Del Mar Veterinary Hospital St. Augustine, Florida

I had brought Tucker here for the first time, great experience, this vet office will be his official veterinary office here in St. Augustine. I love the fear free approach. I was worried when we moved that I would not find a great vet office like the one that we had in Ocala, but I'm happy to say this one is exactly what i was hoping for, I highly recommend. :)

Love this vet!! We took Libbi for her ears and they was amazing! They let us go in with her and she was so calm. Thank you all so much for being so great with our fur babi ❤❤

My kitten was injured on Christmas Eve, and my regular vet's reception staff didn't answer my calls even though they were open, so I called Del Mar. From that first interaction, through the intake, and during the visit, every single aspect of my experience with Del Mar was exceptional. The reception staff were friendly, compassionate, and attentive, and it was clear that great care had been taken to ensure a calming and secure environment for frightened pets and anxious owners. Dr. Nieves was extremely kind, gentle, knowledgeable, and patient, and took the time to really examine my kitten and later go over her x-rays with me. Nothing felt rushed, even though we had come in on short notice at the end of the day right before a holiday. I was satisfied with the care my cats had received at appointments with their regular vet, but Del Mar exceeded my expectations in every way. I've requested all my cats' records be transferred, and will be taking them here from now on. Thank you Dr. Nieves and the Del Mar staff for your quality of treatment, and for the effort you've put in to creating a clean, relaxing, efficient, compassionate environment for pets and their people. You care, and it shows.

Oh, where to begin? My dog loves Dr. Nieves. He runs to him. But he loves a lot of people so I'll add that Dr. Nieves loves dogs. I figured that out when he gave my poor sick baby a kiss on the nose. The price? Shockingly low for the quality of care and accessible location. Wait time? Almost nonxistent. Responsive? You betcha. Emails, phone calls, I've even been told to text in an emergency, all returned swiftly. Quality of care...wow. This guy really knows his stuff, and what he's unsure of he dives in headfirst to figure out. The rest of his staff, including Mrs. Nieves, are all amazing, kind, accomodating. I can't say enough good stuff about this practice. If you're looking for a new vet or just an emergency room, this is the one.

I was on vacation in Saint Augustine when my Giant Schnauzer puppy started hacking the day we were to leave to come back to Boston. The office was only open by appointment on Saturday. I read all the reviews for local vets. De Mar Vet. Hospital had the most outstanding review i had ever read. So I rolled the dice.. The office was responsive to what was going on for my pup and got me in under an hour. The husband and wife team are truly the most gracious, interactive, and kindest PEOPLE I have ever encountered within a veterinary practice. I’m understating, they are just really nice in all ways imaginable. I was so happy with the care Ajax got that I asked them to move their practice to Boston.. With that being said, if you need emergency care and your from out of town , see them. If your looking for new vet , go to them. If you need some new friends, hang out with them. ( JK about friend part) I’m not a 5 star guy, everything can be improved upon. However these folks have earned their ratings and then some.

Needed a vet while on vacation and the staff and doctors were amazing! They worked us in an appointment quickly to get our girl seen. They provided great care and followed up the next day to check on her. Made us feel like we had been long time patients. Thank you for being wonderful and helping out girl feel better.

Best vet in town !

My family and I are in St. Augustine for vacation. Our dog Luke is a senior. He’s going to be 15 now in November and has a heart murmur so we take his health very seriously. He’s not used to being outside he doesn’t like to be out in the heat he prefers being inside where there is AC but during this trip we took him to various places like the beach and fountain of youth. On our way back to the hotel we noticed a black spot on his back. We thought it was a tick. We actually have a Banfield wellness plan so we tried to take Luke to Banfield but they wouldn’t take us as a walk in and said there was no appointments. The person at Banfield was very rude. All we wanted was someone to look at the spot and see if it was a tick. It would have taken a few minutes. The staff at Del Mar was so accommodating. We walked in and right away they disclosed the price for the vet visit so there was no surprises. They were so sweet and kind to us and Luke. The doctor was very nice and professional. We were in and out within an hour. You can tell the doctor and staff truly love animals. If we lived in this area we would definitely make this our home vet. Thank you to this veterinary hospital for taking the time to check out my dog without an appointment. Now we have peace of mind that our boy does not have ticks and we can continue to enjoy our vacation.

My puppy Lucy and I visited Del Mar Veterinary for her 16 week vaccinations. Everyone was so kind and helpful . Dr. Nieves was so attentive to Lucy. I could tell he really cares about our pets.

Why didn't I know about you years ago!? My little girl Ruby, a Jack Russell/Chihuahua, had a traumatic experience with lasting effects! Taking her to a Vet was heart wrenching. My husband found an article in a local magazine entitled, "Take the Pet out of Petrified." I decided to give it one try. I was so shocked and surprised after only about 10 minutes she was doing all her tricks for treats! I would have never believed it possible. I can't thank you enough for your care from the receptionist, the vet assistant and Dr Nieves! Thank you for listening to our concerns and making us both feel so at ease! I am just so impressed and SO happy that we finally found you.

There are a few things I am not happy with about Del Mar Veterinary Hospital but the most notable one is that after I had to but my dog to sleep I didn't even receive an email from them expressing their condolences. I realize that Cooper was only a patient of theirs for a couple of years but they treated him right up to his death on February 15th, 2021. He was last treated there for congestive heart failure and only a few days later had to be put to sleep because the treatment and medications were not working ($600+ later). I even called them to let them know the day of and asked if the doctor could come to my home to do it and they said NO due to Covid and they gave me the name of a service that does it and I scheduled with them (Lap of Love - Highly Recommend). I EVEN had his ashes delivered to Del Mar when they were ready for me to pick up - STILL not card, email, no acknowledgment from them at all of his death - their patient. When it's time and I get another dog, I can guarantee that Del Mar will NOT be our vet.

We LOVE this place. We LOVE Dr.Nieves he is absolutely the best Vet. Come and see why yourself.. your pet will love you for it. Thank you as always Dr. Nieves how you treat our pet.

My puppy had an eye infection on thanksgiving morning. Everyone at the veterinary hospital was beyond kind! They made my puppy comfortable and even gave her a cute toy as a reward. I’m not local to the area, but I wish I had a clinic like Del Mar near to me. Lola is doing much better now, thank you both so much!

We were blessed to have this little beauty beginning in August, 2009. She is a Mini Schnauzer we rescued (who actually rescued us!). Bella passed on February 26, 2020 after a several-months-long illness. Dr Nieves, Melissa, Nicole and the team at Del Mar were always attentive, professional and caring as Bella struggled through her last few months. We knew when it was time, and Dr. Nieves agreed - and no one was more upset than he was! Thank you to everyone for showing your unending dedication to every pet and every pet owner. We are new in town and my dog had split open his nail and was in pain. The vet explained everything to us, the staff was super friendly towards our pup and we recommend this veterinary to all.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Del Mar. We were visiting from out of town and they were so nice and accommodating to our dog. After calling another local vet and dealing with a very unpleasant receptionist who explained they wouldn't have time for my dog for a few weeks, I called Del Mar and told her what was happening with my dog and she squeezed us in. My dog already has anxiety issues but they were so patient with him and being a "fear free" clinic was a first for me but I loved it. I wish they could be our permanent vet and not just when on vacation.

Very kind and friendly staff. Dr Nieves is also very kind to my animals and knowledgeable about my dog's condition.

The vet receptionist gave me a date that doesn’t exist then doesn’t schedule the appointment. They want me to pay for the medicine to replace what I gave her because they gave me the wrong date. Everyone there sucks do not go !!
