They don't actually help strays. I've called a few times, They say call Animal control and Animal Control says call Friends of STRAYS,,, they never help and nobody calls you back its all email and voicemail... convenient. Some of us are in the neighborhood helping, like 2 kittens whose mother got hit. I called they won't help the kittens. This is 100% true. But they will sure take donations.

Well cared for pets in waiting. Ask the staff about your future pet. They know their cats and dogs and can help you make a really good choice.

Very impressive facilities, very clean, seems like a pleasant place for animals to await their forever home. The women who worked there knew their stuff. It's the oldest no-kill shelter in Pinellas county.

Very caring and thoughtful people working there. They need donations for food, rent, electricity, upkeep/repairs etc. If you use their services Please try and leave something for rhe inmates. I know it will be used for good and they NEED it!

These people are amazing thank you for looking out for all the animals that you guys take in and take care of I know you had my dog at one point when someone stole her from me that they realize that she had a chip and they dropped her off at friends of stray on Thanksgiving morning 2 years ago

Oh, this little place has a great big heart and takes very good care of the sweet pets waiting for a home. I wish they were better known! I spent an hour petting cats because my living situation doesn't allow me to have one. I think they need to advertise better. The staff is super!

I adopted Jesse my puppy from Friends of Strays two weeks ago today. It was an awesome experience as the volunteers and staff work so hard to keep the shelter clean and the amount of love and care that they give the animals is awesome. I am so grateful the Friends of Strays because I walked in there feeling heartbroken and disheartened because of the loss of my other dog and I walked out of there with Jesse and was so happy. Thank you.

Never been here, but I was referred to supporting you guys through Amazon smile. I chose you as my charity because I felt that you guys do a much better job than the big name alphabet organization that plays sad music on tv with suffering animals. I couldn't believe the CEO drives a super expensive car. What about the animals? Hopefully I will get to meet friends of strays someday. Take care!

Was looking for a local shelter in the north St Pete area and came upon Friends of Strays via a Google search and couldn't be happier that I found them. I spoke with Kelly over the phone who was super friendly and helpful, and even though they were only a half hour out from closing that evening she encouraged me come down and see the pooch I had found via their website. Long story short after a visit, I was able to fill out the paperwork and adopt. Everyone working there was more than friendly and helpful so go adopt/volunteer at Friends of Strays these folks are doing amazing work!

Awesome place. They will spay/neuter your cat/dog absolutely free of charge. They do require a fully refundable deposit on the traps they return the pets in. $75 per trap. But you get the $ back when you return the trap. They accept donations which I think they deserve. This place is doing a great service to the community.

Wonderful shelter! I only went into the cat area but it was kept clean and didn't have any outstanding odors which to me indicates the litter boxes are being cleaned regularly. Cats are obviously taken care of very well and they have a wonderful environment full of enrichment so the cats aren't just sitting in a tiny cage all day every day. I adopted a sweet cat who has a clean bill of health from our vet. Adoption process was very easy and all of my questions were answered.

FANATICAL HAIRCUTS

I found 3 little kittens within the narrow parts of framework of the walls of my outdoor kitchen. Concerned that they could potentially become trapped there due to growth.. I lure all three kittens out and supply them food and water to transport them to this facility. Apparently they don't take in "ALL" strays. We were told to take them back with us and drop them off at "Pinellas county" on Monday, that "they were too little". My wife and I were heading out of town, there was no way I was traveling with three stray kittens that were not our pets. We simply wanted to allow these kittens a good home potentially instead of running the risk of dying from heat exhaustion or eaten by coyotes that have been seen in the neighborhood. The two workers there were extremely unprofessional and one was just outright rude and disrespectful, slamming the door in front of multiple people who are simply there out of kindness and compassion for animals. Don't call yourselves "Friends of Strays" if you exude this type of behavior when citizens of a community take time out of their day to bring in animals to gain the help they need and you say your business gives to them. The only reason those three kittens stayed in the building was because I refused to take them with me after bringing them here, nor was I at liberty to take them back to my backyard and leave them at risk to the elements or as prey for a larger animal. That would be unethical an inhumane, yet this was the advice we were given before I walked out leaving them and having the worker slam the door behind us. Great Understanding you guys have for animals. PATHETIC to say the least.
