Jack is a true dog whisperer and has an absurd amount of knowledge about dog behavior. I started with a dog lacking confidence, reactive at times, and aggressive at times; with a Great Dane who is bigger than you that can be dangerous. There are not enough words to describe how thankful I am for this training. From the second we got to the door to meet for the first time Jack was instructing me what to do and what my dogs behavior was telling him. After our 6 sessions we went on a hike in Boulder and I had an entirely different dog and it was the best feeling ever. We still have a lot of training to do, but I couldn’t be happier working with Jack, he has made me a much better trainer. Thank you so much!

We adopted our second dog Kiwi, a border collie mix after she had been surrendered by her first adopted family. As a 6 month old puppy, Kiwi had very little self-control, and knew precisely zero words. We chose to work with Jack and Alex after seeing their great google reviews, and later finding out that several of our friends had also engaged them to train their dogs. We worked with Jack and Alex through 6 sessions plus the initial consultation, in addition to sending Kiwi to Stay & Train with them. As a direct result of their help, Kiwi is now a great off-leash hiking dog who joins us for nearly every adventure possible. She's also become very well socialized making it easy for us to trust her around other dogs. Moreso as a result of Jack and Alex's teachings our older dog Kodak has gotten a nice refresher course and is now capable of being a 100% off leash dog (where appropriate of course). Additionally both me and my partner have a lot more confidence in our own dog handling skills and regularly comment on their training being one of the best investments we've ever made.

Let me start about by saying: Alex saved our dog's life. A year ago today, we brought Aster home, an Australian Cattle dog mix. Aster was taken to the Shelter in Teller County, Colorado after being found tied up in a backyard, severely malnourished and neglected. While we could tell Aster had a lot of love to give, we also noticed very quickly that she had never been trained, socialized or given a stable, consistent routine. She was not house trained, did not know how to walk on a leash, was addicted to anything that moved (squirrels, rabbits, etc) and was very reactive to other dogs. We couldn't walk past another dog on the other side of the road without her baring her teeth, snarling, lunging to end of the leash. After a few months of trying to "train" her with treat-based therapy, we decided to pursue professional training. However, we were constantly turned away because of her known behavioral issues. "Sorry, we don't deal with behavior issues", they'd say. Fast forward to this past Spring and we were lucky enough to be connected to Alex at Dream Dog K9 Academy. After our initial consult she thought Aster would be a good fit; however, she explained fully that this was a commitment and was not going to be easy. Within weeks of starting her training we were seeing those negative behaviors dissolve. Through Alex's profound explanations and crazy, amazing knowledge base we were able to begin to understand how Aster's mind actually works, and teach her to cope with her past, rather than ignore it through traditional treat based therapy. Today, on her 1 year rescue day, Aster is a completely changed dog. She is comfortable in her own fur, knows how to cope with challenging situations, can meet new dogs, and has her Boulder sight & sound tags and hikes completely off leash with us. We are so grateful we found Alex (and Jack) and recommend Dream Dog K9 Academy to any individuals looking to invest in their, and their dog's future.
