Escape the Crate Boise, Idaho

No chance I'll ever use this facility to care for our dogs, strictly due to the manager on duty today. Scheduled and prepaid a "Meet & Greet" a couple weeks ago to graduate our 1yo rescued Yorkie rescue from our daily dog park visits. We also took our super socialized 4yo Aussie-Doodle. I advised that the pup came from a hoarding situation just two months ago and is not familiar with leashes, as she has only been with us two months. ****I suggested the manager carry the 10lb pup, but she elected to drag her across the slick floor by the collar and leash. **** Instead of a gradual introduction of our two dogs to the pack, as advised on their website and as advised when I scheduled the "Meet & Greet", they were released immediately into the group of 20-30 animals. For the Meet & Greet, I was also refused a view of the interior of the facility, until I demanded it. What are you hiding? Did you realize you hadn't followed protocol by dumping our dogs in the play yard and didn't want to get caught? You realize that the owner pays the tab, not the dog, and some of us aren't willing to leave our animals in the care of strangers, without reassurance for the safety and well-being. A quick view of the play area was not too much to ask. How long did that take, 2 minutes? Excuses that the entire staff is "too busy" to let me view the space at scheduled 9:45 drop off Meet & Greet is very poor customer service. Grainy video or a later tour upon pickup were insufficient to reassure me that you're a kind person. The managers treatment of me, as a customer, gave me no sense that my dogs would be properly cared for. As for pickup, the traumatized Yorkie was cornered and grabbed by three staff members instead of using my offer to call her out with grace. Is that an approved or recommended method by trainers? Think a smart dog is going to let you get her again? In closing, the facility is very nice and clean and didn't smell like a kennel. The manager deserves to be locked in one of the private kennels and undergo training.

Took my two girls in for their first meet and greet and it went really well. The facility is very clean and organized and my dogs came home very happy! It’s a relief to have a safe place for my girls when I can’t travel with them!

I am very dissatisfied with the service I received from Escape today. We have been using their services as needed for the last 3.5 years and we have always been pleased until today. I was contacted and informed that we have until March 14th to use our 11 full day passes for our two dogs. I told them I was disappointed with the short notice as I had confirmed time and time again that the packages do not expire. The person I talked with told me that I had been misinformed and that the packages expired 9 months after purchase and that they were updating the policy to 6 months. I let the woman know that we are unable to fully utilize the package within the time allotted and I was disappointed to be throwing my money away. Instead of apologizing, she continued to point out the new policy definitions on repeat. She was unforgiving because we originally purchased this package 3 years ago and we “had plenty of time to use it”. I do agree that we have had plenty of time, but, one of the reasons we bought such a large package in the first place was because we had confirmed with the staff that it would not expire. I am further disappointed because a month ago we left our two dogs for two nights and gave them quite a lot of money for that boarding— in fact, double what we had been quoted!! We were told at the time of booking that because our dogs were boarding together that they would have a discount of half price. That was NOT the discount that was applied. We ended up giving up nearly $300 for two days of fun. We didn’t complain at the time we picked them up because we did not want to argue; but, now that I am being given a 3 week notice to use 11 days of daycare I cannot bite my tongue! I asked for more time to use our package- my request was June 6th but they will not extend it, at all. Sad! Less than 30 days notice for a package to expire (when I was told before that they do not) is unfair. I will no longer be recommending Escape to our friends or family. There are better options that cost less and have friendlier service.

I have my puppy enrolled in Escape the Crate's puppy preschool program. It's great for socializing puppies before they're old enough to be in normal daycare, and teaching them manners during their most important development stage. The staff at Escape the Crate is friendly and knowledgeable. The location is clean and organized, and they will take you on a tour of the facility if you wish so you can see how everything works. I knocked off a star because I found it very difficult to get information about puppy preschool (phone messages were unreturned but I did get some info through email), and difficult to sign my puppy up for preschool. If I hadn't been so determined to get her socialized and Escape the Crate had the best (possibly only) option for doing that, I would've just given up. Aside from difficulty getting the initial info and getting signed up, I've found value in my puppy attending Puppy Preschool. I'd recommend just bringing your dog in on a simple slip lead with no collar though because dogs play naked for safety.

We have been going here for the last several years. This holiday I thought I made an appointment for my dog milo to visit. I called and we apparently had not and there were no openings. I ended the call and was frantic to find another place for my dog because we were leaving for Colorado the next day. Alexis gave me a call back and she found a spot at their other location. She was amazing and went over and beyond to help me. Thank you so much Alexis. This is the kind of care you receive at Escape

Our pup, Dewie loves Escape the Crate! We started taking him to help with his separation anxiety during the day. He has received the best care, and gets SO EXCITED to go play when I drop him off. The employees genuinely care about the dogs and take the time to get to know them individually. We couldn't be happier with our experience thus far. Highly recommend Escape the Crate!

We have boarded our English Springer spaniel at Escape several times. She just loves the swimming pool there so we can’t take her anywhere else. She gets lots of exercise and personsl attention from the staff. Highly recommend Escape.

Love taking our dog here. I can always count on them to take good care of our dog when we are out of town and we really like that they have web cameras so we can check in on him! They also just started doing reports that they send you after your pups stay which is really awesome ????????

We love our experience with puppy preschool. Absolutely in love with the staff.

I can't say enough good things about Escape. My lab has trained with both Ky and Jasmine, and her behavior has improved dramatically. We both like to attend the monthly, free group training sessions offered by Escape to reinforce what she's learned. The facility is clean and large with plenty of space for the dogs to play. I especially like the fact that private care is offered for dogs with special needs. The staff is caring and professional. Escape Canine Retreat & Spa has earned my five stars.

Our dogs have a wonderful time at Escape. They have always been safe and extremely well cared for. The staff go above and beyond - truly - to be responsive, helpful, and caring. The facility is sparkling clean. It is large and bright with pools and a lot of outside room to play.

I currently take my 2 1/2 yr old to adult daycare 2 times a week and my 20 week old puppy to Puppy Preschool. My dogs LOVE going to Escape. The pup is learning to socialize during the pandemic, as well as getting some basic training. My older dog gets good play exercise and likes to cool off in the pool. I really like the staff here too (Joplin location). I highly recommend all dogs get this experience!

My puppy, Astro, started at Escape the Crate Joplin for their new puppy pre-school class and then transitioned into the doggy daycare once their trainer recommended he was old enough. I am SO happy with ETC. Once I pull into the lot, Astro is excitedly whining, barking, and wiggling all over the car. He pulls me all the way to the door and cannot wait to go inside, and immediately jumps on whoever comes to take him in because he cannot contain his enthusiasm. Every Thursday after pre-school I would get a report card with information on what skills they worked on, how he was doing with socialization, and it included photos and videos of him and his puppy friends. I no longer get those report cards now that he is at doggy daycare, but that's okay, because sometimes he appears on their Instagram or I can catch him on the camera. Astro loves his time at ETC, which means I love it too. He doesn't even notice me leaving him when I'm dropping it off, he is TOO EXCITED TO PLAY. After I pick him up, he immediately passes out in the car because he's just too pooped from his day of fun. I wish their cameras worked consistently, but it seems like they are aware of the problem (due to a comment on their camera page) and are attempting to improve it. Other than that, I have literally no complaints and all the praise for the world for ETC. Thank you for giving Astro a home away from home and bringing so much love and joy into his life.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND. The employees are amazing and really care for your pup like he/she is their own. We go to the Joplin location - it is clean, Bear has a great time and is comfortable when he is at Escape the Crate. 5 star pet resort!

Our PWD, Maebee, LOVES going to Escape the Crate! She has been in Puppy Kindergarten with Kira and it has been a fantastic experience. Kira has worked with Maebee in such a positive manner. I highly recommend Escape the Crate (Joplin location) for your dog!

I love Escape and more importantly my dog loves it! It always gives me peace of mind knowing my dog is somewhere safe and having a blast when he goes to doggy daycare. The staff is wonderful and there is no way to describe the gratitude that I have for the people that make this place so fantastic. Thank you!
