I had been going to another vet for years. When my dog was having an emergency, that vet said they couldn’t see her for a week. I called Stone Mountain Animal Hospital out of desperation and Dr Aponte made time to see her the next day. The entire staff made us feel so welcome and was beyond amazing throughout all our experience. They were attentive and thorough and even called to follow up with us after hours to check on Lucy. After a couple of visits and surgery, Lucy is 100% better. To top it off the prices for her treatment were incredibly reasonable. While the practice isn’t the most modern, you have the benefit of the old school personal touch you will not receive at a practice that cares more about their appearance than the care of you and your animal. I plan to continue to bring all our pets here for the foreseeable future.

We took our German Shepherd to Stone Mountain Animal Hospital today. We just started the skin treatment, but this review is more about the people than the medicine. Everyone - especially Jaimy - was awesome! Connie was fantastic to talk to on the phone, Dr. Aponte is fantastic and so obvously cares, and Jaimy seems to genuinely treat every animal like she loves them. The team went above and beyond, and they have earned us as customers forever.

RUDE receptionist. Answered the phone and yells "you have to hold the line please" which is fine to say in a reasonable tone, but please don't yell.

We love Dr. Aponte! She truly cares about our two dogs and we love how she always puts out front how much things will cost so we can elect whether or not to do some tests and so we aren't blindsided by the bill. I would whole heartedly recommend this business.

Very reasonable fees and service. Dr. Aponte is on top of her game and very good with all pets. Mike is Buster’s owner and is very picky who lets care for his Beautiful Fawn Pug of 8 dog years.

When my 20 year old cat died they allowed me to mourn and did not make fun of me. I have been with SMV for 17 years. They worked with my budget. The receptionist has grown to be more gentle hearted over the years. She has grown into her job. She and Connie allowed me to rush my baby over when he had just died. They allowed me to view the body as if at a funeral 2 times!!! This was very healing as I am bad with death. They brought my cat in ceremoniously in a towel and allowed me to cry for 30 minutes. Yes. They allowed me to be a crazy pet owner and I appreciated it. I have recovered from my pets loss faster since they allowed me to say good bye. Dr. Ponte always was kind about my wanting to stay on a BUDGET with my cat. I avoided unnecessary procedures and even did not take my indoor cat in for several years as I had been sick. They always treated me like I was family. I did hold my cat down but that cuts down on costs, I believe.

We are back - with our cats - a 2nd time, after a very poor departing experience with Avondale. However, if it weren't for Dr. Aponte and Connie, who have been very understanding and caring of our needs, we would be gone again. Selective customer service at reception, simply doesn't work for us - in particular, me. It is what drove us away the first time and it hasn't gotten any better. Last visit, my wife & I waited 15 minutes in the parking lot for our bill, simply because we got ignored. Going to the vet is not a favorite experience of our cats. But, that does not mean it should also be a bad experience for me (us) - or, anyone else.

Such a knowledgeable vet and staff!! So passionate..It's a shame the owner of the building, Dr. Jeffrey Brown, doesn't give a damn that the whole place looks like it's falling apart, while his "OTHER office " is so nice....shame on him! Dr Aponte is a great vet, and some people see the office and turn away, not giving her a chance.. because the facility is in shambles..but I assure you she and her staff are top notch in every way!!

I took my dog in to get his medication. They could only fill half of it. The veterinarian then instructed the receptionist to tell me that it would not make a difference if he missed two days and that they could fill it today. I asked to speak with the veterinarian she was unavailable both times. So I called a few other places and they said the medication loses its potency if not given consecutively we were refused a refund or any kind of explanation. Every time we go here we have a problem with the receptionist and it just seems like they are very unprepared at this establishment. Hopefully they can do better get some better staff and improve. I would definitely start with the receptionist. Reading the reviews from the last couple months it seems like everyone has the same consensus that she is very rude, inconsiderate, and unprepared. That's the first person that interacts with all your clients. If they're not warming and inviting which she is not at all, that directly reflects on your business. Hope you guys can improve for all our pets sakes....

You can’t make an appointment to speak to the Ver about your pet, even if they are a patient there. I’m switching vets.

Rude. Dirty. Incompanent. Sounds harsh, but it’s what I experienced. I brought my three dogs in to have nails trimmed for each of them. Front office receptionist was unfriendly and did not even acknowledge pets. Not used to going to a pet care facility and having people be so unfriendly toward animals. Biggest issue however was vet tech who came out to get dogs but did not hardly mutter two words to us. No communication at ALL. Just silently going through motions without clearly explaining plan or what she was doing. Turns out she planned on having us in the room to hold our dogs down while she attempted to clips nails — and she had as much trependation as we experience at home on our own! She was ONLY able to get ONE paw complete on our small 11 lb puppy, and then left room abruptly without a word. After a confused wait, I realized this was ABSURD!! I should not be made to hold my pets down and help her to do the job we are paying them to do. It’s very distressing to watch your dogs get their nails cut, and I’ve never had to be present or help a professional with that in all the years I’ve been a dog owner. I walked out of the vet room and found her relaxed at the front desk, casually talking with the receptionist and vet. I Told them we were leaving because this was not at all what we were paying for, and left. The job was not finished for any of the three dogs, after being there for 45 minutes. Place was also dirty in the vet tech rooms. Multiple Spiders and webs in the corners and a film of dirt running down the walls.

They are very caring and gentle. They have rescue cats they care for in the office. The hours are reasonable as they take appointments until about 4:30 or so. They stayed with my dog and I after his minor procedure. They genuinely love the animals they care for.
