We’ve been Banfield customers for years. Currently have a dog and a cat on the OWP. Got a new kitten and hoped to add her, but they aren’t taking new clients. Understandable at this time- doctors are apparently scarce, however, something needs to be done in that regard. It’s impossible to get a wellness visit for existing patients and you can’t even get a call back from a vet for what I feel are simple concerns to discuss. Ending up at Central Animal Hospital was not ideal being that we pay monthly for OWPs, but it is what it is. The staff at Banfield North Haven are always kind and patient and when you can get in, it’s a good experience, hence the three stars. But something has to change soon with the amount of doctors and availability of appointments. I’ve never considered leaving Banfield until recently, because of this. Hope things get better soon.

This location is not currently accepting new clients as they only have one doctor operating. I called today to make an appointment for vaccinations. The woman I spoke with was kind and informative. Despite not being able to take me on as a new client, she took the time to break down all of the vaccinations and the best plan going forward for my new puppy. I am going to visit another Banfield location for vaccination but hope to transfer to this location in the future. Thank you so much for your help today!

This is one of the worst business Ive ever dealt with. They are not open at the hours stated and its extremely difficult to get a call back. The vets employed change regularly and give contradictory advice. Stay away from the monthly payments, if you cancel early you will we a significant amount as the charges drastically increase in cost.

last time i had appt at 730 am on a saturday,, no one was there,, another person also waiting and we were like if you tell us 730 drop off,, then be there,, dont show up at 8;15,,, our time is important too. fast forward 3 months no one answers the phone for me to ask about flea medicine ,, I have never had a vets office not answer the phone. , my plan is up in October,, i am finding it very difficult to stay with them,, other vet may be more expensive but at least you can get appt,, and whats the point of a plan if they are too busy to take for an emergency,, im missing something here.

This is by far the worst office of all the Banfield Pet Hospitals. I can never get through and was running in to a problem with a medication. Trying to schedule a teeth cleaning appointment took forever and no call for confirmation or answer when trying to reach them about confirming the appointment. They gave my dog Benadryl without asking me and then tried to charge me. Try another office even if you have to drive a little further. Waste of wellness plan money.

We have the Wellness plan for the fur babies. Saves me quite a bit of money and allows me to go to the vet on a regular basis to keep them good and healthy!

I wish i could give banfield and their doctors less than one star, they use scare tactics to manipulate a pets owner into agreeing to a conglomerate of unnecessary testing costing the owner thousands of dollars. Their doctors bedside manner is unacceptable, their only concern is to get pet owners to spend as much money a possibie. Banfield should be banned from practice.

This place is always under staffed. I never get a call back, unless it's about money, and have had to wait on the phone for over an hour before someone would get to me. The front end staff is either very helpful and nice or extremely rude and have no clue what is going on. They're prices are affordable, but I don't know if it's worth the aggravation of never being able to get into contact with them. I pay for a wellness plan and when I've had issued and need to bring my pup in they can never accommodate me and they send me to an animal hospital. If it was an emergency, of course that makes sense. But when my dog just needs to be seen within the next week for a ear infections or a bump I noticed, that a bit ridiculous. Am I going to be reimbursed for the office visit fee that I'm going to have to pay at the animal hospital, when it should be included in my wellness plan? Of course not. At this point there is no reason to continue to pay for that plan. If you can, I would suggest trying a different location. I haven't had nearly as many issues with other nearby locations. This company needs to pay the staff competitive & livable wages so they stay or just shut down this branch.

Do not waste your money. Banfield will bleed you for your money but god forbid you need an appt, you might get one 3 months away. I was literally told that the "DR" on board today only takes "healthy" appts! This place is trash! Cancelling my insurance through Banfield the minute I can!

I made an appointment online and the nearest date was 1 and a half months from the date I made it. I recieved a phone call 2 days before the appointment letting me know that my appointment was cancelled because the online system overbooked.

I don't trust them. They take away your pet and they take it away and you don't know if they really check it and give it the vaccines that they say to give them and those who work there are unfriendly

If you can reach the staff, you are in luck. Even during business hours the answering machine often picks up sometimes stating the office is closed. ( you have my dog for a surgery and I am supposed to pick him up so no you are not closed). Testing— forget it. My dog has had 2 dna testing samples sent out months ago ... both lost. I dropped off a Stool sample yesterday... can you guess LOST!!! The staff member on the phone chuckled as I questioned who is running this office. I can’t wait for the year to end. DO NOT COME HERE

DO NOT COME HERE. I had recently moved to CT with my puppies and I made my account online prior to making an appointment for my new puppies. They then called 2 days before my appointment to tell me that they are not taking new clients until the next month. They then told me I did not have an account with them and made ANOTHER account over the phone BUT had all of my information wrong, I did spell out my name and my email address and phone number. AND STILL had wrong information. I called again to let them know my information was wrong and they said I can change it online. For my puppies appointments, my fiancé and I had arrived 10 minutes early so I decided to call 5 minutes before our appointment to let them know we were outside. The call was an animated voice and would say that they were closed. Called multiple times and still no answer. They then called me to tell me “it was probably your phone service.” When booking for both my puppies appointments I had a free first visit vouchers that I printed & kept in a folder for them to see when they first open the folder, had also told them that there was vouchers in there for a FREE visit and still PROCEEDED to charge me $$$ for both visits. When I asked about the vouchers they could not give me the free visit because the voucher had expired. When I PAID for the visit I got the folder back and checked the voucher and it was NOT expired. I had a few days for the free vouchers!!!! I called back and they said since I already checked out I can no longer use my free vouchers. When it came to using the app or the website to log into my account that I now made TWICE. BOTHHH APP AND WEBSITE said that MY email is NOT in their system. YET I STILL GET EMAILS FROM BANFIELD ABOUT MY PUPPIES AND HOW TO BOOK FOR MY NEXT APPOINTMENT. I do not usually leave reviews but if you’re thinking about coming here for your pets, please don’t. This has been by far the worst experience.

After three years been customer I’m done imposible to get appointment you need to wait for one month at least. Cancelled for doctor sick but if you are late or need to reschedule need to wait another month. Unless you want to leave your dog in a cage with them you leave them at 8 pick up afternoon whenever they decide to call. Your pet will never be see by the same vet.

I have tried to book with them multiple times over the last 6 months. Always the day before my dogs appointments they call me to tell me they were overbooked and cancel my dogs appointments.

Great veterinary care. My dog loves the people here, he even gets excited whenever I take him in.

We have a new puppy who was being seen by this Banfield. Since day 1, the staff have been nothing but problems and issues. The first issue we had is them refusing prior vet records and subjecting our puppy to a duplicate vaccination. Second, they spontaneously cancelled a vet appointment for the next series of vaccines for the puppy without calling us to warn us, making me waste time off. The third and last straw was the unprofessional staff not only keeping our dog hostage because they screwed up the appointment visit despite it being set by a different Banfield. They repeatedly hung up on us, and the staff was beyond rude and not willing to discuss. These people are the reason Banfield has a horrific reputation. Take your pets elsewhere, they are not worth your time, money, or effort.

I used banfield in another state and had a great experience for years. I moved to CT and wish I hadn’t signed up again. Prices are very affordable but it’s impossible to get appointments. Not worth the savings

I usually go to a different vet, but had to move due to covid, my vet forwarded them my prescription so could buy food for my cat. After several months of buying my food here they're now saying they can't sell to me because I am not a client. They're records show I only ever bought food there once, but I've been living here and buying food from them for several months.

Back in July 2017, my 15-year-old dog Callie was diagnosed with liver cancer. Dr. Minott carefully explained that at her age, it would be tough for her to handle surgery and it might not even work. I chose not to put my dog through it and he explained how I could care for her from there. In September, when I thought about putting her down, Dr. Minott told me it wasn't time and I waited until last Saturday to end her suffering. All the while, Dr. Minott was tremendous in helping me through this emotionally difficult ordeal and was compassionate, all the while having Callie's best interests at heart. He knows I will get another dog in a couple months and I will certainly be bringing my new furry friend to see him and only him. Oct. 2018: Got another dog in April and Dr. Minott has been great with Tucker as well. Make sure you ask for him when you make an appointment. My review was 5 stars until February 2021: Dr. Minott is no longer there. Brought my dog for a regular exam. Was told he had a heart murmur. No grade or anything. That he needed to have an echocardiagram which runs $800-1000. Meanwhile, I'm all worried about my 5 year old dog. I decided to get a second opinion 4 days later and was told he absolutely does not have a heart murmur. Called Banfield to see if there is any blood work left on his plan which there isn't. Was told I needed to get his heartworm medicine before plan ends. Did that today and told the girl at the door I wanted to cancel my plan. She asked why and I told her I don't trust them anymore and why. Also seems like Banfield is a revolving door of vets these days. No continuity like there used to be. Vet called me 1/2 hour later to find out why I was unhappy. I told her I got a second opinion and I had canceled my plan. She gave me excuses so I just hung up on her. Stay away!!!!!

I had made an appointment for my 3 month old kitten in January! And today 48 hours before my appointment I get a call saying that they're not taking new patients. It took them almost a month to inform me. I have to travel next week and now I have to find a new vet and a last minute appointment for someone to see my kitten. Extremely unprofessional. Don't even waste your time!

I have had animals most of my life Banfield has been the absolute worst exp.... I have had 2 dogs and one cat in their care. Several times there was miscommunication among staff. Unprofessional. Rude. Uncaring. I've followed what was told to me at every appt. Whenever I brought my pets there they were confused about what was needed for each. I brought fecal samples upon request to which when I got there was told it was the wrong pet and that the sample was not needed for what was told to me. Appts were made erroneously. I finally switched to another animal hospital and called twice with fax number and email address for banfield to send records accordingly. I have arrived at new pet and nothing was sent. Now waiting for banfield to send records the 3rd time requested as my dog needs to be seen at new vet imperatively. I would not recommend banfield to anyone for any pet . Extremely upset . Not acceptable. No longer tolerated.

With no appointments in the area we had to rent a car and drive from 2 hours away. We were not told of a window of time to arrive by and were 15 minutes late. They refused to see us and cancelled telling us to reschulede in a couple weeks. When noticing there were no appointments after, they told us they were going to lunch. We just needed a simple checkup and document signed.

I gave them a 5 because they r great for the first yr of your pet, esp with all the shots and the alterations, the first year can be pricey, with them your on a payment plan.. I don't recommend them after the fort year tho.. I find it's actually cheaper to bring the pet to regular vet for check up and yearly medication preventative.. they are a generic vet from what I've found and for emergencies or genetic issue with pets they earn a 2 star...

They’re really unprofessional at this office. We had an appointment scheduled and they claimed that we had never made an appointment. Also, when my dog needed emergent care they told us they could only see her in two weeks, and told us to go to the emergency room. I expected for them to at least have some emergency hours available for their clients. I ended up taking my dog to a different vet clinic because they were able to fit her in for emergency times, even when she wasn’t their actual client. My dog is getting older and it’s possible she will need emergency care again. I will be switching vet clinics, because the others make sure to fit in emergency care.
