Office staff is terrible. We’ve been going there for almost a year and every time I call to refill a prescription no one can find my dogs file. It takes days to get an answer back and I have to call several times to get anything done. ***edit*** 8 moths later (almost two years of being a patient) and the office staff is still terrible but my dog is leveled and not seizing anymore. I know that if I want anything done I need to start the process at minimum of a week in advanced to get an anything done.

I transitioned care of my pup away from Dr. Lane last month. I've been on the fence about how I would approach this review. The positive first, I do believe Dr. Lane knows his stuff. He also gave a very quick diagnosis and I think early response for my dog's condition, which helped us get it under control quickly. His office, however, is a mess. He delegates everything to office staff and techs. I spent $8,000 with him over 30 days, and I think I spoke with him for a total of 5-10 minutes - everything else is relayed through techs. The office also seems to be overwhelmed, and the appointment style for follow up care means your dog is examined (without you - I was never present for an exam), you wait for all the other dogs to be examined, and then he comes out and talks to you all in the lobby. I believe it is a result of this disorganization that led to the brushing off of my dog's complications with the treatment plan. I called to let them know he was throwing up, what may be blood. They blamed it on a toy - and coincidentally he did throw up a plush toy subsequently which led the tech to advise me to wait and see. 18 hours later I took my dog to the ER anyways and he was rushed into an emergency transfusion. A stomach ulcer (a common side effect of his meds) had caused him to become anemic. No one from the office ever inquired about how my pup was doing after the incident - in fact - they called back to tell me to increase the dose of the medication that contributed to the complications. I told them about the transfusion, and the tech said well the dosage needs to go up. At that point I realized no one there really cared about my dog - or at least no one that I dealt with on a regular basis. My dog will never return to RMVN. Oh and to cap it off, they strung me along on the refund they owed me as the result of insurance payments for 3 weeks after the fact - lots of excuses and only got payment when I threatened to file a credit card dispute. Bottom line, there are other great neurologists in this city (some recommended in other comments on this profile). Go elsewhere if possible.

First, let me say that I am not one that usually takes to a public forum to voice my concerns. But I would sincerely suggest that you research your options before booking an appointment with Dr. Lane at RMVM. I just spent an hour writing out a novel to convey my concerns around the treatment of my dog, however, I exceeded the character limit and am unable to post the series of events that have lead me to post in this forum. Suffice it to say that I truly feel like RMVN is entirely in it for the money. They act like they care so that you spend thousands of dollars on tests. But once the cash is in hand, their interest in providing compassionate follow-up care is non-existent. I sincerely wish that I would have read these reviews before entrusting my dog's wellbeing to this clinic. I would have driven to Wheatridge or Loveland or somewhere else.

I paid them 1000 dollars for tests my dog arguably didn’t need yet. First the tests and cost were a surprise. Second the drop off took an hour for some reason. Third they said they’d call with the results and I had to call them. Fourth they said they’d email me a care plan. Weeks later- nothing. For a thousand dollars I at least expect basic professionalism but I now believe it’s a grift. I’ll drive to Fort Collins next time. Avoid at all costs.

Our local veterinarian up in the mountains where we live misdiagnosed our miniature dachshund's ruptured disc and RMVN was the first speciality clinic on the front range to get back to us saying, "this is an emergency". We were hesitant because of some of the bad reviews, but the vet technicians and Dr. Lane were extremely accommodating and performed emergency spinal surgery the afternoon we brought her down. She was on her way to being permanently paralyzed and is now walking again, although the long term recovery is still underway. We felt that the staff at RMVN was very polite and professional. It was definitely standard procedure for them for the surgery needed for IVDD. Our dog spent 7 days in their hospital post-op and we received pictures every day as well as daily updates about her condition. Overall the surgery was at the high end of the price for this sort of thing we discovered but it was done very well as far as we can tell. Dr. Lane is a one man surgical practice so you will spend time talking to the technicians, not him.

The first time I took my dog to Dr. Lane was a fine experience and Dr. Lane and support staff were very pleasant and accommodating. My dog Bentley was diagnosed with general anxiety and we started him on anti anxiety meds and things improved until recently. Bentley started to have increased anxiety again and started to show some symptoms of pain and seemed a bit wobbly at times. I called RMVN hoping to get support from Dr. Lane. After two calls I finally spoke with a vet tech who said, “Dr. Lane says there is nothing neurologically wrong with that dog at least nothing we can fix”. I was then told to follow up with a behaviorist. Before we saw the behaviorist Bentley’s pain and mobility issues increased substantially. The behaviorist recommended we get a second neuro consult and she recommended us to Dr. Windsor at Wheatridge Animal Hospital. I took Bentley to see her yesterday and she was amazing. Bentley has been diagnosed with multiple myeloma and he is now on his path to recovery. I wouldn’t recommend RMVN and highly suggest that anyone who needs a neuro consult goes to Dr. Windsor instead. The support staff at RMVN are great and I’m sure plenty of people have had fine experiences with Dr. Lane, but at a time when I needed support for my dog I felt completely dismissed by him. I am not sure we would have every gotten a positive outcome for Bentley if we continued to see Dr. Lane. From my experience dealing with neuro issues in our beloved pets is a scary and emotional experience and I wish Dr. Lane would have seemed to have a bit more empathy. Luckily we found Dr. Windsor who was absolutely wonderful.

Longggg wait to see a vet who completely missed the diagnosis on my dog experiencing neck pain after spending $2500 on an mri. He passed us off to our orthopedic surgeon saying it’s an issue in my dogs shoulder, even though it was obviously neurologic. Took almost 2 weeks to get my own dogs records stating “the vet needs to approve it” - It’s my dog and I paid for his services, there’s absolutely no reason anyone needs to approve the release of his records to me... and if that’s truly their rule then they need to get it done in a much more timely fashion. The delay meant two extra weeks my dog dog experienced pain daily until we were able to take it all for a second opinion. They did not care at all that it was delaying his treatment and meant he remained in pain. My dog’s case was NOT treated with individuality or care. Not to mention I was there for 3 hours for an exam (with an appointment) and it took me another three hours the following day of just sitting in their parking lot to pick up my dog after the mri. I took my dog and the mri images to a different neurologist who immediately found the problem off the same images. She was able to give us a diagnosis and treatment. My experience with Dr lane felt wrong in my gut the WHOLE time and it certainly was. He missed a critically important diagnosis and fortunately for an amazing orthopedic surgeon on our side, we did not end up on a wild goose chase for orthopedic pain that didn’t exist. We went to a different and significantly better neurologist and we finally got our answer. Your money, time, and dog’s treatment is better spent in someone else’s care.

My pet's health is not thier priority. I have called for 8 days now leaving messages and voicemails and I still cannot get a call back from either the doctor or tech. I have major concerns about the medication they put my dog on and on top of that need a refill and they still won't get it taken care of. I paid hundred of dollars and they cannot even properly communicate with me about vital anticonvulsant? Dont go here.

Most irresponsible, overpriced, unethical business just trying to take your money. The vet clinic they work with was also a disaster. Initially was told the vet would see my dog first thing in the morning, yet, he didn't show up until the next afternoon. (I was told that "since he's the only neuro in the area that works on Saturdays, he gets to make his own schedule." Would be fine if I weren't told differently.) Of course, they were charging me by the hour, so I was told that due to the "check out procedure" my dog wouldn't be ready to be picked up for a few more hours, though I wanted him then. Furthermore, the vet immediately requested an MRI AND to start him on medications, without even consulting me! I'm not even convinced he even actually saw my dog. Then, though I paid for a consult fee, I was not able to even speak to the vet, but rather, only his techs who were not capable of answering my questions. Since I didn't start this thousands of dollars treatment on Saturday as the vet suggested (because he couldn't even discuss this prognosis with me) he then refused to even continue treating me dog! (Not that I would have wanted him to anyhow.) Moral of the story: If you want an egotistical, dishonest, scam of a neurologist, who just wants to take your money with the well-being of your pet not even considered, well, Dr. Lane is your guy! Most of the reviews here claim the same. There are plenty of good neurologists in either Loveland or Colo Springs...def worth the drive if you have your pet's best interest at heart!

We are extremely grateful for the expertise and excellent care provided by Dr. Lane and his staff, including Olivia, Charles, and Alyssa. Our 18 month old Bernese Mountain Dog needed a neurologist when she presented with neck pain and fever at the emergency vet. I called and was told that I could bring her over immediately. Dr. Lane diagnosed her with aseptic meningitis and began treatment. The staff and Dr. Lane called me regularly with updates throughout her hospitalization. I know that she received the best care possible with their team. Just 2 days later, she was feeling significantly better and we brought our girl home. We are so fortunate to have access to this top level of care in our area.

Dr. Lane and his team saved my dog's life. I found my sweet pup unresponsive after a seizure and on the brink of death. Dr. Lane's team was quick to see Marshawn after arrival and established a plan of action to treat him. We were able to rule out Pug Dog Encephalitis (PDE) and determined a bacterial infection was the culprit. Marshawn stayed 6 nights at VRCC and during this time he received the best care. Every employee at RMVN and VRCC were kind, compassionate and went the extra mile to ensure he was in good hands. I cannot thank Dr. Lane and his team enough for saving Marshawn. Shout out to Charles our vet tech and Alyssa who filled in one day for all the texts and photos. It made things a little easier while Marshawn was away. This is where you take your pet for the best care in the Denver Metro.

I've seen some negative reviews here, and wholeheartedly disagree. We took our sweet pup to multiple vets where they were unable to tell us anything. Immediately after taking Canyon here, they were extremely helpful, and suggested that we do an MRI. They found inflammation of the brain and immediately started to treat. Dr. Lane called us personally multiple times to discuss what was going on, explain the treatment, and answer many of the questions in a time of great uncertainty. Great team here from what we can tell.

They are great to work with, and very thorough! Everyone there is so sweet and they really love the animals they work with. Highly recommend, if your pet needs their help. Beautiful facility with lots of parking. After our appointments, staff are great at communicating any leftover concerns with Dr. Lane and answering my many questions over email. Note: they do seem to book out a little far, set up appts early! If they recommend a blood test...do it!!! As expected for a professional neurology office, it isn't cheap, but it is worth it.

My little girl Mellow was admitted to VRCC after suffering from focal seizures for over an hour last week (9/1). VRCC indicated she would be seen by their neurologist later that morning, and depending on her case, she might be transferred over to their office (across the street). While there was a communication breakdown later that morning, I was able to confirm she had been moved over to Dr. Lane’s care and was being evaluated. Brie was super helpful, and also very understanding about the emotional rollercoaster I was on. Through Brie I coordinated visiting Mellow that afternoon, as well as talking with Dr. Lane about what was happening. When I arrived, Brie came out and reviewed some information with me. She brought Mellow out, and I got to see she was doing ok. Fortunately she had no more seizure activity since I had dropped her at VRCC around 2:30 that morning. Dr. Lane came out and explained what he had seen and what he was recommending. Mel’s case was interesting because the duration of the focal seizures. He identified a potential right cortical deficit, but also explained he wouldn’t be able to say for sure if it was related to the seizure or not - the only way to confirm would be with an MRI and spinal tap if everything looked clear on the MRI (meaning we could rule out tumors or other disease). I agreed to and signed paperwork for the procedures, and Mellow was scheduled for both the next morning. I got to spend about 45 minutes with her that afternoon for which I was extremely grateful. It’s one thing to be told your dog is doing ok, and another thing to actually witness it yourself. The following morning Brie called me to let me know Mel was about to have her procedure and to expect a call from Dr. Lane in a few hours. When I got the call later that day, it was with good news - no abnormalities were detected during the MRI, her spinal fluid was clear and was being sent in for antibody and protein analysis. Mel was awake, and would be ready to go home later that day. When I arrived to pick her up Alyssa walked walked me through diagnosis, myoclonic discharge, and next steps (including med schedule and 10-day follow up appointment). Megan (I think, I’m sorry if I got your name wrong!) worked through payment with me. Everyone was awesome and super understanding working with a slightly neurotic dog mom who asked a ton of questions. I am hopeful we get my girl’s condition under control and find the right balance of meds. I look forward to continuing to work with Dr. Lane and his amazing staff in the future.

They are a very pull the number type of business. They do not care about the individual animal and every animal is just another number to them. They always use the excuse of being to busy to do simple tasks like refilling a prescription. They will take days to return calls, to schedule appointments and when you get an appointment you gey 10 minutes of doctor time in the 1hr + you are there a good amount waiting in an over crowed stressful lobby. Its very sad and apparent that they have taken advantage of being the only pet neurologist in the region. Shame on you all!

My dog Molli has been a patient of Dr. Lane's since she slipped a disc in her neck October 2018. We are well over a year out from her surgery and she has done exceptional since then. Photos are from this past summer/fall (less than a year after her surgery!), she is back to hiking, swimming, and everything she loves. In fact last month we did an 8 mile hike, I was tired and she was ready for more. Unfortunately in early January she started limping, I thought she might have sprained something or it was arthritis. After numerous visits to her regular vet and various ERs, no one could determine the cause and wrote it off as age or a torn muscle. I know my dog well after 11.7 years and I could tell something was wrong. I took her to Dr. Lane, where I should've gone first, and even before he did an ultrasound he said he thought it was a blood clot. Later the ultrasound confirmed the diagnosis. If I had listened to the other vets and not taken her to Dr. Lane, I'm not sure she'd be with me today, blood clots are serious. Something I've learned through this process is to not waste time running around to different ER's or vets. You can go through VRCC emergency if it's late or a weekend and Dr. Lane can manage care from there no matter what time it is and you do not need an appointment. One ER I went to, after she threw another clot, had her on too many blood thinners (injections) and they were very pushy about keeping her when they shouldn't have. That ER was not VRCC and luckily she's okay but I will only go through VRCC now for emergency situations as RMVN always has their techs onsite 24/7. Dr. Lane is brilliant and I'm SO relieved to have him overseeing all of her healthcare again and managing her condition along with proper medication and testing. Molli had an echo-cardiogram yesterday through RMVN which thankfully came back good, while I was waiting Lynn who assisted with Molli's surgery and recovery in 2018, ran out to tell me hi and to see how I was doing. The RMVN team TRULY cares about you and your pets. When I call (which I've done a lot again during the blood clot issue) I always get a response or am told when I should be expecting a call. I'm forever grateful to Dr. Lane, Lynn, and everyone at RMVN. I can now breathe knowing Molli will be getting the best care possible during her recovery from blood clots. I NEVER write reviews for anything but I cannot say enough positive things about RMVN. I look forward to her follow up appointment in 2 weeks. THANK YOU Dr. Lane, Lynn, and everyone at RMVN for always being so good to Molli and I :)

This is the same review as on VRCC. My dog is in their neurological center/hospital right now. He's old and they are treating him like a king. They are also treating me like the worried family that I am, and even with COVID19 affecting everything they are as timely as they can be, they have me visit my poor boy as much as possible, and they are giving him fabulous care. This is my second dog I have taken to them and trust Rocky Mountain Neurological Center and Dr. Lane completely. Yes it's expensive, but you get what you pay for. If you needed spinal surgery would you shop around for the best price?
