Although a little overdue, I wanted to be sure to leave a review to, for, and of the staff and team at Southern Colorado Veterinary Internal Medicine. We learned just a few months ago that our pup, Bailey, of 10yrs had lymphoma. Our local vet referred us to SCVIM and we are so glad they did. While getting treatment at SCVIM, we worked primarily with Dr. Keith; but also with Dr. Miles and Dr. Dutelle. Our pup presented a complex case due to prior illnesses, but Dr. Keith and the team did a tremendous job in treating and caring for her. At every step of the way, we had honest and open conversation about what to expect, not to expect, and the risks. We never felt misled or pressured to make a decision or do something we were unsure about. Every decision and option presented was based on the overall health and well-being of our pup and everyone was genuinely concerned about making sure that she was being cared for, able to handle the treatment, not in any unnecessary pain, etc. This was extremely important to our family and we truly appreciated that it was also a shared concern for Dr. Keith and the staff. Sadly though, after only a month of treatment our little girl had been through enough and passed away peacefully. But in that month of treatment, we saw a true improvement in her, the return of prior normal habits, and we know that she truly had a better quality of life in those final weeks. Even after the passing of our pup, Dr. Keith followed up with us to check on our family and inquire if there was anything she could do to help us with the final arrangements, talk through her passing, etc. I know that if I was ever in this situation again, I would not hesitate to return to SCVIM and I would recommend them to friends and family based on our experience. I truly appreciate the exceptional care our pup received and for the quality time we were able to have with her once again before she passed. I know we owe a good deal of this to the Dr. Keith and the amazing staff at SCVIM. We Truly Thank You All for what You Do! Bryan

The entire staff here is so helpful and caring. Dr. Miles and Dr. Cannizzo helped our little chorkie with her recent bout of severe pancreatitis. Even during the weekend and holidays, we were encouraged to visit our baby. She is home as of yesterday and we are praying for a recovery.

Dr. Bangert chastised me in the waiting room, in front of other patients, for not being able to pay for a $7-10k surgery & after care on my year-old pup. (Mind you, I had already paid $4,100 - just a little less than two months worth of my salary - on diagnostics.) The doctor mentioned that she was considering paying for the aftercare herself, but she only mentioned this as I was leaving and had received my refund; she said nothing of it when I was in the back room crunching numbers and sobbing (for literal hours) prior to my leaving. I think she was hurt that I wanted to see if the teaching hospital at CSU would perform the surgery for cheaper (they wouldn't). I was really upset while I was crunching numbers. My dog is a sweet girl, and it was terrifying to think about her leaving so soon. I cursed a fair bit, but I never cursed at the staff or attacked their character; they were providing me a service, and I knew that it'd be my fault if I couldn't afford it. We returned home to find out my family had raised funds. They wouldn't cover the cost of her surgery, but it made me think twice about walking out. I wrote an email that apologized for my behavior and asked if they were still interested in performing the surgery. They responded many days later to say they were not interested. They were cold in their response. My dog ended up not needing the invasive, exploratory surgery (removal of a significant portion her lung due to a suspected inhaled grass-awn). I took her home and she was better within two weeks. We are considering reporting this experience to the board of veterinary medicine in CO. EDIT: The reason the dog did not need the surgery is because her lung was never collapsed. A second opinion revealed that, due to the fact the dog's blood oxygen levels were never below 90, a collapsed lung would not have been an accurate diagnosis. Collapsed lungs result in BO2 levels well below 90. In addition, the initial x-rays did not show a collapsed lung. In response to your response - I wasn't verbally abusive to your staff. That would include calling them names and blaming them for the situation I was in. I never did either of those things. High interest rate loans and credit cards are not a solution. 2/3 dogs are put to sleep due to financial concerns. Your staff should be better trained to deal with these situations.

Dr Dutelle and her staff are simply the very best. They care, they really do. Our Ellie is a very tough judge of character, and she loves Dr Dutelle and Kaleigh. Everyone she’s come in contact with has been warm, gentle and loving. We travel from Montana just so our girl can get her treatments from them. That says it all.

Great vet. Took our oldest dog here for chemo on Friday, they were amazing and treated her so well. Unfortunately the chemo was too intense for her body to handle, and we had to make the decision to let her go. The staff here was excellent, and made is feel very welcome.

Spent over a $1,000 in diagnosis and my cat died because they wouldn't let me finance their services. Thanks ????

All the staff are friendly, helpful and professional. They take excellent care of my pet. Even the parking area is open and easy to use. They have a fenced "exercise area" next to the parking for if your dog needs a potty break.

Would not recommend this facility. We made an appointment specifically to see Dr.Dutelle, an Oncologist per the recommendation of the 2 vets we were in care under. The front desk made a mistake and scheduled us with a vet. When we arrived we stated we were there paying for an urgent appointment to see Dr.Dutelle. No one did anything to make it right and honor the appointment we requested. This place does not own up to their mistakes. This could have been easily fixed. We spent over $1000 at their facility and did not get the information and care our vets were looking for. One front desk staff reached out saying they would follow up and NEVER DID. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE. If they can’t own up to a scheduling mistake, think about a larger mistake and your pets life. *the appointment with Dr.Dutelle was not offer without further costs. The receptionist said I would have to pay for the additional appointment other wise I would have accepted it and allowed you to make it right. That was what I was asking for so why would I decline it???? I was told I would have to pay for another appointment after the $1000 I had just spent with the vet. Again, someone is not owning up to how they handled this mistake.

The staff is very professional and caring even in the darkest moment, they show compassion and empathy. We would like to add: these folks do this job because they love animals. They aren't paid movie star salaries and they work hard, sometimes two jobs. Don't be unkind....be understanding and know that they are invested in the welfare of your pet and losing an animal is just as hard for them as anyone. They CARE. They do so much for others.....donate time and services, that you don't know. The are people with feelings and heart......they love animals just as much as any pet owner does....sometimes more.

I have worked with multiple vets here. All have been, kind, knowledgeable and compassionate. While their knowledge is great, they bring it down and explain it all very well. Highly respect and recommend.

Queen Liquor is a friendly place with helpful people that are not offensive or cranky, ever. I'm not a connoisseur of any sort, so the occasional answered question is appreciated. It's a kind of pleasant experience that you don't think about except in passing afterwards.

I love the care my little Dinky Dog has received with Dr. Hines. He is patient with explanations, makes sure all options are presented and listens. The staff are very caring and sweet. This has been a stressful time and I don’t think we could have better care!

Solved our kitty's problem on the first try! After an ER visit, an ultrasound and several trips to the primary vet (who is great), SCVIM solved our kitty's problem on the first try! Thank you so much!

When I first moved here from NM 2 years ago I had a very sick cocker spaniel. Dr Haines was extremely caring and found the right medication he needed for his rheumatoid arthritis. Thanks to the care from Dr. Haines and his staff, Lucas is doing great. I couldn't have asked for care. The staff is great, friendly and very professional. I highly recommend this wonderful animal clinic!

Was referred by our regular vet because our Maltese has a collapsed trachea and they wanted a more detailed evaluation. This was at the beginning of Covid, so even though I did not get to personally meet with the vet, she did a great job of explaining everything over the phone. I was very pleased with everyone and everything they did for my precious doggy!

SCVIM team are very friendly, and professional; they are very accommodating and treated my "kiddo" with care and compassion and did all they could for her care and surgery. The team there is unbelievably talented. From the initial phone call to the last follow up appointment, they were on top of it!

I brought Max to Dr. Hines last April. I was without hope and so scared to lose my heart dog. Dr. Hines and staff were so wonderful with him and their assurances that they would take good care of him helped my anxiety about being apart from him during the exam. Dr. Hines treated him and was completely honest with me the whole time. Sadly, though he was doing so well under Dr. Hines's care, Max passed away from a stroke no one saw coming. But he gave me extra time with Max and I will always thank him for that. I would bring any of my dogs to this facility in a heartbeat. They are amazing! Thank you, all!
