Absolutely HORRIBLE experience. I am so ashamed and embarrassed to have trusted my horse here. My horse was not taken care of when I boarded here. We hightailed it out of there so quick. Disgusting greedy place. All of the “negative” Google reviews and Yelp reviews are a 100% how it is there. I wish I would’ve seen them sooner instead of seeing what facility was closest to my home to board and letting their honeyed words persuade me. Never making that mistake again!!!

This place is shady. Just be careful. I am not saying they overall bad people but my entire experience was off and unforgettable. Do. Your. Homework.

I have been to this ranch a number of times and I know Segrid and Bridgett and all I can say is they are good people. They care for there animals and respect people. Salt of the earth people. I’d highly recommend paying a visit and going on a ride there. You will love it. Guaranteed!

For starts don’t believe what you read on here. This ranch is 100% honest on the horses you’ll be adopting along with more options with training. So you and your favorite horse can be a match in heaven. I am a employee at this ranch I been an employee at this amazing ranch for 2 years and I became family for how generous and loving this family is. They will always make sure the best of the best for their horses along with the adoptions. I highly recommend coming here for your dream horse

I adopted a wonderful horse from Whispering Meadows Ranch. All the horse's at the ranch were well cared for and in good condition. The staff was honest and up front about the horse's known history and training. They were clearly very concerned that I adopt a horse that was a good match for what I wanted to do as well as finding a good match personality wise. The mare I adopted had one eye and they made sure I was aware of exactly what challenges that can bring and that I was committed to providing any special care she might require. Their adoption contract is both comprehensive and clearly written. The responsibilities of both the organization and the adopter are clearly stated. One of the most well run rescues I have ever worked with.

Update. Was Very sorry to leave this negative review at the time and now realize How ignorant I was trusting her and this supposed rescue. We are heartbroken after purchasing our forever horse and finding out after the vet check that she is going to be forever lame. For her, every step is painful and she was only 10 years young. She was sold as a jumper and sound, none of this was true. There are a lot of lies and deception at this establishment. I would ask for all that records, and I would never trust this woman nor her rescue. Heartbreaking. Just heartbreaking.

I rescued a horse through WM and boarded it there for several months. The whole experience was great. I have grown up around horses and this is my 3rd retired thouroughbred. I ended up getting a different horse than the one I originally intended to adopt. After inquiring about what I was looking for in a horse Segrid (the owner) suggested one of her other horses, which turned out to be a great match for me. Segrid was very up front about my horse's history and her likely future needs. Segrid's primary goal was matching me with the right horse. I have seen first hand the care and devotion Segrid gives these horses. Segrid's daughter, Bridgette, is a great riding instructor too. She doesnt just teaches riding lessons but also really teaches good horsemanship. Both Segrid and Bridgette are very honest and hardworking. I have also seen first hand how generous they are towards their clients with their time and knowledge.

Be very aware of this place! They WILL take FULL advantage of someone if they think they can! I advise NOT to use this place or write a contract of your own for them to sign. I would give them “ZERO “ stars if it were possible!!!

Nikki P review of Whispering Meadows is straight up. I also have a horse that "passed through" WM and instead of rehabbing the horse and placing the horse in an appropriate home Ingrid "adopted" the horse to a "friend" who kept the horse in a backyard with no vet supervised rehab. When the horse was no longer dead lame the "friend" sold the horse online as sound for jumping to me and never told me the horse came to her injured or was from Whispering Meadows! Ingrid never followed up on the horse in person after she gave it to her friend and when I figured out the truth, and contacted Ingrid, she had no idea the horse had been sold and was no longer in CA. I did pay for a basic vet exam, but either the horse was drugged that day or was just having a good day as the vet felt the horse was sound. Total scam. We chose to keep the horse as we knew he would face a terrible life if sent back to WM and it seems to be happening to other horses now. We keep him at the flat ( not at all my goal) and consider him a poster child for sleazy horse rescues and have decided to take care of him for life since no one else will. Please report any shady dealings regarding selling off track thoroughbreds to CARMA board. Its really a shame that Whispering Meadows keeps getting away with their scam of placing injured thoroughbreds in jobs the horse is not fit for. Nikki, if you are reading this please contact the board at Carma and share your experience. Whispering Meadows is still featured on the Carma site as a "partner"....

Be sure to demand a vet check if you plan on buying from this place. My friend and I both got horses from Segrid and she was so kind to try and "save our money" and just email us the vet reports from the track. HUGE RED FLAG. She had also wanted the horses moved from the property within the week. Since she seemed so honest, we thought surely she's just being kind, wanting the best for these horses and proceeded with the purchase. Maybe I just got a lemon, but a few behavioral problems uncovered discomfort in her body which made her unsuitable for me. Considering this is a "rescue", I made Segrid aware that I wanted this horse to have a better life and she gladly offered to take her back as a pasture pet. The day I returned the horse, I was told she was originally placed at Whispering Meadows to be on a 6 month layup when I first purchased her, a fact I was NEVER made aware of during or after the sale (and why was a horse meant to be on layup listed for sale anyways?). She then proceeded to reassure me, naming seemingly countless cases of injured horses that she so boldly "rehabbed" when they were weeks away from being put down. My fear that my horse would be flipped was put to rest and I truly felt I did right by my horse by giving her back to Whispering Meadows where they would take time to diagnose what I couldn't afford to and give that horse the life it deserved. Much to my horror, a few weeks later, I saw her listed for sale as a 3' jumper being ridden poorly with her nose tucked into her chest. In the videos posted there was no proof if any fence work, no proof of trail experience or any of these wonderful things they claimed this horse capable of, much less any word of mentioning how more than one vet had told me the horse was not physically capable of being ridden long term, just a 9 second clip of a horse with her nose tucked into her chest and an extremely active tail. It kills me that someone has perfected the art of a lie so perfectly that horses get to pay. This is not to discourage buisness, I'm just hoping my experience will make future buyers more aware than I was. This woman has no issue with lying at the horses expense. BUYER BEWARE.
