Dr. Hempstead and staff are wonderful! You can really tell they love the animals in their care. If you are looking for an eye specialist for your furbaby I highly recommend Animal Eye Specialists in Stuart, FL.

The staff here is the friendliest and most professional staff i have experienced in animal care. My truck wouldn't start after my appointment and one of the very nice ladies (Christine, i think) called her husban to come give me a jump. Some faith in humanity restored!

My dog lost his vision 4 years ago and did the eye surgery, he has been seeing perfectly since then. He has had some bumps in the road , and the doctors ability to immediately have a plan, is remarkable. Staff is friendly and always willing to help!

After battling what appeared to be a FHV case with my cat at our local vet and his condition worsening, primarily the eye symptoms, I was referred here. The front desk staff/technicians were truly compassionate over the phone and helped as much as possible to get in as soon as possible. Dr. Hempstead was wonderful in answering my questions even before the appointment. Dr. Hempstead determined it definitely did not look like FHV OR a eye problem and referred us to get a CT Scan, which following that we have learned my poor cat has cancer. As sad as the news is, I am very thankful for the staff here pointing us in the right direction so we can make the best decisions for my cats care in the future.

My dog has been going to the Animal Eye clinic in Stuart for almost 2 years and they are always friendly, professional and efficient. I've never had to wait more than 15 minutes for my appt and usually they are ushering us in as we walk in the door. My dog met Dr. Hempstead yesterday and she was very kind and knowledgeable. Vet Tech Nicole is extremely skilled and quick with the standard eye tests which reduces the stress for my fearful dog. They are great!

It has taken me a while to write this review because of the circumstances that I came to meet Dr. Rita Wehrman and the wonderful people at Animal Eye Clinic in Stuart, FL. On Tuesday, September 17, 2019 my 12 year old little Chorkie, Zena unexpectedly and suddenly went blind and was unable to walk very well. We rushed her to the emergency animal hospital that night and was sent home with medication after blood work revealed low RBC, low platelets and extremely high WBC. The next morning I brought Zena to her vet and they wanted to do more tests. Once we left, I wanted to have my baby girl checked out by an animal ophthalmologist and the only one who was willing to see her on such short notice was Animal Eye Clinic in Stuart. Now I live in Brevard County, and explained when I called that I was about 90 minutes away. I was told that the vet would wait for me to arrive so she could see Zena. Needless to say, that was one of the worst rides I have ever had. When I arrived, we were immediately met by the office/vet techs and from the moment I walked in, I felt like they have known me forever. Dr. Wehrman saw Zena and then wanted to do further tests. Unfortunately, there was only so much she could do because the hospital gave her medication for her eyes that constricted her pupils. Not knowing how long the exam would take, I left Zena in their care and went to get something to drink, then when I returned, Zena was being loved on. Dr. Wehrman mentioned that there was an animal neurologist, Dr. Julie Blackmore located next door and prior to my return, she had asked Dr. Blackmore if she would be willing to see Zena. She was and we stayed. Prior to me leaving to return to Brevard County, all the women in the Eye Clinic were so worried for Zena. There was concern that Zena was too dehydrated to make the trip back to Brevard, so the vet techs made sure she was hydrated enough. Unfortunately, Zena passed away 4 days later and I notified the Eye Clinic by mailing them a thank you card with Zena’s picture. Several days after I mailed the card, I received a phone call from Dr. Wehrman. She was concerned for MY wellbeing and wanted to make sure I was ok. I wasn’t and it will be a while before I am, but she talked to me for about 20 minutes. I know my little girl had the best care possible at the Eye Clinic. I feel like they have been in my life for many years, instead of the short 1 – 2 hours I was in their office. Based on their treatment of my baby girl Zena, and how they have treated me during my almost emotional breakdown in their office, to 3 weeks after, The Eye Clinic of Stuart and all their staff members are in this line of work for the right reasons. They love animals and their owners. I would never hesitate to drive that long drive again just to have any of my animals seen by the best people in their line of work. Thank you all and you will all have a special place in my heart.

They were very neglectful! Didn't tell the truth, they were misleading and as the result caused the death of my beloved cat! As for the vet who was responsible, she never called to explain herself or apologize, not even say she was sorry! She walked out on my poor baby and left the doctor coming in to re-leave her for the day deal with the situation! He was uninformed! He found my baby unresponsive and left to be alone to die! I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy!
