We needed to move up a surgery for our puppy and they were so accommodating and understanding. They did everything they could to move up her surgery. They were able to move it up and treated her with such love and kindness.

1000% recommend Dr. Gupta and his staff. My husky was diagnosed with a rare zinc deficiency from another vet on the mainland and we were recently relocated to Hawaii. I was feeling overwhelmed trying to find a new vet who knew about this condition. After many vet visits elsewhere, I finally found Dr. Gupta. He is extremely knowledgable and thorough with his exam. He even reached out to other specialists in the field and got back with me the next day. I can't express enough gratitude for him and his kind staff.

I took my Frenchie in today and was greeted to the sweetest and best vet tech Brittany D. We had to sit in our car to wait for our dog to be seen. She came and got my dog and made sure to carry my dog because her leg was swollen. She also came out many times to check on us and give us up to date information. Overall, coming to the emergency vet is always stressful but the service and kindness helped ease the pain. I would definitely recommend this place.

We just moved to the island and went to VCA Pearl city after a few husky owners recommended them and they were amazing! The staff was great and the vet was caring and so sweet to our boy. He understood how vocal our boy is and was so helpful about getting him on a diet plan. Amazing service!!

I have had a great experience here from first calling. I was originally referred to another veterinary hospital for orthopedic consultation, and when I called that place they were very rude to me on the phone and just said “we’re pretty booked up.” Which is expected from a specialty vet so I expected a far-out appointment but they didn’t even bother to offer any future dates. So I got a different referral to here, VCA Family, and the staff were so nice when I called. It was a huge difference. They scheduled me (yes, far out but that’s what I was trying to do and expected!). When I came for my consult and x-rays, Dr. Lam was extremely nice and came out to talk to me prior to x rays and offered why they would be useful but didn’t push me to do them. When I did do them, he came out personally to talk me through the results and even brought a model of the bones to show me what was going on. My primary care vet had predicted surgery would be required for my dogs situation, but Dr Lam gave me pros and cons to surgical and non-surgical options, and let me choose. I chose surgery, and they got me in as soon as they could, which originally was going to be 2 months out but they got me in 1 month. My dog just had the surgery and he is doing very well and I can tell he was in good care. Finally, the surgery he had is very expensive, but my final price came in on the lower end of the possible range, and less than I originally expected, so I was very happy about that! Also cost conscious wise, when my dog had his original x rays, they gave a try doing it without sedation to save on costs, and it worked, so I was very grateful they gave it a try and saved me some money there too!

Second time we took a pet here for emergency service. Second time they failed to diagnose and charged hundreds. This time our dog went lame (limping and wobbling while standing...hesitant to walk...yapping/whimpering when moved or held) for unknown reasons. They took her in and said she walked fine in a room of other dogs so they couldn't find anything. Why didn't they examine her by herself? Animals display strength amongst others and won't show weakness. Did they notice hesitancy and a wobbly gait? Said they did a blood test but we wonder as no sign of blood drawn. The next day she couldn't walk at all. Apparently there was a tick (or at least the head) on her hind leg...we found the bump when trying to move her. Once removed she was better in a day. Did VCA even do a full examination? For $150 just to show up I'd expect no less. Seriously, this wasn't a hard diagnosis for them. The temporary paralysis could have been avoided if they did as well as the angst of our dog and family. Shame on us for thinking the "professionals" would know better than Google. But with covid and us unable to witness the examination, we are left unaware of what kind of service is actually given...doesn't mean they should provide any less. Only Pet ER on this side and I'd hate to think they take advantage of that at the expense of our loved pets for a quick profit...but after my last 2 failed and pocketbook breaking visits, I wonder.

I’m sad to say the doctor we saw kept insisting on putting our kitten down even though it could be saved. (Taken in around midnight) We had to push the doctor for treatment plans and options like x-rays and blood tests. We went with our gut and fought for the kitten’s life even though the doctor kept insisting the prognosis of the kitten was not looking good. Well, we went to numerous different vets after and they all agreed the kitten could be treated. We gave him the proper treatments and he has made a full recovery. Moral of the story is, go with your gut and if you feel your pet still has fight in them, fight for them. If we went with what this doctor first prescribed our sweet kitten would be dead. Terrible doctor we had to deal with, but we did have a friendly technician so he gets a star.

Today a male receptionist answered the phone and pretended not to be able to hear me so he could hang up. He said "I can't hear you, hang up and call back" I know he could hear me because when I raised my voice and said loudly "can you hear me now" he paused in mid sentence then said "I told you to call back." Then hung up. When I called back the phone rang about 2 minutes before someone picked up. Didn't think anyone was going to answer. No one ever has problems hearing me. Not ever. Lazy people do the weirdest things to avoid work. This place is already way overpriced, almost double of other places. I only go here because it's nearby, but it's just not worth it with this weird, rude and lazy receptionist working there.

Last night(2-11-21) our dog Stoney got ahold of a bufo toad and started vomiting and having seizures. We ended up calling here to see if they could help and whenever they said bring him, we’ll be waiting for you they meant it. As soon as we hit the door they were there and took him back before we had time to say anything. The staff was very informative about treatment and prices, which didn’t matter, we just wanted them to do whatever needed to be done so we could bring him home. They told us Stoney was in bad shape and would be staying there for at least 24 hours. They said they’d call immediately if anything happened so we could come up there. Around 7:30 this morning we got a call that Stoney had responded to treatment extremely well and we could come get him. This place saved Stoney’s life and I couldn’t be more grateful. Thank you all for taking care of him!

Thank you VCA Family and Oahu Veterinary Specialty Center, Darla our American Bulldog of 6yrs, passed away tonight. We called VCA to ask for assistance in helping her, make this transition, they were kind and accommodating, They brought Darla to us, snuggled in a warm blanket and allowed us "As much time as we needed " to spend with her before saying Aloha. Dr. Jang, originally from Canada was very compassionate and understanding and shared a genuine care for Darla and our Family. Truly, Earth Angels among us. We love you Darla, until we see you again at "Rainbow Bridge", we will miss you everyday.

Don't come in during unconventional hours, you'll get a ton of attitude from the vet if you ask more questions than they're used to. They did give me the total vet cost while I was there, but ended up calling me back when I got home saying they had to charge me more for something that I thought was included. Please communicate better between night staff and morning staff, if you're there between staff change they will forget things that they said they'll give to you. As for the comment below, I actually sent out a lengthy email at the same time as this google review and have yet to receive a response. Goes to show they don’t check their personal email before checking their public reviews.

TERRIBLE, RUDE and UNCARING. Took a homeless cat which I wanted very much to adopt there to get scanned for a chip, and find out how to adopt and get him home on the mainland. Literally, I filled out basic info on a sheet. They came and took him, I thought to scan and do a preliminary health check or whatever. She never came back out. We sat there for 15 minutes and finally had to go to the counter to find out what to do. We knew there was a process to adopt, and we were ok with it. But due to their lazy and uninformative staff, the cat is lost in the system. They did not provide and details on what I needed to do....someone will call you is all they said. I questioned this, and I was right. Great job. Now he will be dropped back homeless if we are lucky, and killed if not. Worst experience ever! UPDATE: Yes, he was just dropped back on the street, just as we thought. These people never let anyone know someone wanted to rescue him. Nor did the Humane Society. We were able to get assistance from someone at the Humane society finally. He is home safe with us, has had medical care and is very happy. No thanks to this place.

I brought my pup, a 10 y/o lab with a history of severe hip dysplasia, who had deteriorated rapidly over the last few days (unable to use his back legs) here on an emergency visit. We had a visit scheduled ($70) for today (Monday) but he was in such bad shape that I brought him Saturday for the emergency visit ($140) He was seen for less than 30 minutes and we were given a bunch of arthritis and painkiller meds. I attempted to contact them today, With questions about his recovery and an update, something just felt wrong, with no response.(I was told the vet I saw who informed me she would personally be calling me today about a wheelchair contact for him, is not even in today!) and the other vets were more than likely to busy to get back to me today. We brought him elsewhere immediately and upon a physical exam (no X-rays) it was immediately noted this was a spinal injury and not to do with his hip dysplasia. I broke down, the clinic didn’t even charge us for our visit and now my baby is going to have an in home euthanasia next week. VCA is looking for money only- it was &570 for less than an hour of service and NO help at all. I am disgusted. Please take your babies to Kapolei. I also witnessed an older gentleman with his 14 y/o pup in the waiting room getting baited for so many unnecessary tests that he was falling for out if trust for this appalling clinic and love for his beloved pet. DO NOT GIVE VCA THE TIME OF DAY! Capitalism and inflation at its WORST!

Just brought my dog, Nova, here in the middle of the night and I'm so glad I did. The entire staff was so friendly and kind. The price was very fair, especially as an emergency visit. I'm thankful to now have a place I know and trust to bring my dogs to for those middle of the night situations.

Our pets have been clients for over a year now. Always great service. Exceptionally friendly and transparent about costs. They saved us money by letting us know about a service we really didn’t need. Highly recommend.

Very friendly nurse but I do not recommend this place to anyone. We were told it was $150 to see the doctor and we left paying $603 with no diagnosis and no solutions. They play on your heartstrings while they request permission to perform services without disclosing the cost of those services. At the end you get a huge bill with no answers and only more suggestions to spend your money. Was told to contact customer service via email In their comments below this comment, sent an email and never received a response.

I was here a few months ago with my dog for a emergency surgery. It was an extremely stressful situation and the staff made it such a horrible experience. The vet tech who was responsible for relaying information on the procedure and his mom condition was extremely RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL. I was shocked at how nasty and passive aggressive she was being during my hard time simply because I had additional questions. Maybe she was having a rough morning BUT the fact of the matter is it wasn’t about her and how she felt at that moment, it’s about the customer and their emergency situation! I don’t care if I had over 100 questions all of them should be answered respectfully and professionally so that I can make the best decision for my baby! All of My payment options were never fully explained as I was told I’d have to pay $4,000 on the spot to even leave him to be treated. Turns out there was an additional option available to me that would waive that fee BUT wasn’t explained until after I was there for almost 2 hours!!! They need to understand our pets are just not our pets they are our family. They completely disregard this by the lack of care in their service, especially in emergency situations the lack of sympathetic/empathetic care is disgusting.

I took my dog in Friday for a potential blockage in his intestines. They did the x-rays and when I asked to see them they acted like it would be this whole big thing to show me. That a tech would have to take a pic on their phone to show me. They then recommend an ultrasound but the person to do the ultrasound wasn't in and would be in Saturday morning and could do it at 8. I agreed and they kept him over night. Come saturday morning I call to see how the ultrasound went and to my surprise there was no tech there to do it and they wanted to go in for an exploratory surgery. Mind you my dog is my world but hes older and I did not want to operate in him unless it was 100% necessary. Then they tell me its going to be $8,000-9,000.. I am willing to go to any lengths for my boy but thats absolutely insane. I couldn't get straight answers from them nor could I speak to the dr. It all just left a bad taste in my mouth and I did not feel comfortable allowing them to work on my dog. I took him elsewhere and he's in excellent hands. I feel as though VCA saw someone who dearly loves their pet and thought they could just get all my money.. now I'm out an extra $2,000. They did give him fluids so for that I am thankful. But I will never go there again. I feel they play on our heart strings to get our money.

I had one more shot left that had to wait four weeks after all the original shots. My doctor said all we have to do is weigh him, get the shot and you’ll be on your way with no extra examination fee. I went there to get the extra shot and was charged the examination fee. I told the ladies (Lori and the girl sitting next to her) at the front desk what I was told and they laughed in my face and demanded I pay examination fee and told me that was a misconception. Uh no, that’s what the doctor told me. So I called the next day to let management know what happened and management did not do a thing about it. I gave them the opportunity to do the right thing and they failed. Highly disappointed in the VCA family and Oahu veterinary specialty Center.

DO NOT GO THERE ! THEY MESSED UP MY BABIES REMAINS AFTER MY BABY DIED IN THEIR CARE ! NO APOLOGY .... NOTHING ! I am still waiting for my babies foot prints ! Terrible VET and VET TECH ... rude and absolutely no sympathy or empathy . They did not care for my baby before she died , while she died and even after she died they were terrible by mixing up her remains with another dog ! Worst experience ever !

Today was a very sad day. I brought in a feral cat that was a victim of a hit and run car accident. The poor creature was suffering so badly. The VCA staff rushed her right into the clinic. Unfortunately the cat didn’t survive. However, throughout the whole event the doctors and clinicians were so sympathetic to the poor animal’s plight. Even with the cat’s passing VCA wouldn’t accept any payment or donation. These folks truly operate from the heart with love and charity. I could never say enough. . Bless them all.

I have had no issues with VCA staff or the Vets there. The issue I have is with how they handle the pet Care Club and how they handle cancelations. I am in the Military and can get orders to leave the area. According to VCA, I cannot transfer Care Club benefits over to another VCA in the area I am PCSing to so I have to cancel. If you cancel they charge a very high fee which is either the cost of the services you used while using the care club or the remainder months left on the Care Club contract. Military do not have a choice when they may have to leave an area, and are afforded protections against this type of activity. If you are Military and need a Vet do not get the Care Club. Edit: After speaking with VCA at length about this issue. They have agreed to transfer the Car Club to the area we are PCSing to.

Less than one star. Did an X-ray for absolutely no reason. No reason at all. Did it because of what was obviously a hernia after getting neutered because the vet thought there was “intestines” outside the body. Over charged for no reason.

Horrible horrible place, deserves no star, my 7 years old dog had heart failure, went there in the middle of the night. They know he was dying , but won't tell us and still tried to sell us an $7800 icu plan. Lucky we didn't buy that. After we paid whatever they charged us, they won't give us the xtray copy when we asked for it, they said it would be transferred to my vet's office. Second day went to the pet hospital in waikele, the vet told us he might pass anytime, had to call vca 10 plus times to ask for the xtray and the test we paid over $500 there in vca. Really? Even our friend told us they known for cheating people, wish we would know that earlier. For your dog's sake, please don't go to this place! I honestly believe they don't care about the animals but money only.

Brought my dog in for what seemed to be an ear infection. I paid thousands for all this treatment, check ups, medicine just for them to say “he’s not going to make it” my biggest regret was taking him here. Google and yelp reviews seemed not bad. They probably pay people to write good reviews. I’m still in shock and awe of this place and the audacity of the “doctors” and “vet techs” I wouldn’t be surprised too if everyone here faked the qualifications to work here. stay away from this desolate place! Disgusting green eyed monsters. RIP MR. PIBB ANOTHER YOUNG SOULS GONE TOO YOUNG.
