This harness saved my back. My GS at 13 yrs old 100 lbs) had two bad ACLs and he was old. I left it on him as he needed help getting up, his back end was so weak, wobbly, I used the back handle often to help him up. I had this for about yr, maybe longer. Best product, made well and I used it often. Thank you so much for such a helpful product.

Our older Lab Sam was in his declining years. His hips were beginning to fail. In addition to Medication, we try Hydro Therapy and Acupuncture which helped some. The Vet told us about Help Em Up. We thought about getting one but waited. We just helped him around with his collar and our hands on his hips. On a Friday Sams experienced a rapid decline in his hips. That afternoon I ordered a Harness as a last resort. I paid for Overnight Saturday delivery. The Harness arrived at 10am Saturday. Yes... It takes a few minutes to figure out exactly how to get it in on and adjusted. It was worth the time it took. Sam went from being almost immobile to being able to go outside for his business and able to eat and drink with just being helped up so he could walk on his own. Because of the Help Em Up Harness, we were able to share a few more months with our beloved Sam. Like many others, I wish I had ordered it sooner. Thank You for giving us more time with Sam, Rest in Peace dear boy.

The harness itself functions well and is great. The reason for the three stars is that it could possibly be easier to put on . Our 3 year old, 40 pound dog just had surgery for a ruptured disc. When we picked her up at the vet, the harness was already on her. Because she is having complete incontinence, and her hind legs are temporarily paralyzed, the harness gets soaked with urine so we keep taking it off. It is hard to get it back on and it would be very helpful if the buckles could be color coded or anything to help. Maybe straps could be labeled or numbered? Trying to get it on and off a dog who is in pain, sedated, incontinent, paralyzed, is tough. I can't roll her over and she can't step into it. I have to completely disassemble it and try to slip it under her and then rebuckle. confusing to tell which buckle is which when I can not see the whole harness.

I found them to be so friendly and helpful and the way the straps help customize the fit to my dog made a huge difference. He was so comfortable, and I could lift him super easy. An amazing product.

This review is NOT in regards to the product sold but completely related to the level of customer service I received. In short, the product is great and works as described based on our experience of use over 2 weeks. If you need it for long term use, and I do mean LONG TERM use, by all means buy it. If you are not sure how much longer your pet will be with you do not spend the money on this harness and purchase something much less expensive. Blue Dog Designs LLC / Help Em Up Harness completely lacks in empathy and would not accept a return of a $150 harness in pretty much brand new condition that was used from March 22, 2019 - April 6, 2019. We put our dog down due to age and loss of mobility in her hind legs and only used this harness for visits to the vet over those two weeks for acupuncture treatments. She did not sleep in the harness or even wear it for the recommended periods of time on the manufacturers website to get used to it. Just a couple hours at a time a couple days a week. When I called to discuss options of the return the individual I spoke with at the company suggested that I donate this brand new harness to a shelter or attempt to sell it using an online resell service. She explained their steadfast position of their return policy, which is absolutely stated on their website very clearly, and when I started to explain my disappointment the company representative hung up on me. Yes, that's right, she hung up on me. Had she handled the situation better she would have found out that I live in the same state where the company is located. I would have been willing to visit their office for an in person inspection of the harness for consideration of a full or partial refund. Poor customer service, turn tail and run (no pun intended) when met with opposition about a policy that needs to be revised. Even wheel chairs designed for pets have a refurbishing program where they accept returns based on condition and resell at a discounted price. Unacceptable. The company needs to accept returns using an evaluation process and determine it's returnable value based upon inspection. They can still be selective but they need to be more flexible given the cost of their products. If I had used this harness for an extended period of time and there were clear signs of use and wear but was still in good working condition I would absolutely donate it to a shelter. However, in its pretty much brand new condition that's not a suitable option for me given the purchase price. PLEASE be certain that you need this harness for long term use before buying it and finding yourself in the same situation. Who knows, you may get treated the same way I was and be hung up on.

These folks are amazing. I brought my dog in today for a fitting - they helped me get her out of the car (along with her overly exuberant brother), brought them water and treats, gave them both loves, literally sat down on the floor with us, and treated my girl like their own. They were gentle, kind, thorough, patient, and they talked me through everything. I will come back to write another review about the product itself when my girl has had a chance to settle in with it. But do yourself a favor: if you are considering a harness for your dog, schedule an appointment for a fitting, and GO HERE. One thousand percent worth it.

70 lb lab with pelvic fracture. A sling lift in flank area worked ok but required 2 people to move the dog. The 2 part, Help Em Up Harness was a huge help in mobilizing our lab and one adult could easily move him. Also much better for the physical therapy the dog requires. Recommend having dog fitted if possible as the rear-end in most dogs is smaller than the chest which is stronger and bears most of the weight. Our lab's harness was a large in the front and medium in the back.

The employee who helped me was nice, but I wanted to leave this review for anyone out there struggling with an old dog who can’t walk. My dog had hip Dysplasia and couldn’t use her hind legs. I originally wanted to go with a doggy wheelchair (walkin’ wheels) but vet said it’d be a better idea to get one of these to keep her muscles active. So I got my 15 year old senior cockerspaniel fitted for one and paid the hefty cost for it - only to be disappointed. The harness itself is tedious to put on and can be confusing and takes practice. You have to be careful not to pinch the loose skin on the tummy. While using it, you can’t “steer” your dogs leash and the only lift provided would be if you are actively using your strength to pull the butt handle up, either with your hand or the leash. Which is not comfortable for the dog because the straps underneath dig into their tummy and creates friction. In fact, my vet even recommended sewing sheepskin cloth to prevent scabbing which would inevitably occur after a while (my dog didn’t live long enough to experience that) which means it’s certainly not a good tool to carry a dog up the stairs with etc. I ended up having to buy her some REI trekking doggie booties because it wasn’t keeping her feet from bleeding and scraping against the ground. If anything it just added a whole lot of baggage to my dogs little body. I could tell it was exhausting for her. It was certainly exhausting for me too. The whole point of buying the harness was to make her final days as comfortable as possible and it didn’t. It made things even harder. Especially when her legs finally gave out. She was trying to drag them around behind her. I wish I would have just listened to my gut instinct instead of my vet and got the walkin’ wheels thing to hold her hips up on her walks. The intention behind the product is well meant, but it just doesn’t work. If your dog is deteriorating, do yourself a favor and go with the doggy wheelchair.

We were in desperate need of a full harness for our 75lb Wheaton/Beardie mix who struck down with FCE. This harness saved our life, and our backs, and most of all makes it possible for us to rehab "Buddy" many times a day with walking …
