Best place to adopt a rescue!!! Owner (Renee) really cares about placing the right rescue with the right person or family. She does not get all the best review's because she knows what she is doing and turns down people when they are not right. One of the Very Few rescues that actually love the animals they place. 5 stars !!!

I called to inquire a couple of questions regarding an adoption and the person answering was so scrambled and couldn’t answer a question regarding the pups she’s fostering and hung up said she was too busy?? A phone call alone let me know this person seemed unstable. Talking extremely fast and could not hold a conversation as if she was on something. Yes, I’m reporting to law enforcement.

Very helpful staff, answered my questions and were very responsive and timely. Renee was very thoughtful and made sure all the dogs had a great second chance for a forever home.

Renee (the owner) is an incredibly rude woman. She consistently yells at the dogs during training, even with the knowledge that many if not all of the dogs have been abused in their past. When our dog peed during training, she demanded that we buy her a bottle of wine. This establishment is extremely unprofessional, please do not spend your time or money here

I rescued my Rottie, Max, from Renee eight years ago, and he is my best friend. I found the owner, Renee, to be very concerned about placing the right dog/dog breed with the right owner/in the right home. I truly believe that she is working hard to help all of the dogs in her care. Many people want to adopt Rotties because they're beautiful and are good watch dogs, but find they are not prepared to deal with a large, powerful dog; this is why Renee has so many Rotties to rescue. Large, powerful dogs need appropriate training, and regular handling, to be good companions/family members, or there is great risk to the dog's well-being, and possibly to those who encounter it. ROF understands this, so Renee is straightforward when she feels the dog is not a good match (she has a reputation for being a skilled assessor). Some people may not appreciate Renee's candid way of speaking, but she will not put a dog, or people, at risk just because someone wants a specific dog/dog breed. Rotties are not the best dog for everyone; they require an experienced/assertive handler. If you are truly interested in giving a dog a good home, work with Renee to find a good match. I know she was "right on target" with Max! NOTE: Potential adoptive families, please be aware...rescue dogs may have suffered trauma in the form of abandonment, abuse, or neglect. This can affect the dog's personality & behavior...just as it would a person who suffered similar trauma. This is why it is important to evaluate each person/family/dog match individually. Renee is known to have not only extensive knowledge of dog breeds, but she also gets to know each rescue dog's personality & behavior so she can complete a full assessment of the dog's personality & known behaviors. The more meticulous she is...the better the match...dog happy...people happy. PLEASE do not assume that you "know" a dog breed because you have already had a dog of that breed. You may know general characteristics of the breed, but adopting a rescue dog may have special considerations. If you are patient and cooperative...you and your new pet will reap the rewards of Renee's expertise.

I adopted by Rottie, Bosley in December of 2014. Renee picked him to be the best match for my then 13 yr old corgi. He was about a year old when I adopted him. With ROF you get free lifetime training and we took advantage of that going through all the basic and then intermediate training. He is the best dog I have ever had. Everyone loves him and nephew who was 6 months old when he met Bosley is now 6 and they are besties. ROF is a great rescue who really cares about their dogs and makes sure they go to the right home!

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED WITH ROTTS OF FRIENDS!!! I will never go or send anyone their way to adopt any kind of dog! Drove almost 2 hours to the rescue just to be instantly disrespected by Renee (the owner) she instantly didn’t want to give us a chance, including my parents who have rescued rottweilers for over 20yrs! She actually told me “I care about your daughter’s safety, unlike you” Um….. excuse me! I am her mother and will protect her against everything including ignorant people like you. I was so upset with how we were treated and I will NEVER be in contact with them again. Honestly I feel bad for all the dogs they rescue, because they need to be rescued from that hell! Not worth the time, not worth the drive and they are definitely not worth the energy of trying to adopt from them. If I could give them negative stars I would!

I had the opportunity to visit this place and meet the owner Renee. A beautiful place where all canines get a second chance at life. She couldn't of been any kinder. Her passion for these lovely beings is beyond extraordinary. She and her staff love and care for each and every one of these beautiful creatures. Training, evaluating and rehabilitating them individually, and then when adoption time comes they get to hopefully go to a beautiful family that they can be a part of. And if not , they get to stay and be apart of the Rotts and friends family sanctuary. This is a non-profit organization and donations are needed to run this facility. They do fundraisers to help with care, medical, and wellbeing for these canines. If you are a dog lover such as I am, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND checking them out on FB. If you feel like u want to donate you can contact them. Definitely a favorite of mine and they are local to my area????????❣️????

They have lots of beautiful rottweilers on Petfinder, so I drove from out of state with documentation from my landlord. Staff was nice, except the lady in charge was like a prejudgmental drill sargent. She didn't know me or have time for me. I didn't even get to see the rottweilers????

Rotts of Friends Animal Rescue is amazing. Rene took my call for help on her day off, to take on the sweetest Rottweiler Lucy, who was set up for a euthanasia appointment. Not an aggressive bone in her body. With the help of the Rescue we saved her life!!!

Renee is very good at matching the dogs with people. I have adopted 3 dogs from her and 2 of them became my service dog, and the pup I just got is currently being trained, and were perfect.

Edit: A friend and I both adopted dogs from ROF a few years back. Their policy is that the dog's chip remains registered to ROF in case the owner isn't responsible about updating their information. I was annoyed but understood where she was coming from. My friend's got loose, was found by a stranger, and scanned at a nearby clinic. The chip was UNREGISTERED. Thank goodness it's a small town and one of the vets recognized him. I brought in my dog and asked to have him scanned as a precaution and he was unregistered as well. Both are now properly registered to their rightful owners. If you adopted from them, please check your pets. Renee means business. She asked lots of questions regarding my situation and history training dogs. I came in with a specific dog in mind but after I met him, she brought out a different dog that was a perfect fit for me. He's been a wonderful addition to the family. Rotts does wonderful work saving dogs that may otherwise have been put down. I am very appreciative that she offers free training for the dogs adopted from her and went through the course. We found other methods that worked better for our dog's needs and personality, but it was a good start. Won't knock her for using methods that have consistently worked for her and many others.

Got a beautiful rescue Husky. It is very important to be on time. Not late. Not early. The owner is very busy and values their time. Adoption process was efficient and owner was very caring about the dog and ensuring we understood everything about our new companion.

Total dirtbags who want you to sign a contract that allows them to come take back the pet whenever they want and have apparently done it several times

I've adopted twice from this reputable Rescue & have participated in the wonderful, FREE, LIFETIME, obedience training classes & I couldn't be happier. Renee is knowledgeable and very experienced with all breeds, but specializes in large working breeds.

I have adopted 3 dogs from Rotts of Friends. Renee, the director, is the most knowledgeable, capable animal handler that I know of. She is a world class Schutzhund trainer with the ability to pass on her knowledge to students. All rescued dogs come with free training classes, for the life of the dog. This is huge! Most of the dogs she rescues have behavioral issues. Except in rare circumstances, responsible dogs owner's dogs do not end up in rescue. If you want to rescue a rott or a pit bull, you'd better be willing to train it. There is no better person than Renee. If you need to be coddled, stick with Golden Retriever and kitten rescue. Although you can often get both from Renee but she works way too hard to indulge entitled, demanding people.

We drove 2.5 hours from Redding to try to adopt a Rottweiler and was met by the Rudest, most annoying and ridiculous owner of the facility you could ever imaging. While we were there another couple who drove 4 hours arrived at 10am also and were equally put off by this individual and were told to come back at another time. WOW after driving for hours. She made excuses for not showing us any dogs as she was too busy but did tell us we were great candidates for a Rotweillert . rescue. We have had several over the past 20 years and they were part of our family. DO NOT DRIVE OVER 10 MINUTES TO WASTE YOUR TIME DEALING WITH THE MONSTER AT THE KENNEL.

My family applied to adopt a Rottweiler at Rotts of Friends. Once our application was approved, we drove up to Woodland from the Bay Area to meet the pup we were interested in. We called ahead to confirm if we needed an appointment and to make sure it was ok to bring our dog to meet the possible new addition - we were told that no appointment was needed and to come by during open hours. We arrived at 10:15AM on 10/16 and called to let them know we were here (during Covid times). They informed us, EXTREMELY rudely, that we were late and needed to be there by 10AM and that they could not show us the dog. We explained that neither their website nor the staff we spoke to had mentioned a necessary time and that we had even asked about an appointment. The woman insisted we were wrong. We asked if we could have the two dogs meet and just come back to proceed with the adoption at a later date. We were very rudely told no and that the dog we were interested in could not go home with another dog. This was news to us as the website did not detail this behavior about the dog AND our application noted that we already have another dog at home (our application that was approved before we drove the 2.5 hours). She finally ended her tirade by telling us that even though we are experienced husky and pit bull owners (large/aggressive breeds), we had to be experienced with Rottweilers to adopt the dog we were interested in. We left and will NOT be seeking to adopt any dog from Rotts with Friends. We are very reasonable people and would have understood if our application had been denied for any of the above reasons, or even if we had arrived late and been told politely to come another time. It is a shame that this rescue is turning away kind, qualified and interested adopters in such an unprofessional manner.
