One word--AMAZING! I stumbled upon Dog Wizard while looking for a place to board my two young puppies and thought "a little" training would be helpful. Given they were only 3 months old, I had fairly low expectations for how much they would learn/retain. I couldn't have been more shocked! Two weeks with Brenden, Marcus, Jess and Cullen transformed the big guys into well-mannered family members while remaining happy pups. Still stunned that they gladly remain in "place" for 30 minutes to an hour+ with other dog and people distractions (works in the car, too!). Wish I could give more than 5 stars. The follow-up lessons and graduate classes will be invaluable as they grow. Thank you, thank you, thank you Dog Wizard!

Jax just returned home from the Jumpstart 21 (3 week) board & train program in which he was attending to work on reactivity, socialization, and basic obedience. This program is perfect for anyone who works full time and/or for doggos that need a “little extra”, whatever that may be. German Shepherds are notorious for their intelligence and stubbornness… we had to make a lot of adjustments to our everyday life after Jax joined our pack and at times it could be both frustrating and challenging. Between the curriculum, facility, and trainers, I have nothing but amazing things to say about the entire experience! Both my husband and I were amazed to see his transformation over the 3 weeks he was there and have learned so much ourselves. We are truly thankful for them giving us all the tools and guidance we were missing to restore our confidence and open our eyes to seeing what IS possible. ????????

We had a 1yr old Saint Bernard that weighed 110 lbs. She was hard to control and got to where we did not take her out. We felt like she was in control, and were concerned about our little grand kids coming over. Enter Dog Wizzard, we were referred to by a friend. After their board and train, she is well behaved, has visited with the grand kids without incident, and we are back to daily walks without any stress. The service is not cheap, but a huge value for what we got in terms of a dog we can be safe with and enjoy. She was always sweet (never aggressive), but now under control and well behaved.

Cullen and crew were amazing with our two mutts Brian and tilli, both rescues from Texas. It is amazing what can be done with a dog when they are properly trained and treated. Cullen 100% honored their lifetime revisit policy when our dog began to regress. He was able to get us right back on track. Since our dogs have some special needs, we also board them here while on vacation and rest easy knowing the staff can handle them appropriately.

Jess is absolutely amazing. She has been, and still is, working with both of our dogs. My older dog can get a bit over hyper and not want to listen and the younger was scared and nervous about everything. Since starting with Jess, both dogs seem so much more calm and confident. In the past, they would not allow guests to pet them, either due to overexcitement or fear, and now they are actually happy when people come to visit. They are SO much easier to walk and actually enjoy going out with us. We are still working with Jess to introduce them to other dogs, but I have full confidence that they will be able to happily interact with dogs in the near future. I am so happy with chose The Dog Wizard and I would 100% recommend them to anyone who has a problem dog, or even just a new pup that needs some better manners. Our dogs are so much happier than they used to be.

Jess and Marcus are so great! They helped me with some much needed obedience training with my German Shepherd in their foundations class. My dog had already been to a board and train with another dog trainer but was starting to ignore commands and become a little defiant so I decided to give them a try. I love the group classes and being able to take part in my dog's training so that I can learn how to communicate better and have a better relationship with my dog. Definitely recommend!

Short Version: We love Jess and everyone at the Dog Wizard! They turned my rescue dog's life around! They helped with Ducky's many behavior issues and built her confidence! She's a new dog who loves life! Long Version: When we rescued Ducky she had experienced a rough past. She was dumped at a shelter after being used as someones backyard breeding dog. She was reported as being a severe neglect case, as she was emaciated and extremely fearful. She ended up staying at the shelter for 2+ months before being pulled by a rescue here in CO. When we adopted her she was extremely fearful of everything. We could barely get her in the car because picking her up made her scream and panic. She was very leash reactive towards other dogs and avoided or growled at new people. She would nearly pull me over trying to get at cyclists and other dogs (it was scary). She was very protective of the house and would lose her mind if someone came over or even just rang the doorbell. We tried training her ourselves, lots of positive reinforcement, treats, and lots of love! We saw some improvement with her around the house but we she needed a lot more help. She was still very nervous outside and would spend most walks looking around terrified. She would still growl at strangers who came over and was terrible on walks if she saw another dog. We knew she needed structure, to build some confidence and overall she needed to learn how to be a dog but we didn't know how to get all this! We reached out to Jess and the Dog Wizard after having Ducky for about 3 months and seeing little improvement with her behavior or confidence (she had some health issues we had to take care of first prior to starting training, otherwise we would have started much sooner!). We chose the Freedom program and it definitely lived up to it's name! We worked with Jess through COVID! We did e-collar training (I was nervous at first) but the tools they used only helped Ducky learn right vs wrong behaviors and built her confidence. Ducky is a completely different dog now! She is calm (this is huge) and happy! She walks perfectly on a leash we can pass other dogs (even barking/lunging dogs) and she ignores them. We can pass cyclists, wildlife, cats etc and she notices them but chooses to stay at a heel. She is comfortable on walks! She enjoys meeting people. We can take her to the store or on a hike without issue. She is perfect in the house, she knows place and if we drop food she will not touch it! She no longer tries to fence fight or bark at the neighbor's dog (who still bark at her). She actually likes other dogs and attends doggy socials. (She is still learning how to play with other dogs, she gets scared and panics) We brought home a new kitten and were able to introduce them without issue because of Ducky's training and her "place" and "leave it" commands! Now her and our kitten are best friends, they play and sleep together! The other amazing thing that the Dog Wizard offers is after graduation they invite you to do a weekly graduated class! They continue to help you and your dog after they graduate incase any new or old issues /behaviors arise! I can't recommend Jess and her team enough! They helped Ducky and us more than they could ever know and we are so appreciative of them!

I can't say enough good things about our experience with the professionals at the Dog Wizard. They have been there to help us navigate anything that has come our way with our two dogs, from puppy classes, to one-on-one sessions, and small group classes to help with one of our dogs leash aggression. Would highly recommend them!

I highly recommend the Dog Wizards! My sweet boy Dino was getting into fights with dogs in our home, was leash reactive and destructive. One fight was so bad that my sister’s dog needed medical attention. The vet tech suggested I contact the Dog Wizards as did another friend of mine. After speaking with Jess, I chose the board and train route. Although I missed Dino, I enjoyed watching his progress through social media posts and lessons. When Dino came back home Jess made sure I was set up for success. If I ever have any questions I am able to text them and they reply promptly. Jess has also offered support with lessons in my home to further identify training opportunities for us. I can’t express how thankful I am to for the Dog Wizards help.

Our 65lb Goldendoodle, Bentley, was impossible to walk, super high energy and a jumper. At that size, it was hard to keep control of him. We had heard great things about Dog Wizard and requested a consultation in February 2020. Cullen came to our house and explained he would just walk in and not “greet” the dog like most people do and ignore him/wait until he calmed down. Bentley jumped so high upon Cullen's entrance it looked as though he almost cleared his head! (Cullen immediately had a pretty good idea of what we were dealing with!). After the initial consultation/evaluation, we went with the 1-week board and train. This was EXACTLY what Bentley needed! He learned how to heel and walk happily and confidently and calmly, in addition to learning place/break commands, all of which have been invaluable! It was SUCH a night and day for us and upon pick up, we were beyond impressed and grateful for the work that Cullen, Jess and Marcus had put in with our boy, plus the detailed walk we did with Cullen. We were so thrilled with our experience that when we got a new puppy in October 2020, we immediately enrolled in the puppy group classes and have loved those for all the training, behavioral insight and puppy play time for our new addition! Exceeding our expectations, Jess runs “Graduate Class” on weekends for any dog that has been through one of their programs and we adore these group walks/mini training sessions at no charge. Thank you Dog Wizard, sing your praises wherever we go with our well-trained dogs!

I can't say enough wonderful things about The Dog Wizard Fort Collins! Both Jess & Cullen assisted in training two Realities For Children Therapy Dogs that provide comfort to children who have abused, neglected or are at-risk in Larimer County. I also use them for dog boarding as it is important that the girls have consistent training so when I return home, I know they were well cared for, loved, and behave well. Additionally, this family-owned business is choosing to make a difference in our community with their Realities For Children Business Membership! Many thanks to this powerhouse couple! Molly Secher

Hands down the best dog trainer in Fort Collins! My girlfriend and I got a Labrador puppy earlier this year and were looking for puppy training classes nearest us that had the best experience. When we saw The Dog Wizard, it peeked our curiosity. We didn't know whether to go with a private training session, a group training session, or virtual dog training, so they let us come for free to one of their group sessions to show us how well they can train dogs in a larger setting. Honestly, it was a fantastic investment in our puppy's development! She was having problems with potty training, play biting, walking, barking, crate training, and with other behavior training like leash training. All of these are significantly better! Even her playing with other dogs has become better and more relaxed. I can't speak highly enough of Jess and Marcus who operate most of the group classes. They are very experienced people who know a lot about dog behaviors. If you're looking for a dog trainer in Fort Collins who can help with puppy or older dog training, GO TO THE DOG WIZARD!!

We LOVE The Fort Collins Dog Wizard! To say they changed our lives would be a massive understatement!! Our greyhound Marco suffered from severe separation anxiety and a painful lack of confidence (around all people, busy streets, etc). We could not leave him alone in the house for more than 30 seconds without him totally freaking out and having an accident (even if we walked him for an hour before we left). We had been told by other trainers and multiple vets that we *might* be able to get him medicated enough for us to successfully leave him, but that we shouldn't expect a drastic change. It was debilitating and impacting our lives more than you can imagine. When we met Jess at the Fort Collins Dog Wizard, she said we could absolutely turn Marco's life around and teach him to be confident and well-behaved. And that is exactly what happened! Jess worked with us tirelessly for 8 weeks, and gave us manageable exercises that helped Marco learn new ways to approach his surroundings. The training definitely increased our bond with him, and we were so proud of all he could accomplish! It was so much work, but so worth it. On the first day we tried leaving the house together, and leaving Marco fully alone, Jess hung out in our yard watching the pet camera the whole time to make extra sure Marco was doing ok. He did great! Now, my husband and I can actually go places together without worrying about coming home to a frantic dog or an accident. We can also bring him to breweries and parks shops around town, and have guests over to our home without any problems. As a graduate of the Fort Collins Dog Wizard, Marco gets to go to free graduate classes each week, and we know we can always reach out to Jess and Cullen if we have any questions or problems. Jess and Cullen are beyond committed to their clients and are gifted at understanding the obstacles that get in the way of people and dogs building successful relationships--and helping their clients overcome them. They're also really great people who we love to be around!

I cannot thank Cullen and Jess enough for all their help with my dog Marley. Shortly after I adopted her, she began exhibiting fear based aggression and was frequently out of control on walks or when we had company. By the time we had our evaluation with Cullen, we were at our wits end with her. He was able to quickly pinpoint what Marley's issues were and come up with a training plan to provide her with structure and boundaries. We chose to do the Private Freedom lessons with her and within a few weeks she was like a completely different dog. Cullen and Jess were very helpful throughout her training and were always available to answer questions via phone or text after lessons. Now Marley is a much happier member of our family and gets to enjoy all the freedoms of being a well-behaved dog. I constantly get compliments on how well behaved she is and anybody who knew Marley before her time with Jess and Cullen cannot believe its the same dog. With that being said, I would highly recommend The Dog Wizard to anyone in need of a dog trainer. Thank you so much Cullen and Jess! :)

I searched for a long time to find a dog trainer in the Fort Collins area and am so grateful I found the Dog Wizard! My pup pulled on the leash & was very dog reactive. The dog wizard has completely turned his and my life around, we are now able to be around larger crowds and dogs and overall he is more calm. I can’t even begin to thank the Jess and Cullen for their time to help Summit and I. If you are looking for a trainer for your pup, this company is a no-brainer!

Dog Wizard’s Puppy Class with Jess and Marcus is amazing! It provided the socialization and structure my puppy needed. Kona is very smart and stubborn and without puppy class I can’t imagine how difficult she would be to manage. Thanks to their fantastic training I can now give her so much more freedom. Jess and Marcus were both incredibly patient with all my questions and told me to reach out anytime I needed help. We are looking forward to learning even more in their Freedom classes! I can’t recommend them enough!

I could not say enough good things about Dog Wizard. We took my partners dog Stanley there to work on not pulling on the leash and just being an all around good boy. He had some aggression issues and kept getting in fights with my dog. They then took my dog Porter to work on her anxiety since they were still getting in fights. Now they do so well together. They are so well behaved and have even started playing with each other! I only ever hoped that they could coexist, but now that they can comfortably wrestle with each other, all of my dreams have come true. Porter used to take off all the time off leash, and now she stays right by me. They both walk on the leash so well, and it's helped dramatically in our home life. We can finally have people over without the dogs being all over the guests. I cannot recommend Dog Wizard enough. They do truly amazing work!

I've had Jess work with both of my dogs, one very anxious and one very high energy. Her style of training is wonderful - very calming and rewarding. I really appreciated the one on one work because it was completely based on my dogs' needs.

Excellent experience with training our choc lab. Our dog was 6 months old when he went through the 4 week away from home session with the trainers. The trainers worked with our family (and kids!) for us to learn how to effectively communicate with our dog. So, essentially we were trained, too! That was so important because the training process made us (dog & humans) understand each other more. Now, our dog is nearly 2 years old and is so well behaved. He is calm, well behaved around strangers, walks on/off leash extremely well, comes when called, and so much more. This is money well spent!!

Can’t say enough great things about the people that run Fort Collins Dog Wizard. Silly name, but after a few lessons, you will see why they call themselves ‘wizards’. I have a fear aggressive dog that has had a few bite issues on his resume …

Jess is a life saver! Our dog was wild and crazy and needed some work. Jess did an awesome job with him and gave us all the tools to help with him now as well as in the future! I’m very pleased we found The Dog Wizard, if we get another dog or have friends that get them they will be the first choice 100%!!

Jess, Cullen, and Maddy have done an amazing job at not only training my puppy, but teaching me how to be more active in training. My pup has come a long way in one year. She's such a good listener now! I love that the dogs can get ongoing training through graduate group class almost every week as well. Also, it's great to know that our pups are in good hands when we go on vacation and use their boarding service. A+ all the way!

Fort Collins dog wizard helped us with our dog who was afraid of new things and new people. They did an amazing job during the training program as well as offering incredible support after the program to make sure everything is still going well. Would highly recommend using them for any training your dog needs!

Jess and Cullen were so great with my dog's training. They helped teach not only him confidence in himself, but also me to have confidence in both of us as well! My dog would not be the same dog he is today if we hadn't gone through this incredibly personalized one-on-one weekly training! If we hadn't moved out of the area, we'd still be attending the offered weekly graduate classes.
