An overall excellent experience. Dr. Zyra & staff were super kind, helpful, knowledgeable & professional. It’s difficult to get a veterinary appointment these days, particularly for an exotic animal, but BVH was able to schedule me in and I’m really thankful for the prompt attention to get my pet on the mend. Furthermore - being an emergency visit, I expected a hefty bill. Instead I was relieved to find the office visit and medication for my sick iguana were similar to what I’ve paid for routine visits west of the river. Really cannot recommend this office enough!

I cannot begin to share my utmost impression of Bolton Vet and the team here. It all started when we needed them for an emergency visit for our 4yr old American Foxhound Bimmer. It was on a Friday during a major New England snowstorm. Many other Vet hospitals were closed and ones that were open had wait times of 6+ hours. We called Bolton Vet and they made us feel like family and told us to come right down. The care and compassion started the minute they answered the phone. That care and compassion continued throughout our entire experience. We are so grateful for the help they gave us and we hope they know how thankful we are for them and the care they gave our precious boy. He is doing fantastic!! Thank you Bolton Vet!!!! Sincerely, The Sartwell Family

12/10 would recommend this vet. I have small pocket pets (please read rats) and it is exceptionally hard to find a knowledgeable and experienced exotics veteran for their care, let alone one who genuinely has compassion for their species. Not only was their exotic vet wonderful with my Gandalf - and has rats of her own furthering my trust - but the rest of the staff was equally as compassionate to our human party in these trying times while we prepared for the worst due to the circumstances of the visit, a euthanasia. From the first vet visit, to the last, Bolton Veterinary Hospital has earned my trust, and respect. They are well beyond priced, empathetic, and fit me in without a second thought same day for our emergency. I can not recommend this team enough for your fur family needs!

Excellent care .Dr. Fitzgerald was very kind and compassionate when my senior 15 year old kitty was evaluated and treated. Gave her 100% individual attention. I would highly recommend this hospital to take care of your Special pets that you love so much ❤. Thank You So Much.

I had made an appointment for my sick dog. I was told that it would be considered an emergency visit and I would be charged the emergency visit price. I didn't mind because I love my dog and I just wanted him to be seen. I was given an appointment time of 8:30pm. I arrived 15 minutes early and called to check in as soon as I arrived. I waited in my car with my sick dog for over an hour. I called to check and see if they were still going to see us and I was told that the vet was working on another animal, but they were still going to see my dog. So I continued to wait for almost another hour. I called back and told them that I wasn't going to wait any longer and so they canceled my appointment and told me to call back in the morning for a new appointment. I'm not sure what is even the point of making an appointment if you're not going to see the patient at that time? Nobody bothered to keep me updated or check in with me during the almost 2 hours I waited in the parking lot. If you are that short staffed, then perhaps you shouldn't be making appointments that you can't follow through with.

Just waited on the phone for 25 minutes, lady finally answered, said she’d talk to the doctor and be right back, i eventually got hung up on. I called back and waited 30 minutes listening to their god awful music, and decided to give up. Good thing my cat isn’t dying.

They have been very good to us and our animal friends. Our dog doesn't think so, until she gets a little snack... Then she usually ends up happy with everyone there after getting examined. The cats really don't care, and let the vet trim their claws with no fight at all, how about that? They also tried to help when our other dog had a bad issue, but eventually we found that it would be best just to let her go. They handled this so well, and she finally got the rest she needed.

This is a wonderful hospital. Dr. M. Is very kind and knowledgeable. The techs were awesome and even the receptionist was great. The pricing was reasonable. I’m looking forward to bring all my pets to them. Thank you for your wonderful service.

My dog would still be alive if they had treated her condition correctly...wouldn't bring an insect to this place! The staff had no compassion for our loss....all they cared about was the $80 balance left on our bill. ...it's all about the money here....

Called because my cat was drooling buckets and generally unresponsive. I get told to bring her in for an appointment at 8:30. I'm then left waiting in the parking lot for half an hour, at which point I call again to get some estimate of when we'll be seen, only to be told that I'll have to wait another hour. Update. As of now I've been waiting two hours without being seen.

Our girl was having trouble whelping, she had 9 puppies with no problem but there we still 2 more. Of course it in the middle of the night on a weekend. There just aren't very many 24/7 Veterinary services. We called ahead and they wanted to see her as soon as possible. We arrived and they explained everything and included how much it was going to cost right up front. By the time it was all said and done we got great care for our furry family member at a reasonable price. We are very thankful they run a 24/7 operation. Our girl would not have been able to wait until Monday for our regular Vet to open. I highly recommend them!

They were able to see my dog Jaws with almost no notice for an emergency visit and they took such good care of both of us. Both the tech and the vet were outstanding and so nice. Highly recommend anyone to go here.

We love this place. They took care of my kitten Elio very good, we came back here couple times because we trust this vet. But it’s kinda sad that they don’t accept any new patients. We would love to put this hospital to our kitten primary care :). We’re waiting for it.

Dr. Kalos is by far the best veterinarian I’ve ever come across in the 20+ years I’ve had pets. You can tell she truly cares about your pet as much as you do.

Amazing rabbit vets! If your rabbit is having an emergency, this is the place to call. They are the only 24hr emergency vet that consistently has a rabbit vet on staff within a 50 mile radius of Springfield, MA. My rabbit had three bouts of GI stasis in 6 months and they were able to see him within a few hours each time. He recovered very quickly each time he was seen. The only other emergency vets for rabbits I could find were both in Boston (Tufts and Angell) which were twice as far from Springfield, MA as Bolton, CT is from Springfield. Highly recommended, especially in an emergency!

I switched to Bolton Vet from CT Veterinary Hospital in West Hartford and am so happy I did. The DVM's my dog and cats have seen are excellent and professional. The support staff are also friendly and responsive. Everyone cares about the health of my animals and I am thankful for that. Although it is a bit more costly here than other offices, I believe the quality of care is reflective of that. My dog recently saw Dr. Badeau for her dental procedure and he was amazing at explaining things every step of the way. Thank you for taking care of her!

keep in mind they don’t have one single board certified vet on their regular team when you’re over paying.

I've been a Bolton Vet customer with our lab since 2013. Our dog has been a regular visitor and I want to like them, and I want to bring our dog there, but I've recently had an experience that makes me not want to return. Over the years, I have found the service declining. There is always extremely long wait times on hold over the phone when you call. Our old Labrador couldn't walk on 2 occasions this past month. I made an emergency appointment and was told to bring him at 11pm on a weeknight. Mind you, this is a 24hr facility. When I scheduled the appointment, I was told it would be an emergency appointment and was assured of my appointment time. It would be about a $200 something dollar visit I was told on the phone. I arrive 20min early and call to checkin. Because of Covid, you must wait in your car until your appointment time. I called twice after my appointment time had passed and was told they were very busy and had other animals that needed more urgent care. I was told that my dog would be seen, but would likely have to wait 1-2 hours beyond my appointment time. I tried to be patient and understanding though. But, after about an hour had passed after my designated appointment time, I decided to leave as my dog was seeing some improvement after the wait time. I could tell he was still in pain though. With all the wait times, it's clear that the place is understaffed. I was told there there was only 1 vet on staff that night. So my dog never got his visit. I felt that it was unreasonable for them to set an appointment time, then tell you to wait another 1-2 hrs. The next day, I discovered another vet that fits our needs much better. After visiting the other vet, I have found Bolton Vet costs to be about 30% higher for the same services/medication found elsewhere. Bottom line...don't be a 24hr vet hospital if you can't see your patients in a timely manner. If you have only one vet on duty, and you are telling patients to wait 1-2hrs in your parking lot, call in more staff!

An absolute blessing. The staff and the docs are knowledgeable, honest, and are not looking to rip you off. Not to mention they were the only emergency vet in Northern CT that didn’t say we had to wait 10 hours to be seen for a dislocated ankle on my kitten. I would HIGHLY recommend them for emergency visits. I cannot thank them enough!

Absolutely awful experience. Had a pet death in the family and the staff was completely uncaring and unnecessarily cold and cruel. Do NOT recommend going here at all!

We had an emergency with our 4 month old rescue (fractured tibia). They were absolutely amazing. They were so good to our Baxter and explained everything they were doing. Very caring for animals and their people.

Thank you for your effort, help and recommendation that you gave me for my rabbit Lito but it was too late if he died in my hands, thank you so much for doing everything possible

I can’t really say much cause we didn’t even make it in the door. Our puppy had very bloody stools - so we called around 2PM and said they could see him at 11PM - Appointment only. Now I don’t know what warrants an emergency check up more than blood where it’s not supposed to be. We arrived early, checked in, and said to wait for a call from the doctor. 35 minutes go by past our appointment and multiple animals and cars go in before us. We begin to wonder if we would ever get a call. We finally lost some patience and called again and were greeted with an unpleasant woman “Is this an emergency or can you wait” response. Uhh lady We are at the PET HOSPITAL by your suggestion to us to bring our dog in. So yes it’s an emergency. After being on a 10 minute hold they told us there are other animals that need care more than our dog. And said they weren’t sure if they could see him in a tone with hopes we would just leave. LAZY. Over all poor front end experience which normally stems from the top. If you can’t keep you composure in a high stress high demanding environment don’t do it as your profession. Called our vet the next morning and they MADE space for our puppy to be seen because this is very serious. Again understand other animals need care too but to be strung along with no updates when we had an appointment is about as bad as customer service gets. 0/5 stars

The staff here are amazing. I had to put my fur baby down and they were amazing, letting me have as much time as I wanted him and sent me a card. Thank you for being so thoughtful during this sad time.

I recently brought my dog to Bolton Veterinary Hospital, it was a very scary situation and we were really anxious. The staff at Bolton were so helpful, understanding, and patient. My dog is a rescue and gets very nervous, very easily. They were able to help her calm down enough in order to get her to go in with them. When the doctor called to discuss their findings and options for moving forward she took the time to fully explain each option to us and answer all of our questions. She spent nearly half an hour on the phone with us and was extremely helpful. They helped us through this scary situation, they were empathetic and compassionate, and I could not have asked for a better experience.

Such a kind and professional place! I’ve been here for my guinea pigs and my new kitten (and my other family members go here too) and they could not have been more helpful and kind every time. Their communication is amazing! Due to covid, you sit in your car and wait, then they call you and update you for everything and it’s great. I don’t write reviews but this place is just a great place to go. ????
