Just like with human doctors, it’s important to find a vet that truly listens and understands your concerns. While we may not be experts in vet med, we do usually know our pets best. My last vet was very nice and knowledgeable, but did not seem to understand my concerns about Maya’s anxiety and basically just dismissed them. I first took Maya to CAC for grooming and was so impressed with how responsive and helpful their office was. So I decided to try them as her vet. Dr. Dawkins was fantastic with Maya. She listened to all of my concerns and asked great questions. She got down on the floor with Maya to assess her anxiety. Then she fully explained the treatment plan and next steps. I’m thankful to find a vet who understands that Maya’s anxiety is real and who is helping us to figure out how to manage it. The office staff is also fantastic. They are very quick to respond on the portal and are always super helpful. My one (minor) negative is that I did wait a long time to see the vet and then again for the tech to bring meds/paperwork. But that’s a very minor issue and I don’t mind waiting for quality care - I wouldn’t want them to rush through my appointment either so I don’t mind waiting while they attend to others.

I've been bringing my pets to Chattahoochee Animal Clinic for years. Everyone is always so pleasant and cheerful, and my pets get top quality care from the techs and the doctors. I cannot recommend this clinic enough.

The care and professionalism at this practice is outstanding. We had an emergency situation with our elderly dog and were directed to CAC because it was close to our home. Valiant efforts were made to save our sweet girl, but unfortunately she passed away. Though we are not regular clients, Dr. Smith and the CAC staff were warm, caring, and phenomenal in such a heartbreaking situation. They gave us time and space to say goodbye and we are eternally grateful (the picture shows the sign they had on the door of the room we were in). We highly recommend.

Dr. Smith and his team always take great care of our two dogs, Teddy and Charlie. Everyone takes the time to answer any question we have, ensure our boys are happy and healthy, and always do a great job making them feel comfortable. A special thanks to both Chris and Warren. You both are wonderful with Teddy and Charlie. Their anxiety level always goes way down when they know you’re there helping them. Our family is grateful to have such wonderful people caring for our four legged boys!

I’ve been going to Chattahoochee Animal Clinic for about 3 years now. Dr. Smith has always great! I never write reviews for anything, but he really went above and beyond for my dog so I had to share my experience. My Yorkie wasn’t feeling well tonight and I emailed to see if I should bring her in tomorrow. I figured I would get a response in the morning, but Dr. Smith almost immediately responded to my email. Without his quick response I would’ve been up all night worrying and over thinking.

We've been going to Chattahoochee Animal Clinic since before Dr. Smith bought it, and we just love it (especially with him as owner). As a vet, he's gentle and focused on the animals, causing our anxious pup to be at ease almost instantly. He's honest and straight-forward with owners, and he has this incredible talent of recognizing how much we love our pets while also being a strong advocate for our pets' needs since they don't have a voice. We've had to make the impossible decision to put two of our dogs to sleep, and Dr. Smith was exactly the vet to have by your side. He knew it was the hardest day, and he treated it as such in every possible way. The staff at CAC from front office to vet tech are the best. Kirsten at the front desk knows exactly who we are, and she's always warm and helpful. Everyone else has been nothing short of gentle and compassionate with us and our animals. They understand that our pets mean something to us and treat them and us with the utmost care and respect. We've never had a vet tech we didn't love. Oh, and our Lola just loves vet tech belly rubs! One final note: A friend recently asked us what kind of vet we had. There are vets that clearly take advantage of the owner's love for their pet by selling all kinds of expensive services and products that give the illusion of helping but don't. There are vets that don't listen and feel disinterested. I've even had vets that talk to me and don't even acknowledge that my pet is in the room! Dr. Smith and Dr. Dawkins are not that kind of vet. They are honest with owners and compassionate with the animals. They are the people you go to when you want an genuine assessment and a plan to move forward in the best interest of your pet. And they let you know what costs you are looking at along the way so there are no surprises.

I can’t speak to good value because I haven’t been to a vet in so long but in just one visit he has quite literally changed my life and more importantly the life of my dog/teacup Yorky. She has had unrelenting stomach problems for 10 years and despite repeated visits to her prior vet and my feeding her every 4 to 6 hours so her stomach doesn’t get empty which always caused her to throw up… It’s just been 10 Years of standing on my head to make sure she gets food! And she’s skinny healthy but skinny and rarely could just chop down a good meal like a dog usually would do . Dr Smith? immediately knew that it was IBS and not just acid reflux. I have had to cook special food for my dog for months and feed her every two hours around the clock and I have this new food she’s already eating and her stomach is great as she is just chopping it down at every meal. He was passionate extremely intelligent very well spoken explained everything to whatever extent you needed, every detail. You can tell he’s a very caring very intelligent and truly loves animals and everything he does! As it seems to be with truly great doctors/veterinarians his staff is just fantastic. They went out of their way even chasing me down in the parking lot to show me a product I need to find. It was one of the best experiences I’ve had in years and I am completely so thankful! I will post again in a month or two as time goes on with my dog. Some of us see our animals as almost children and they can be so stressful on us when they are having a hard time especially spitting up foam every day and not wanting to eat. That’s almost the opposite of what any dog should do and this poor little dog has had to endure 10 years of this which is unimaginable! So thank you Dr Smith? and the five women that were there helping him today. Wonderful people

We have had a very good experience with CAC. The staff is very courteous, helpful, and knowledgeable. I appreciate how team follows up with us after a doctor visit and takes care of our Tucker when boarding. We feel comfortable and confident with CAC as our veterinarian provider.

I would recommend Chattahoochee Animal clinic to any pet lover out there! They haven’t taken great care of my epileptic dog and have stayed late to provide emergency care at the end of the day. I had a prescription issue with a pharmacy and Dr Smith called on Saturday and Sunday to be sure the issue was resolved. These folks work hard, care about your fur babies (I have cats too) and do great work!

I have been bringing my pets to Chattahoochee Animal Clinic for several years now. I make the drive from Woodstock, passing many other vet clinics along the way, because I love Dr. Dawkins and her true passion for animals. But I also love every employee I’ve met here at Chattahoochee. From the receptionist who answers the phone and greets you to the vet tech who checks you in, they are all so friendly and professional. It’s nice to walk in and be recognized at a place of business and it makes you know you and your pet are truly in good hands.

My "herd" and I love CAC! Drs. Smith and Dawkins - and their staff - are caring, compassionate and professional. You can tell they really care about their patients. Kirsten and the rest of the office staff are very friendly, helpful and make sure I get answers to my questions. The groomers are awesome, too! Everyone is great with all three of my dogs, and they always remember us when we arrive.

Just dropped my dog off at CAC this morning and felt compelled to write this review, as they are there once again for me and my boy Roscoe. Both Dr. Smith and Dr. Dawkins have been so helpful on email and the phone with my questions about Roscoe after his surgery. The fact that they maintain contact after hours and coordinated with me a first AM drop off for Roscoe to get additional fluids after not eating too well last night is awesome. I feel that they are walking right along with us to see his recovery through. I have complete confidence that when I leave him with them for the day he is getting everything he needs to get back to his crazy, happy self. Thanks CAC

As a first time pet owner, Chattahoochee Animal Clinic has been a wonderful place to take our puppy. The veterinarians are knowledgeable and very patient, allowing time in their appointment schedule to care for the puppy and answer our questions. I really appreciate their personal follow-up after appointments to confirm that the puppy is doing well after a treatment, shots, etc. They are very responsive to phone inquiries, including after hours. We have been very pleased with the CAC and recommend them highly to others.

Since my other review “disappeared” We brought our dog in due to her having stomach issues. They did an X-Ray and saw something hard in her stomach. Dr. Smith said most likely it was a piece of bone. He advised we leave her there all day and see if it moves into GI Tract. By the end of the day, it hasn’t moved. He recommended immediate surgery due to the fact that this “object” would cause more problems if it wasn’t removed. We agreed to the surgery, paid the money, and waited... a few hours later, we get a call from the vet-tech asking if we had given her Pepto-Bismol. We had, but they had never asked us in any conversation prior. Apparently Bismuth is the only medication that shows up on X-Rays. So. Long story short. Our dog had to experience and UNNECESSARY Vet-Recommended surgery for a medication that would have dissolved on its own. It took over 2 months for our dog to fully recover. On top of that, we had still paid the Vet! He did waive a “few” of the lines on our bill, but we still paid cover $2500 for this 24-hour mistake. After this mistake, we still had to deal with a recovering dog. My wife took her in, and while waiting heard one of the employees talking bad about us and the situation. At the same time, we were only back because they had LEFT A STAPLE IN MY DOG’S STOMACH! We brought it up to Dr. Dawkins (who is the POLAR opposite of Dr. Smith) who apologized on behalf of the negligent staff. It’s been 9 months since this happened, and we haven’t heard a word of anything from Dr. Smith. No apology, nothing. If you’re bringing you pet there for routine vaccinations or checkups, then I’m sure you don’t have anything to worry about. However, if your dog is needing anything beyond that, run... RUN FAR AWAY.

I've been taking my dogs to CAC for several years since a terrible experience at another vet. Dr. Smith is very personable, he really listens to concerns and more importantly explains all things clearly which is very reassuring when there is an issue. The office is clean, the office staff is wonderful. I have tended to many issues great and small at this office and even in the most complicated of situations I can honestly say I would never go to any other vet for complete care. I have referred may people and would highly recommend.

I would like to thank Chattahoochee Animal Clinic, and especially Dr. Smith, for his expertise and compassionate care we have received for our dog. Our dog has had an ongoing issue for several months, and the staff has truly shown me how much they care. They have gone above and beyond in treating us with the upmost dignity and respect and I trust them with my dog’s care. We have seen Dr. Smith and Dr. Dawkins and they both are incredible. I highly recommend this team of experts for all of your pet’s needs from immunizations to serious health issues. Chattahoochee Animal Clinic is the BEST!

Dr. Dawkins and Dr. Smith are both excellent vets. We recently started going here by the recommendation of the vet that was fostering the pup we recently adopted. Our first visit unfortunately was in more of an emergent situation with my dachshund that was experiencing IVDD. Dr. Dawkins has been a god send through this. She has thoroughly explained everything, spent countless hours checking in to make sure we were progressing well and gave recommendations for neurologist. I truly couldn’t recommend a better more caring and truly compassionate person to take care of your fur kids. Thank you to the amazing staff as well!
