When the owner is away (which is a lot) the staff here becomes extremely arrogant and rude. Do yourself a favor and find another veterinarian. This one is not worth the hassle you will endure if you become a regular customer. Quite simply the staff is rude and unprofessional. If you love you pet, don't take him/her here.

Someone gives appointments and someone else in the office says that we do not know who confirms or canceled your appointment. Very unprofessional for the cost.

I am so grateful to find Oakland Park Animal Hospital. My dog had an emergency wherein he hit his eye very badly on Christmas Eve. Dr. Ratnoff's staff was kind and even stayed longer than they should have to help take care of my boy. Dr. Ratnoff was kind and took his time in assessing my boy, was patient answering all of my questions and I am grateful I found them. Thank you Oakland Park Animal Hospital Staff! Brewzzi Thanks you too! These pics are 12 hours after one another.

When I first called to make a first time appointment Kelly was super nice, super helpful and it made me feel at ease. However upon arriving there the afternoon staff were something else. Started basically with what’s wrong with him…I had sent his medical records(bringing him here was for a second opinion and possible ultrasound) I explained everything.. The lady at the front desk asks “well how old is he” I said he’s 10 she replied “well your lucky pitbulls usually don’t live past 7” I said look at him there’s something wrong and was met with maybe it’s age. That’s when I thanked them for their disservice and said I’ll find another vet. Anyway, my point is the attitude is wrong, you guys didn’t even take him in for evaluation before being condescending. Yes old age affects us all, but my dog was not like this a couple of days ago he’s an active, running playing at the beach kind of dog.

Dr. Spencer Ratnoff is absolutely amazing! He’s THE BEST veterinarian I have ever seen. I brought in “Wilson” the tiny finch and he very quickly assessed his condition, took a culture and showed me how to handle him to apply medication to his foot. ONE WEEK LATER it was so much better! Honestly I would never go anywhere but Oakland Park Animal Hospital. I’m so glad to have found such a caring doctor and staff. It really means a lot and you can see how much they love all the animals. Thank you so much- Love, Jennifer Wilson and Nibbles

Depending on who is at the desk will determine your experience. I’ve visited before and the receptionist was very friendly and helpful. **$120 emergency vet fee BTW** Tonight (11/16/21) I came in during what is considered emergency hours, with an actual emergency. I arrived with another person but walked in the door first; the doctor on staff looked me dead in the eyes and never said a word, but acknowledged the customer behind me as the person clearly was client picking up their pet. That is not a problem, I tried not to be rude and interrupt, and waited to be spoken to. I waited for approximately 5 minutes, never acknowledged, never briefly asked if I was having an emergency, picking up, nothing. It was exceptionally rude and left my blood boiling. After clearly being ignored, I left and called around for other emergency vets in the area. I was willing to pay their high emergency fee because they are closer to my home and I wanted to get my dog help ASAP, but I ended up driving further away to the Pet Emergency Center on Cypress Creek Rd. The receptionist had leagues better customer service and explained their protocols, wait time to be seen, and their emergency visit fee which is much lower than OPAH. I will never come to this hospital and spend money again, but I’m sure the vet on staff could care less as his practice is making a killing overcharging customers simply trying to care for their animals.

Every single person in this hospital has been very sweet and caring. I brought in my guinea pig for a huge abscess and he's doing so much better already. Dr Ratnoff and his team were so patient, knowledgeable, and they taught us everything to be able to make sure he gets better at home. Even though this place is pretty far from where I live, the drive is well worth it. If you have a sick pet I highly recommend you take them here. Thank you to the Dr and entire staff for helping and being so compassionate!

As soon as I walked in the clinic there was a strong odor of urine, not only did they charge $79 for just the office visit but the total cost of the plan for my guniea pig was $435!!!!! I've had guniea pigs before and have took them to an exotic veterinary and they have never quoted me for that much. I just moved in the area if I would have looked at yelps reviews before going to this vet I would have never gone in google the reviews show a 4 star but in yelp its a 2 star and I completely understand why.

I recommend you do not go here! I made an appointment for my daughter's bunny. The day before the appointment I got a message asking me to call back and confirm my "1pm appointment time". I called back that afternoon and confirmed we'd be there the next day at 1pm. On the way to the appointment the next day I called to confirm the address and they said my "12:30 appointment" was canceled. I told her my appointment was for 1pm and that I never canceled but on the contrary I had called back last evening to confirm the 1pm time. The woman on the phone had the nerve to argue with me on the phone. I have a message from them on my phone saying 1pm. I told her I was coming anyway. When I got there they treated me and my 9 year old daughter terribly and basically could care less that they made a scheduling mistake. They told us the same thing I've read in other reviews... "That they had several emergency surgeries that morning and are backed up." The said we could be seen but they didn't know when. I told them we couldn't wait all afternoon because it was my daughter's birthday party soon at the Animal Adoption Center. They didn't seem to care and so we left. I understand people make mistakes, especially scheduling mistakes, but it's the way you handle it that shows your compassion, caring, and professionalism in what you do. I saw none of that and therefore I do not recommend this business.

Coming here was probably the best decision we’ve made. The entire team here is incredible and caring. The dog even loves when we come. #winning. If you are looking for a vet the Oakland Park Animal Hospital is the place to go!

Don’t go here! I went there to get my pet that was sick and I needed some answers, went in everything seemed fine, the girl in the front was nice, but when they called us to go in, the doctor ratnoff spencer, told us our pet was really sick and needed different types of procedures that would cost us around 900$ It seemed like too much so I asked if there was any other options and he proceed to say that the other option was to “end the pain” I didn’t agreed with that so we took back our pet home with some medicine for him, we kept giving our pet the medication for like 2-3 days and now he’s back to normal! I would recommend searching up for a different doctor who would treat you better when giving a diagnosis and who would actually look for a better solution rather than “end the pain” and giving him some good money on his pockets.

Very small family oriented animal hospital with reasonable pricing and amazing customer service. I would highly recommend this practice as the Dr. and staff really have your pet's best interest in mind and explain everything in detail ???? there are no surprises or gimmicks here! I feel better knowing the Dr. Is on call 24/7 !

We first went here when our Pit became ill and eventually had to put our dog to sleep. It was a tough time, with ups and downs, but during it all we were very impressed with the empathy and professionalism of all of the staff. As a matter of fact, when we returned to pick up Reuben's ashes, the doctor informed us of a litter of puppies that had been left at the hospital and would be available for adoption soon. That was 5 years ago, when we adopted Daisy & Duke, and it's the best decision we ever made. Thank you!

the vet seems like he knows what he’s doing but there are a few things that made me not want to go back. I came in for my cat’s eye- i wasn’t sure if he had an infection or if my other cat had simply scratched him by accident while they were playing. Anyway I came out with over $300 in bills for additional things I did not need but I was so worried about my kitten at the time that I signed without reading over everything which yes on my part was my problem but the fact that they would try to sneak in additional tests and overcharge me for things is just a reason not to trust them or go back. Aside for that the place is antiquated and does not have a good vibe. Everything in the office and rooms is old and things are falling apart. Also the vet was wearing a mask that looked like it had been worn way too many times over. Just not very sanitary. Otherwise the staff was friendly but I’m def done being ripped off and I’ll be going elsewhere.

As soon as you walk through the door of Oakland Park Animal Hospital you will encounter a strongly foul odor. Not sure why but I suspect the facility is not properly cleaned. It seems that nothing has been updated since 1975. I brought my dog in for an eye ailment. After two visits and well over $500. spent on useless medications and injections I discovered, after bringing my dog to an eye specialist that Dr Ratnoff totally miss diagnosed the ailment. I am happy to say that after wasting all that time and money, my dog is now getting the proper medication and treatment.

You guys are AWESOME! I am thankful that you made recommendations for my pet's health at home. I appreciate that you are not focused on making money and instead focused on my pet's health. I really liked that a future appointment was made but was told that if my pet's issues resolved call and cancel the appointment.

Dr. Ratnoff and his team helped my cat almost immediately and I am so grateful I found them. My female calico cat, Cloey, suffers from severe skin allergies. The team at this vet helped Cloey feel better within 24 hours and I really liked the treatment plan they came up with for her and after bringing her home, she was already looking and feeling better within hours! I am now working with the vet to explore how we can better control my pets allergies and I trust that he will help us do that. I also will point out that this is not a vet who is going to scam you - they won't treat your pet at 50% so you are forced to come back for more medicine and more money. They also handled my cat so well and tried their best to make her comfortable while there. Overall, this is a team who cares about animals and who will help you!

Dr. Ratnoff is one of the best veterinarians I have EVER had the opportunity to utilize. He is absolutely amazing! I grew up raising animals in the Midwest, and had many veterinarians over the years, but the way this man and his staff greet both owners & pets is like visiting with family. From the exam rooms, to the intake & check out areas all are clean, bright and welcoming. It never smells like “animals live here” I highly recommend Dr. Ratnoff & his staff at Oakland Park Animal Hospital to anyone whether it is a new puppy/kitten, a junior, or elderly animal you will be glad you did.
