Alta Mira is the BEST veterinary clinic I have been to in CA, and I've been to a few (with our senior dogs with MANY issues). To find a clinic with an authentic caring staff, from the front office to the techs to the vet,they've been been remarkable. They care deeply for animals and their owners, and aren't there to price gouge or upsell. Dr. Dodd is a wonderful veterinarian and she treats our dogs as her own. She's honest, will tell you the tough stuff with love, and won't beat around the bush. She's helped us make many tough decisions about our dog's cancer care, even when she knew it was not the answer we wanted. If you are looking for a vet, I can't recommend this clinic highly enough.

This is a hidden gem of a veterinary hospital! They are excellent and give you the meds and treatment that your pets need. And they heal quick! None of the unneeded testing of this and that. And to boot they are very nice people. Highly recommend this animal hospital!

Dr Val and staff took excellent care of my beagle Tootsie . Honestly don’t go to the vet often . Dr. Val and staff were there for us when Tootsie had horrible skin problems and we resolved the problems I have since moved to Seattle and with sadness I have heard that Dr Val has passed away . RIP Dr Val .

I brought my two cats here today to see Dr. Dodd. She was our vet at a different hospital. Dr. Dodd is very compassionate and very reassuring. She listened and HEARD my concerns. This hospital might be a little older but it was immaculate and you can tell it has been taken care of with love and pride. The staff is wonderful. I loved the sign in the reception area! Thank you Dr. Dodd!

Our pug loves going here. The staff is friendly. We've never actually met the veterinarian, it's always the vet tech that does all the communication. We have a bet going that there isn't actually a vet there, lol. It's hard to park in the lot during busy times and they are always running late on appointment times so expect it to take longer than planned. The prices seem reasonable and it's clean. They have a nice grassy pee area outside that you can wait at. They are also very old school when documenting visits. It's not on the computer, it's hand written.

Have been going to this place for 28 years they're amazing, I wouldn't go anywhere else. I'm just so sad to have lost our favorite vet Dr. Val was an amazing woman.????????????????❤❤

Great Vet! Super friendly people work here and my dog had a great checkup and rabies vaccination. I would definitely recommend.

We have had Dr. Val as our veterinarian for over 40 years. She is a very passionate person and cares very deeply about her cliental both two and four legged! She is a very knowledgeable doctor and has helped keep our pets healthy throughout their lives. We love her dearly.

I've unfortunately been to way to many Vet's. Those places always gave me an uncomfortable feeling and my dog was always terrified. Alta Mira, luckily, saw my dog in an emergency (when the previous vet's were to busy to help.) Never once felt that uneasiness and my dog never flipped out. The staff is great and James and Dr. Val are just amazing. Thanks again for taking Bo when he was so sick. And thanks again for helping my fur baby get better.

Staff is super warm and take care of the fur babies like their own. They must like their job because they are very nice about everything ????????

Best Veterinarian in North County.

This place was amazing when helping my senior dog, Suki. I can tell they actually care about the animals and they even found out something we didn’t even know about that was going on with her. The only thing was we didn’t expect to be stuck with such a large bill. We went in thinking it would be under $300, and between two appointments it is going to be over $1,000. We originally got quoted $600 by the doctor and then when it came time to pay, one appointment was $730 alone. We have another appointment tomorrow and they said that one should be around $200, but we will see. Because of the Corona virus, money has been tight. But I know it is worth it.

They really care about your animal

Great place. People are nice and the Vets are amazing. We take our 3 dogs here. They are also affordable.

We have taken all our animals here for the past 15 years. Dr. Val is extremely kind and knowledgeable and the staff treats us as family.

Very, very caring staff. Always worked to get our pets seen quickly and spent extra time on phone consults when we had questions.

I recently dropped my puppy off to be seen. She was ill. I was told they needed to keep her for 3 days. I called at approx. 4 pm because I had yet recieved a call about her status. Just to be told my puppy died at 11:30am that morning. I was not informed at the time of her passing. Nor anytime after that I don’t even think they were going to call me to tell me. . That is very unprofessional. I will never return to this location ever again. I paid a $500 deposit. Just to not be told anything.

We have been taking our dogs to this vet for a few years now and I have nothing but great things to say about them. They are absolutely amazing with our dogs ! When we had to put one of our dogs down a few months ago they were so empathetic and supportive, they sent us a beautiful bouquet a few days later with such a sweet message. I highly recommend this vet and appreciate all that they have done for my furry family :-)

My husband and I have been going to Dr. Val’s for over 32 years. She and her staff have become family. They are all worth a thousand stars. They have been with us in the happy times with new puppies and in sad times when we had to tell some of our dogs goodbye. We even board our dogs there when we take a vacation. Thank you all for being part of our lives.
