I cannot thank the staff at the Pet Dentist enough for the amazing work they have done on my puppy. My puppy suffered with an enamel defect and they were able to turn her teeth around completely. They are the best you can get for your pet. I was fully impressed with their professionalism, knowledge, and hard work they put into each animal. I was throughly updated throughout the entire process and the end result was amazing. My puppy can live a normal life now and was able to keep all of her teeth. We drove almost two hours to have our puppy worked on, and I would do it all over again. I truly felt my pet was cared for and well taken care of. Now, my puppy is happy, and doesn’t have to worry about her teeth.

My maltese has lymphoma and is in remission. Because he could no longer have his yearly dentals, the disease in his mouth continued to worsen. Because of his age, extractions by his veterinarian were high risks with the anesthesia. The Pet Dentist specializes in anesthesia that is safer and has a licensed anesthetist during the procedure. My maltese ended up having his remaining teeth extracted and is doing great. His pain was managed using nerve blocks and oral pain meds. He also received an antibiotic during the procedure that lasted for three weeks. If he experienced any problems, they were available 24-7 including weekends.

I could not be more happy with the services I received from Dr. Smithson and his team. I credit him with saving my dog's life. My 14 year old dog developed a systemic life threatening dental infection which could not be cleared up with antibiotics alone. He removed many teeth and she is happy and healthy and Smiling :) again. Thank you Dr. Smithson and your great Team for helping Niki!

Website currently states same day appts are available. This is NOT the case. Very misleading information.

The doctors and staff at the Wesley Chappel location of the Dentist of Tampa Bay are seriously among the best! Once I got my cat to their center they were able to thoroughly assess the problem and got her right into surgery. I could not thank Dr. Smithson and the talented team at the Pet Dentist!

Buy, Buy, Buy From This Guy! I travelled (3) hours each way from Vero Beach to bring my two "Chihuahua dogs" to The Pet Dentist at Tampa Bay's Wesley Chapel Office because they are elderly and needed someone, skilled and gentle, who specialized in dentistry. What I found when I got there was a very overqualified veterninarian, Dr. Christopher Smithson, DVM and his staff, who all took extremely good care of my two Chihuahuas. Worth noting is that this practice handles much of the dental work for the area zoos and animal attractions and they have many photos on their walls of their team cleaning the teeth of lions and tigers and bears and even a really big and scary gorilla. My pets were well cared for, received a cleaning and some extractions, and are now back home and recovering well. If you are looking for a good pet dentist/pet oral surgeon then look no further than The Pet Dentist of Tampa! Bay!.

The staff at The Pet Dentist are warm and caring. My Cookie test results were negative and the Vet was kind and compassionate when delivering the heart breaking news. My other experiences with this group have had better results but the caring was still evident. Thank you for your kindness .

I love this place, they took care of my French Bulldog for a cyst he had inside his mouth. Doctors and especially Tammy she was wonderful!! Okay I've seen other reviews about prices, my Shady had a cysts growing out from inside his mouth and it was just getting out of control, we were refer here by our pets Vet, yes the price are high but I believe is worth every penny for the babies!!

Top notch! I have a difficult pooch to say the least. He doesn't warm up to people quickly, but he had no problems with Dr. Smithson holding him or looking into his mouth. This is huge! Aside from being kind, patient and compassionate, this crew is thorough. I received a packet which included before and after pictures. Dr. Smithson also took the time to answer any and all questions prior to my guy's procedure and after, with an after hour option. If your pet has anything (mouth ulcer, tumor, bad teeth in general... you name it) that may require a pet dentist, this is the place to go. Here's to happy, healthy pets!

Dr. Smithson and his staff were super nice and very professional. Took the time to explain what we were seeing in my pups mouth and what our next steps would be. They were great with my small dog.

We just got home from our dog’s tooth extraction and I cannot say enough good things about this location, the staff, the doctor, everything. Our dog was diagnosed with a bleeding disorder that makes clotting hard, so every cut can be a problem and she’s considered high risk for surgery (Type III Von Willebrand’s Disease in case anyone else reading this is in the same boat.) The doctors did their absolute best to minimize cuts and bleeding and they did a wonderful job. No issues at all and we’re home now and she’s tired but happy and acting like her usual self. Every part of the process was easy. The staff coordinated with our regular vet in advance, records were easily exchanged, our instructions were all clear, check in was a breeze, every single staff member I interacted with was kind and knowledgeable and amazing, and the doctors did a wonderful job with the procedure itself. If you do your research, the only “negatives” on them is price, but their prices are comparable to national averages and are not a rip off or inflated at all, and they do their best to give you what you need and not run costs up. Our final invoice ended up $60-80 cheaper than the quote. No milking things at all. Expert care isn’t supposed to be a cheap thing, and I was very comfortable and happy with what we paid. Cannot recommend them enough. I hope we never need to take a pet in for a dental procedure again but if we do, I’m coming right back here.

Dr. Peak and Dr. Smithson are skilled professionals that I have referred my pet patients to for over a decade. The doctors and staff treat each pet as if they were their own, and are sincerely involved with the care they provide. I am thankful for their input regarding patients that I call about. I also consistently hear great feedback from pet parents that I refer. Highly recommended !!!

My dog needs dental work done or it’s going to impact his health. I would normally go to SPCA Florida but due to COVID-19 and some down equipment, they are unable to do dental work at this time. I was referred to the The Pet Dentist. I called this morning and explained that I was referred by the SPCA. I was asked for a rough estimate of their prices so I knew what I would be getting myself into. I was asked my dog’s weight (4.2 lbs). I was told that the consult, xrays, and anesthesia alone would be $815. I was in shock and I repeated back what I was told over the phone just to make sure I heard right. “So just to tell me what’s wrong with my dog- before anything is done to help- it will be $815?” I was told that I heard right. That’s $815 before they do anything to help the pet, before extractions, before surgical procedures, before cleanings, before antibiotics, before pain killers... That’s more than my monthly mortgage payment. Now I live in a little house in Polk County and home prices are different in different places but this is really upsetting. I love my sweet little morkie so much and if I had the money, I would pay it. But I don’t know anyone who has $815 in their back pocket. Comparatively, when my dog was still a puppy he had an incisor and 4 canine teeth extracted at the SPCA.That cost $50. The anesthesia and associated surgical costs was $100.

Very caring staff. The doctor took time to explain the procedure our cat needed and how to keep her healthy with her issue. Would highly recommend the Chapel Hill office.

The staff was so comforting and caring. They explained everything thoroughly and grabbed tissues as soon as they saw that I needed them. Even though my original appointment was in Clearwater, they worked me in. They made the situation as good as possible. I would like to say, after reading other reviews, that the dr could have made a lot more money out of my cat's situation, but he was very honest, and gave me sound advice. He is worth twice what I paid.

There pricing is very EXPENSIVE. Almost $900 for the dr visit and the anesthesia alone. Nothing else included in that price. My poor cat has stomatitis. All her teeth need removed to the tune of almost $3000. Shop Around!

Because of their expertise, experience, and professionalism, this is the ONLY veterinary practice I would take my dogs, especially our elderly Mastiff mix.
