Great with dogs, friendly staff

The staff at the barking lot took amazing care of my cookie monster! I will always trust them with the care of my oreo! Thank you all for everything you did and continue to do!

The barking lot is TRASH!! I left my dog here twice and she got Very Sick. The facility is unsanitized and very bad customer service coming from Megan the Owner. Do Not Leave Your Dog Here whatsoever! I spend $200 twice for Vet fees and she wouldn’t even work with me. She charge me twice for my dogs boarding stay and said i didnt pay the first time when i had payed cash and she could have called me but said she never had my phone number on file. Who leaves their dog at daycare without your personal info? Please don’t leave your dog here !!

We’ve been bringing our pup here for about a month now, and we are very happy with the care they provide during the day. Our boy has a few special needs, and they are attentive to them. He has a great time at daycare, comes home tired and we of course love seeing all the photos!

I bring my pup waffles a few times a week to burn off energy and get socialization, the staff is always incredibly friendly and answers any questions I have. They give updates on how his day was when I go to get him and what friends he played with. They even saved a baby tooth for me, the staff really cares about the dogs in their care and know what they are doing. I previously worked at a doggy day care where if the dogs were injured or got into tussles that were a little too rough they wouldn’t tell the owners, at the barking lot that is not the case. Waffles and one of his friends played a little too hard which they corrected and he had a little mark on his head, if they hadn’t told me I wouldn’t of even seen it, point being they are incredibly responsible and make sure all the dogs are happy and taken care of and keep the parents abreast to everything big or small ! I can’t recommend them enough and how transparent they are!

We have a 7 month old Papi-Poo who is unfortunately a pandemic puppy and hasn't had the chance to socialize with other dogs. The staff of the Barking Lot have been working with us to get him used to dogs and people. The staff have always been kind, respectful, and most importantly, passionate about their work. I highly recommend The Barking Lot for doggy daycare, and am happy to bring our dog to them with the knowledge that he will receive excellent care and attention from the staff.

I used this place for the first time recently because my vet isn't taking boarders. I'm so glad I found it! The people are great to deal with, and my dog gets to play with the other little dogs that are there, which he loves! They post pics on Facebook so you can see your dog playing when you're away. The kennels, where the dogs stay at night are all together, so they don't get lonely, but daytime is playtime! During Covid, they're taking extra precautions to keep everyone safe. I'm so glad I found this place, they'll be seeing Brady whenever I'm away!

The Barking Lot is second to none! I work from home so my pup Koby is used to being home and the center of attention. He is a very nervous dog and is not used to being around other dogs so he has generally shown aggression to other dogs to protect himself. The Barking Lot understands him and knows how to deal with it. They keep him happy and calm and keep the other pups safe by recognizing his mood :). He only stays when we are going away overnight. He is just turning 2 and has stayed The Barking Lot 3 times for multiple nights each time. This last time he had a break through and made friends with other dogs!! Which truly warmed my heart. They are constantly posting pictures on Facebook so I could check in on him through the week (yes I’m obsessed with him lol). I am forever grateful that The Barking Lot and the superior staff exists so we know Koby is safe and happy and we can enjoy our time away!

Our dog has been coming to BL since she was a puppy and she absolutely loves the other dogs and the staff. Thanks for taking such great care of her!

When we drop our Maggie off at The Barking Lot, she is lovingly greeted and cared for her entire stay - she never looks back! Maggie loves her daycare and sleep-overs, and we are always kept up-to-date with happy pictures of her playing and resting throughout the day. We highly recommend TBL as a caring and safe place for your pet.

I have a very active young female dog--she is truly a dog's dog and regular socialization at doggie daycare is a must for her sanity and mine :) We have enjoyed regular visits to many different doggie daycare facilities over the last few years. And we've had lots of good experiences however, The Barking Lot really sets themselves apart from other providers with an excellent facility, amazing staff and a superior daycare atmosphere. I've had nothing but an exceptional experience with bringing my dog to TBL 2-3 times a week for the last six months. Not to mention extended hours and weekend options--and boarding too! Highly recommended.

The staff is Awesome. They share the same Love and Devotion that we do for our dogs!!! Highly Recommend as a home away from home...

Truly a wonderful place to leave your pup!! Our girl boarded for a week and she has been exhausted since she came home. I know she was well cared for and had a wonderful time with all the other pups! We were even able to see her while we were gone because the staff posted beautiful pictures of her throughout the week on Facebook! We will certainly be using these services again!

This daycare and boarding kennel is truly extraordinary. I've had many dogs and taken them to many places but THE BARKING LOT in Hamden is heads and tails (LOL) above all others. My dog is very shy and attached to me but he loves going here. Meg, Emma, Lexie and all the staff are just wonderful. I can't recommend TBL enough!

My fur baby Beau is like my child so I’m very particular about who cares for him when I’m away on business. The Barking Lot is the BEST! As soon as we pull in the driveway he gets excited and can’t wait to run in the door. Beau loves playing with the other dogs during daycare hours and then getting a good nights sleep in a place he trusts. They also allow me to bring his food so he sticks to his normal routine when boarding. The staff is always very friendly and I can tell they are truly animal lovers by the way they care for all the dogs that come into the Barking Lot. I highly recommend them for your boarding and daycare needs.

Very nice place .they are family owned. They take their time. Very patient with my hyper dog. The staff is professional. Only negative thing is the location. But our dog was groomed impeccable. Thank you. We will be back.

I highly recommend this doggy daycare and boarding. My two German Shepherd puppies have been going to The Barking Lot for socialization and fun, these last 6 months. Recently I boarded them there for three days; I am very satisfied with the great care taken of my dogs. They are kept safe, happy, and engaged. You won’t find better! Update a year and a half later: still coming to daycare regularly and have boarded my dogs many times — two to three weeks while on vacation. Great staff and my dogs love going there.

We had never boarded our 2 year old Bella until this year, when my husband and I had a lot of holiday and business travel and couldn’t take her with us. We kept her at a Petsmart hotel at my home town for Thanksgiving and Bella was too anxious to set foot in a Petsmart again after that. By Christmas, a friend recommended the Barking Lot and Bella LOVED IT. She loves to play with the other dogs and always comes home happy and tired. She has been there a half a dozen times now. Even when we go to a brewery down the street from TBL, Bella gets excited thinking she is going to go play there! We love following their Facebook pictures of her and wouldn’t send our dog anywhere else! I don’t feel guilty dropping her off for boarding and doggy daycare because I know TBL treats her well and she loves it.

Recently boarded our dog, Dooley, at The Barking Lot. He is a rescue and we were very worried about boarding but Emma was so helpful in calming our nerves and Dooley's. He had a great time at the Barking Lot!

We have 2 dogs that LOVE staying at Barking Lot either for daycare or boarding. Meg, Emma and her staff are wonderful, always professional and knowledgeable when we call or contact them . They have been great paying attention to each of their needs. Our pups clearly can’t wait to get into the back with the other dogs when we take them. We highly recommend The Barking Lot!

They are seriously THE BEST! Our two pups adore the staff and experience. As dog parents we adore their attention to detail and the amazing bonus feature of seeing photos of our babies on their FB site while away- so nice to see them having such a great time!! Thank you The Barking Lot!!!

Our girl Riley stayed at The Barking Lot for 8 nights while we were away on vacation. We've never boarded a dog EVER and had no idea what to expect. My sister had a dog sitter come by for her dog....but we knew Riley needed people and pups around while we were gone so she would be exercised and occupied. Riley is very attached to us, so I knew she would be shy...but I also know she's curious...so I hoped she would explore and have some fun too. We were able to follow TBL on Facebook and see pics of Riley each day. It put my mind at ease seeing her out and about with everyone. When we came to pick her up she was so excited to see me. She jumped and wiggled and wagged...and then she turned and did the same to the caretaker who had brought her out...and then she circled back to me again. I got the vibe that she really liked that girl. Anyway...Riley had slimmed down a bit....but I would attribute that to her extra activity...and her change in routine. She was healthy, happy and ready for a nap when we got home. Only down side...after a week of water play and puppy slobber...she definitely needed a bath! Lol

The Barking Lot is Lucy's place to go while we are on vacation. We check their Facebook page everyday on our vacation for Lucy's photo! I feel safe leaving Lucy with them. Lucy is not so social dog but she sure loves staffs works there!

They are so warm and friendly and welcoming, my dog Penny loves it here, it is a home away from home for her and from the Facebook feed she looks to be having a blast in the day care!

We have used The Barking Lot for our Dachshund for over a year. She often spends the day at the daycare and has also boarded a couple of times. We have been very happy with their service!

My babies (Echo and Delta) love the Barking Lot. Most recently they both boarded there while we were on vacation. The minute I mention they are going to "school" they do laps around the dining room table and are ready to go. They come home tires and happy..a good sign of a good vacation for them too.

The staff at The Barking Lot is exceptional. The facility is warm and welcoming and it is Phoebe Rose's home away from home. Her sleepover was awesome and we are so lucky to have such great people take care of our baby. Thank you!!!!!!

I have been bringing my dogs to the Barking Lot for years. Whether it's for daycare or boarding, my dogs always become really excited when we turn into the parking lot and will always pull on the leash to go inside. I know they are in the best care, and I can leave them worry free. My dogs are my children and I would never entrust their care and well being with just anyone.

Our dog Bailey has a lot of anxiety and does not enjoy being away from us. We have brought her to other "doggie hotels", she would refuse to go in which made it really difficult for us to leave her. BUT, when we bring her to Barking Lot, she gets excited in the car, runs into the front door and is happy to leave us. If you say "do you want to go see Emma" - she gets excited. We know that Bailey is safe and cared for when she is at the Barking Lot and she is meeting a lot of nice friends. We recommend Barking Lot to anyone who asks. :)
