AVS is a family oriented, yet professional based place of business. They have helped my boxer with his allergies and for that, I am truly grateful! You will not be disappointed!!! Thanks Ladies!!

I am so thankful to find AVS. My cat was diagnosed with pemphigus and needed someone who specialized in this disease. Dr. Schick is amazing! She has extensive experience with cats and pemphigus and has my cats best interest at heart.

I would refer anyone who has any sort of challenging dermatological issue with their dog or cat to see Dr. Schick. I only wish we had found her sooner. Our dog is 17.5 and had a mass that needed to be removed. Due to his age, we didn't want to put him under anesthesia and I was so relieved when Dr. Schick said she could do the surgery without it (something the regular vets we had seen could not do). She was able to use a sedative and lidocaine and the surgery was a success! Dr. Schick is an expert in her field, compassionate, and straight-forward. I loved her from the minute I met her as she has a kind disposition, you can tell she really cares about the animals she treats and their people. Dr. Schick's staff have been wonderful too - kind, helpful, and professional. It's clear that Dr. Schick has a talent for veterinary dermatology and is incredibly knowledgeable. Not only that, but she has the technology to treat cases that general vets do not have, such a laser surgery. I highly recommend Dr. Schick and Atlanta Veterinary Specialists.

I couldn’t be happier with my experience at AVS! My dog needed a dark spot removed from a very sensitive area- the crevice of his eye- as well as a couple from the top of his head. From my first appointment with Dr. Schick and her staff, I was so pleased with their professionalism, thoroughness, and expertise. They also brought me a lot of peace and confidence that they’d be able to remove the markings without scaring. The doctor was very detailed in her outline of what would transpire with the procedure, and even though she was a little concerned that these spots could potentially be melanoma, she still put me at ease. She was just being honest and realistic, which I appreciated. She suggested laser removal for all three areas, and while the estimate was a little more money than I hoped for, it was worth very penny in the end! The pinpoint accuracy to which the potential spots were removed offered such precision and they healed beautifully (see pictures) A couple of weeks later, I received a call that everything from the lab came back benign and I was beyond elated! I highly recommend this amazing Derma Vet Specialist if your pet is in need of anything dermatology related but especially if any growths or markings need removed! Dr. Schick and her team are incredible, and I’m so grateful!

I absolutely love Dr. Shick and her staff! I have never had a more thorough vet visit. Dr. Shick talks about nutrition skin health of the pet and refers appropriately. My dog is alive today because of her! I am so grateful this is such a wonderful practice I am willing to fly to bring my dog back for visits! Thank you Dr. Shick and staff

We have had such a positive experience with Dr Schick. Darcy has improved over the past 8 months from being an itchy mess to a much happier and healthy dog. We will continue all the recommended shampoo and supplements to make sure she stays healthy! Thank you!

Dr. Schick is truly the best at what she does. Our 1.5 year old Boxer, Lola, was covered in bumps head to tail and after a lot of time and money spent on treatment which was not working we were referred to Dr. Schick. She spent time with us educating us about the breed, our dogs issue, how we’re going to resolve the issue and how we are going to stay on track. She did not rush her time with us (or any other patient) she is thorough with her explanations, provides documentation for you to refer back to once you leave and provides you with a detailed treatment plan so you know each step. Our boxer is 2.5 years old now and she has never looked better. We owe it all to Dr. Schick and her AMAZING staff!!!!!!!!

After months of going to my general vet for one antibiotic after the next to try and cure my dogs skin infection, she referred me to Dr. Schick. So happy she did. Within a month after our initial consultation, Sydney has done a complete 180 degree with her skin. I applaud Dr. Schick and her staff for being so available, thorough and patient throughout the entire ordeal. A lot was involved in getting her to this point, but well worth it. I highly recommend her practice and could not be happier with my vet for pointing me in her direction!

Our Boxer Harley sufferers with allergies among other things. Dr. Mary Schick has really cleared him up. He actually has hair on his paws again. She takes her time and explaines everything. I truly recommend you see her for your dog or cats skin care needs. Thank you Dr. Schick!!!

Dr. Schick and her staff are incredible. Our year old Himalayan was on all kinds of antibiotics and steroids until we were referred to Dr. Schick. She was able to wean him off the steroids and treat him for pemphigus successfully. They are so patient and loving with the pets and Dr. Schick explains everything in detail. They really are the best!!

My dog shaggy has been struggling with constant scratching.we tried every kind of food you can think of.variuos allergy pills and anti itch shampoo.from our primary vet.nothing helped.we have started treatment with Jennifer.on new medicine for only 6 days.huge improvement already ...

I which they answer the phone on the same day. I which somebody in the front office to let you know somebody will help you soon. Other than that clean, respectful, nice employees and the dr. really takes her time to explain you everything and show knowledge of what she is doing.

I drive about an hour one way for Dr. Schick and her staff to treat my pup. This is a Dermatology specialist office and they are brilliant and work hard to determine the best course of treatment. The office is peaceful and they are very hospitable which is important because they don't rush the process in working with your animal so you may be there a couple of hours.

My pets have been patients with Dr.Schick since 1991. She has always taken great care of my pets. Just recently I have found a small lesion mass on my schnauzer and had it removed immediately the day I came in for the visit. It came back as a cancerous lesion and I am so pleased that Dr. Schick removed all of the mass with laser surgery. I am glad it was recognized so quickly and Dr. Schick was able to take care of it immediately. I am so happy to have a relationship with Dr. Schick who provides the best care for my pets and ensures them having longer and happier lives. I would highly recommend Dr. Schick for anyone with Dermatology concerns for their pet. My pets are so happy to have her.

We have a german shepard male, he started having problems with itching and rashes on his skin that started around 6 months of age. I tried many otc shampoos and sprays. I began to think he had a food allergy. My veterinarian also felt like he did. They put him on ultamino dog food, even with this food he continued to have infectons. We were so frustrated, he wasn't getting better and we were spending a lot of money and getting no where. Finally in February of this year one of the veternarians we saw suggested we take him to a veternarian dermatologist, we were previously told he would have to wait until he was 2 years old to see a specialist, he was 21 months at this time. He had another skin infection at that visit and was put on antibiotics, his stomach was bright red he looked sad and sick. Once we took him to Atlanta Veterinary Specialist in February, we saw Dr Mary P. Schick, she was phenomenal. I've never seen a doctor so thorough. She ran some blood test and devised a plan for zeus. The inital visit was expensive, but we were finally getting zeus the help he needed, and we were getting answers to the many questions we had. Now zeus is like a new dog, his skin looks great!!! He has gained weight and he is so happy. I wish i could show before and after pictures. I would highly recommend Atlanta Veterinary Specialist, Dr Mary P. Schick is amazing!!!

Dr. Schick and her staff are AMAZING! I have been bringing my dog, Buddy to AVS for over one year and am VERY pleased with the results. I really like that Dr. Schick considers the overall life of the pet when prescribing a treatment plan. She tries to go the natural route when possible and is not quick to use antibiotics during the early years. I recall the thoroughness of Dr. Schick’s very first examination of Buddy. She took extensive time to inspect every crevice of Buddy’s body and conveyed her analysis to me in a way that was easy to understand. The exam was more comprehensive than my Mom’s experience at Sloane Kettering!!! Is it expensive – yes, it is. But, that is what you should expect if you want top care. I highly recommend the Nationwide pet insurance plan, as they cover all of the expenses after I pay 10% of the invoice. It is clear to me that Dr. Schick is extremely passionate about what she does and takes great pride in providing the best care possible. Dr. Schick even took the time to talk to me about my daughter who shares an interest in veterinary as a potential future career – she even let her shadow there for 2 days. I can honestly say my dog is living a happier life thanks to Dr. Schick. Thank you for all that you do!

Wow, I cant even begin with how happy I am soo far with my results of my dog Ava. She’s a Jack Russell/Beagle mix that’s been struggling with bad skin for a good portion of her life. Throughout the years we’ve tried a lot of different things and medications and they worked temporarily then her skin goes back to being bad again. However this year was the worst her skin has ever been. I’m a dog groomer who learned of Dr. Schick through one of our customers who raves over her services. We were also shocked at how well his coat grew back, so we requested a referral from our vet to go see Dr. Schick. She was very informative and already had many ideas on how my baby could get her skin to go back to normal. My dog had really bad swelling in 3 of her paws, causing her to limp and she also had several legions/scaly skin throughout her body. We started in July and it’s now December and she’s looking and feeling like a new dog! She still has a few months to go but as of the moment I am very pleased and looking forward to seeing the final results of this process. Oh I forgot to mention, the staff is wonderful! They’re always a pleasure to have a conversation with which makes the experience even better! All in all, I highly recommend her services to anyone who wants to get their dogs skin back on track.

Dr. Schick employs scare tactics to get patients to commit to expensive testing and unessential treatment. She attempted to discredit the work of our primary vet. by saying they had endangered our pet with their method of treatment. Willing to do anything for our pet, we accepted the treatment. $500+dollars later, we walked away with shampoo, conditioner, antibiotics and a skin scratch test. All things our primary veterinarian was capable of prescribing. I think she acted unprofessionally, attacking our primary vet. and even worse, exploited the fact that we love our pet to compel us to subscribe to her expensive treatment. I would not go to her again for a dermatological treatment. If there are no other specialists in the area, I would travel across state lines. If you are unfortunate enough to be dealing with a potential dermatological issue with your pet, I would advise you exhaust all options with your primary vet and if a specialist is still needed, do not go to Atlanta Veterinary Specialists.

I have been going to AVS since 2011 with my little 3.4 pound teacup, special needs chihuahua and I have had the privilege to be under the care of Dr.Mary Schick and all of her brilliant expertise. Debbie and Ken have been fantastic, as well as all of the staff I have had the pleasure of my little girl be cared for there. I truly feel like a family member when we go to have her check ups and any and every concern I have related to my "daughter's" health:) I am so blessed and grateful to have her be one of their patients and they have gone; and continue to go, above and beyond for her health! I am so so grateful, truly and can't live without AVS and my little 4 legged little girl!! Thank you so much!

Excellent service and friendly staff. We have been fighting skin issues for months then went to see AVS. They have treated Sophie with several baths, shampoos and meds. She has lost some needed weight, no more itching and skin & coat look wonderful. This is the place for your fur babies to get better.
