Very Happy! we drive miles to see Dr. Barrett. My dog use to hate going to the vet until we started going to Community Veterinary Clinic. Now she's much better with the kind care at CVC. Dr. Barrette has cured her skin cancer and we always have positive outcomes on our visits. A big Thank You to Dr. Barrett and his fantastic staff!!!

We had a sick Pekin duck who we thought was having respiratory distress due to a mealworm stuck in her trachea, but Dr. Barrett, after consulting some X-rays, quickly diagnosed the problem as severe pneumonia. I was amazed at how quickly he was able to diagnose the issue; most vets take a few hours to figure that out, but it only took him a few minutes. Unfortunately, we had to put the bird down, but we know it was for the right reasons, as she was suffering with all of the fluid accumulating in her lungs. Between the responsive staff and the professional care, we will definitely be bringing our other 30 Pekin ducks we have in to Dr. Barrett for veterinary care!

I’m writing this as a once green cheek conure bird mom who loved her pet dearly. He was only 3 years old with too much life to live and unfortunately passed away in my arms. I came to see the vet the day before his passing and was hoping to receive some medicine or something to relieve his sickness. I recently moved and drove an hour to get my bird seen here. There are currently no avian vets in my area that could see me with such urgency, so I had to make the drive. The vet suggested an X-ray but no blood work as he mentioned that the amount of blood in a bird is much less and he could potentially just die from the amount drawn. I am convinced if he had done a blood exam I would have known what was wrong and had gotten treatment for him and he would’ve still been alive. He was a fighter. I am upset with the treatment plan of “wait and see” as that always leads to something worse especially with small birds. After much research I’ve seen that several bird owners suggest and always get blood drawn when their bird is sick and their avian vet ALWAYS suggests it as a course of action to find the underlying problem. I am hurt and distraught that I didn’t know of this sooner and naively went with the vets treatment plan of “wait and see” instead of what could’ve saved his life. I write this to warn other bird owners if you do come see this vet to press on blood work and get it done as it could possibly save your pet birds life and give you the peace of mind of actually knowing what is wrong.

I have an animal that's not necessarily one you come by too often and the doctor saw him and prescribed him meds that helped so much. Love this place. Really good prices

I took my budgie today for the first time because it looked like he had cold. The staff were professional and quick. The Doctor who saw it knew immediately what was wrong and gave antibiotics for the respiratory infection. I loved that he didn't wast my time and money on tests that weren't needed. I would definitely recommend this vet.

CVC saved our dog’s life. We brought in our mini dachshund pup and he tested positive for parvo. We thought he was gone for sure but the doctor and staff gave us options and we decided to admit him and give him his best chance. They were honest but caring about the situation. I was able to call multiple times a day to check on him and they also called me multiple times a day to give me updates. Our little guy pulled through thanks to their care and dedication. They could have kept him longer and charged more money since they gave me an estimate of up to 2 weeks but they were very honest and didn’t keep him any longer than he needed to be there (price was HALF of what they said it might be). They are very honest and hard working and I will definitely be taking my pets there for any of their future needs.

I have been so impressed with Dr Barrett and his staff. They have been taking care of my dog since I moved to town. They are good about having close follow up and show that they truly care about your pets. Excellent veterinary clinic.

Awful experience! Scheduled an appointment over a week ago and still was asked to wait outside in 101 heat! Had to leave without being seen so that our dog didn’t have a heat stroke!!

today was my first time at this vet, and i am very grateful for their help. they are the only place who was willing to treat my rat, and i called around quite a bit in my city before deciding to come to this clinic in turlock. dr. barrett was recommended to me by many of my friends, and i can see why! the staff was very nice to me as was the doctor. will be going back to finish my rat's treatment in a couple weeks, and will definitely be coming to this clinic again in the future if any of my pets need help.

Considering its the only vet clinic near me that treats ducks and other 'exotic' animals, they're friendly and knowledgeable. Little on the pricey side.

This vet and his staff are truly amazing. We have fostered a few dogs and have brought them through here to be treated with the puppy plan. We also have our family dogs who we bring here regularly for the past 3 years and absolutely love this place. We drive from Modesto to come here because the wait times are low, the prices are more than fair, and the vet takes the time to get to know each animal that comes through, and the owners of course. I have been in a room with Dr. Barret and watch him get down on the floor with our dog to make her more comfortable and our dogs love him (especially if he has the chewy anti-flea med). Will always recommend this place and we will keep coming back!

I first came to Community Vet several years ago, because another vet in town refused to see my dog because the surgery he needed was going to $1500.00 and I didn't have cash and at the time apparently I didn't pass their credit check. So as my dog is dying in their waiting room I called community and was told to bring my dog in and we would figure it out. By the time I was able to get my dog over there he was almost gone and the good Doc let me know there was only a slim chance of him living through the surgery. I opted to have him put down. The kindness and caring they showed at that time let me know I would not take my animals anywhere else. On Tuesday my old dog finally need to go to heaven to play with his brothers and sisters, again as I held my boy to say good bye, I was met with nothing but the utmost kindness and compassion from both Dr. Barrett and his staff, if I could hug them all I would. There is no other place in Turlock that I would take my Dogs. Thank you for all you do.

They listen, they care. They don't take advantage of your pet's situation to overcharge you, but give you all the options. And they care. (Repeating myself for emphasis)

Dr. Barrett fixed my dog's eye after two botched surgeries at Monte Vista Animal Hospital, and he got it right! Monte Vista was still going to charge me almost $1000 for a surgery that they messed up the first 2 attempts within one year. Dr. Barrett also gave me a great payment plan (since I was broke paying off Monte Vista--I was still paying them off when I scheduled the 3rd surgery with Dr. Barrett). Dr. Barrett is highly recommended and knows what he is doing!

Dr Barrett is all about money! He doesn't care about your animals, he only cares about how much money he can get from you. I just got off the phone with their clinic, my dog has a severe ear infection that for over a month I've tried to get help with from the local veterinary, but, because I'm poor, and not from this area so my regular veterinarian is in another state. That's right, I'm someone that is on a fixed income for the rest of my life because of greedy people that caused my injury and left me for dead all over money. Now I again face the greed that consumes the weak, and Dr Barrett is just that, a weak human who seeks wealth through greed. I was told I cannot have my dog looked at because I don't have money. Thus the ear infection that I've been turned down by every veterinary in the area for six weeks now (probably because it wasn't bad enough to see my dog), has now swollen both her ears, throat, and she keeps crawling under the trailer refusing to come out, probably because she is dying. All this because the veterinary industry demands money if you want your pet to live. Well I'm disabled, and this pet is more than that to me, she has been my trained service animal for 7 years now, and now I am being forced to watch her suffer and die because of GREED! UPDATE; I call back to see if they may have a change in heart in light of my review. First let's address the conversation that sparked this review. In a discussion about a credit app for services, was told OK to bring my dog in and the Dr would see her. I asked for the address following my giving my name and phone number and my dogs name for the appointment, I was put on hold, and while waiting for her to return, another woman got on and told me I wouldn't be able to see the Dr unless I had the office fee, and I'd need to buy any meds, as well as any services or procedures would have to be paid up front. So my appointment just turned from paid by credit, to cash only. You see my dilemma, I've already explained I have no money, so I'm being brushed off because of GREED. So now my dog dies in front of me because I'm not in a position to afford the needs of my service dog, and not just this veterinary clinic, in the Modesto area I've been told over and over, "NO MONEY, NO SERVICE!" I only called back in a last ditch effort for help to save my dogs life, but instead, Monica accused me of calling back to harass them and hung up on me. The veterinary industry is just that, a money grabbing, greedy, hateful, and uncaring brood. They are the greatest animal abusers on earth, and should be locked up for the hate they have for animals. They only love your pet if you have money!
