor (which would have been fine if he had any helpful information of any kind). He literally walked in with a dip of chew in his lip and proceeded to spit in the trash can during our appointment. He could hardly answer any questions that we had in regards to caring for her. I learned more about taking care of my pet on the internet than I did from someone who cares for animals for a living. I rated this place a 2 because at least he didn’t charge us for the appointment.

I was very disappointed with my experience here. My hamster developed an eye infection, and I immediately called several places saturday and Sunday to try to get her in. This animal hospital was the earliest available option for a vet that could handle small pets such as this, and I had an appointment for Tuesday. The vet, Dr. Weather i believe, showed no empathy or remote compassion for my hamster or myself. He did not ask any questions about her condition, instead he grabbed her and began trying to remove the scab that formed over her eye. While I know he had to be somewhat rough, as she would not just let him do it, He did not try to calm her Or treat her nicely at all. He informed me she may have to loose her eye, and did not remove the rest of the scab as it could damage her eye below. He prescribed her antibiotics and ointment to try for a week, and wanted to see her after 7 days to evaluate it. When he was done with her (my hamster) he put her back in the box I bought her in. She had some blood on her surrounding fur and whiskers, and she sat there shaking. He said he would be back with the care items for her, but instead sent in his assistant. I had a few more questions about future prevention and proctor response. He did not clean her up, or put any of the ointment on. The time spent with him was likely no more then 7 minutes, and overall I was charged $135 for the experience. She died the next morning. While she was in bad shape before, she was very clearly traumatized and so much worse after the visit. She barely moved, didn't eat, and just laid in the corner looking like a husk of a hamster for her last 15 hours of living after the vet appointment. I feel I was very overcharged for a vet visit who showed no kindness to me or my hamster. Very disappointed, and I will not be returning for future pet problems.

We found Northwest Animal Hospital three years ago when we moved to Boise. Our cat, Alley, has been well taken care of each time we've brought her. Sadly, Alley passed away last night, June 23rd. I called Northwest this afternoon to let them know so they could update their records. About 45 minutes ago, my husband and I received flowers delivered to our home. They were from Northwest. A card was included, expressing sympathy for the loss of our Alley. We are touched beyond words. Thank you, Northwest Animal Hospital.

My neighbor's cat is our side sweetie. Daisy needed attention for a laceration and Northwest Animal Hospital saw to it with great care and attention right on time. We are grateful, so is Daisy.

From the time I entered the building I was treated with respect and the Vet even came from her busy schedule to have a conversation with me about any concerns. It was as if I was the patient "They treated my pet Macaroni like he was the only pet in the building "AWESOME!!!

Do not let Ashley shave your dog. She's the new groomer at the vets office and she will turn you away if your dog has more then 1 coat. I wasted my time and morning to be turned away this morning by her. I 10/10 would NOT recommend using her for grooming!!!!

Dr. Weather is the WORST veterinarian. It was like pulling teeth to get him to help my cat who had bloody urine; he tried telling me it was normal and that my cat just had an inflamed bladder and that there was not much else he could do. I was so upset by the fact that he was hardly willing to help my animal along with his horrible bedside demeanor that I ended up walking out halfway through our second visit and went to another vet. The new vet prescribed a pain injection immediately and said my animal was in serious condition, and thanked me for advocating for my cat and removing him from a bad clinic. I wish I would’ve never wasted my time with Dr. Weather. I am thankful that I brought him to a new vet (only wish I did it sooner) as God only knows what would’ve happened to my cat if I kept him in Dr. Weather’s care. Dr. Weather (if he can even be called that) should have his veterinarian license revoked and should be dismissed immediately. Please, spare your animals and avoid this place at all costs.

I will be eternally grateful to the doctors and staff at Northwast Animal Hospital for all of their kindness and compassion when it was time to say goodbye to our beloved 21 year old cat. They were so thoughful through every step of the process. Even though I assume they have to do this routenly, they still showed so much empathy for me and for my sweet kitty and were very respectful of my emotions. I will treasure the paw print keepsake I recieved with my cats name, and I was beyond touched when a bouquet of flowers arrived at my home the next day from the staff and doctors expressing their condolonces.
