I called to make an appointment. I was told they were busy and the earliest date would be 4 weeks away. Not what I was hoping for, but they wanted payment over the phone, today, for an appointment next month. I understand about no shows, but charging me today was to acceptable. I asked if they could just take my card number and if I was a no show, or when I showed up, they could charge me then. They said that was not their policy. Enjoy your policy folks. I found another medical provider that was happy to want my business.

Having a mixed experience with this place… the exam seemed through but the solution is about 2x as expensive as the average is quoted online and no one will send the entire report (including photos) to my vet per their request so I can get the blood work necessary to possibly do the surgery to begin with… I’ve tried for about 8 days to ask about the price and the sending of the information - both easy tasks that I’ve had to chase down and are still unresolved.

My Pug had a melting ulcer. It was scary. Many people said Dr. Silverman was the best. I was treated great. Dr. Silverman has specialized in animal eye surgery longer than any doctor in L.A. my vet told me. 22 years! He is kind, gentle and boy does he know his stuff. Good prices too.

Great specialist! My vet got me in on emergency when my Lhasa had glaucoma. Dr. Silverman treated him right away and got him out of severe pain. This ophthalmologist has hundreds of referring vets after 22 years in practice! Experience speaks for itself. Top of the line.

I'm shocked at how unprofessional treatment we got. The Doctor was rude and unprofessional. At first, after having us wait for an unreasonable amount of time, he refused to see our dog without calming medication (Even though I made it very clear that our dog is large and not people friendly and that it would be necessary to have some sort of medication) 2nd, after talking to him for a good 10 minutes, he suddenly "noticed that I wasn't wearing a mask and he was borderline shouting to only come in with a mask (might I remind you that 45 minutes of waiting and 10 minutes of talking to the Doctor had already passed) It was simply shocking! 3rd, after having taken our dog already three times to Dr. Silverman, it was time for a test/procedure. As our dog is quite large, he asked us to give him a hand. That's when it became pretty clear that he is already getting too old to do his job. He first asked us to wear an N95 mask before entering past the lobby (we obliged), but suddenly he changed his mind requiring us to be vaccinated before we could step into the back to help him via his request. I don't mind the N95 mask request or even his vaccination request; what I have a problem with is that we had been going to his office for almost 2 months and he had more than enough time to tell us about that. He asked us for help and ended up simply canceling the appointment because he wasn't able to take care of our dog! If he couldn't do the test/procedure, he shouldn't have done the checkup and afterward given us the appointment so that he could cancel it abruptly. It is not ok to treat people like that. The only conclusion I can come up with is that he is already too old to be doing this job.

I’ve taken a while to write this review, but I am totally grateful for this facility not only for the doctor but for Anthony, Juan, and Ashley. Thanks to ashley I was able to come in earlier because she squeezed me in as an emergency. My poor puppy was in so much pain & now she is totally fine thank you so much. Overall thank you to the staff here I will be returning !

I had a great experience here with cataract surgery. My vet sent me here immediately when my Boston Terrier Lexi suddenly lost her vision and started walking into walls overnight! Dr. Silverman has been practicing longer than any other eye …

Excellent care! This specialist has hundreds of referring vets after 22 years of practice. 3 vets sent me over when my Poodle needed cataract surgery. Dr. Silverman is known for his skill with this. The work up led to a flawless surgery. He is a true master at this.

Don't bother with this place, the doctor here isn't even a real ophthalmologist. You can look up all certified ophthalmologists on the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists website. Why pay specialist prices for someone who isn't even a specialist? I see Dr. Silverman's very careful not to describe himself as an ophthalmologist in his bio since that'd probably get him into trouble, but this place is purposefully misleading since most people would assume he is one. On top of that, they want you to pay upfront when you book the appointment which is bizarre. You're going to be paying a lot of money anyway so for your pet's sake, find an actual ophthalmologist.

I'm so happy my vet sent me here! Dr. Silverman is a godsend! My puppy went from being blind to seeing in one afternoon. I am so grateful for this specialist.

Excellent treatment! I am grateful that my vet recommended Opthamologist Dr. Silverman, in an emergency. My dog had glaucoma and was losing his vision quickly. I needed someone very experienced and Dr Silverman came highly recommended. He had an established practice for over 25 years and has hundreds of referring vets, lucky for me!

Dr. Silverman brought my dog back to life...seriously. I never write reviews (this is my first one ever), but i feel the need to say something since I relied so much on reviews a few months ago when my dog's health was at stake. I came home one day to find my toy poodle clearly in immense pain with a completely white eyeball. We took her to the vet who then sent us to the ER who said she had an ulcer paired with glaucoma and we needed to see an ophthalmologist ASAP. The first ophthalmologist we saw said there was no hope and her eye needed to be immediately surgically removed. I went to Dr. Silverman for a second opinion, and immediately felt better under his care. He was honest with me and said while my dog will not get her vision back, there were some other solutions we could try before drastically removing her eye. Alas, one of those solutions brought her eye pressure down significantly and week after week I saw improvement in her overall health & happiness. Though at some point removing her eye might be the right thing to do, I trust Dr. Silverman to tell me when that time comes.

My vet sent me here for cataract surgery for my Boston Terrier when he went blind suddenly. Dr. Silverman was excellent. I was glad there was a test to determine if my dog was a candidate for this surgery before going through it. Dr. Silverman was thorough and easy to talk to. Very happy I came here.

I rushed my dog Lexi to the vet when her eye went cloudy. Our vet recommended we see Dr. Silverman right away who is known for cataract surgery in Los Angeles. We were worried it was cataracts but luckily it turned out to be an infection …

I will be forever grateful Dr. Silverman's skill at cataract surgery gave my dog back sight. I have to say I did keep my dog very calm after surgery. This is so important! No head shaking! If this happens it is not the doctors fault! It could ruin the entire surgery. I was so careful my dog Rusty stayed extremely calm - I even got extra tranquilizers so she would not disrupt the doctor's 4 hours of work. There is a reason he is known in Los Angeles. He is the best. The owner does have to work with the doctor however. I thought Rusty was too far gone to be able to be given back sight. But Dr. Silverman is a true miracle worker with this surgery. She now has great sight and I can show her again.

Wow! My neighbor and vet spoke so highly of Dr. Silverman who is known as the best animal cataract surgeon in Southern CA. I had to take my chihuahua here when her eye was infected. I had gotten medication from the other hospital I had gone to -- this doctor only treated the very least he had to and incorporated the meds I had already received. He was kind, funny, took and a lot of time with me. I can see why he has such a great reputation. My friend mentioned when she took her puppy in for surgery he wound up charging her less than the price he initially quoted. This doesn't happen all the time but in her case he didn't have to do all the work he quoted. I couldn't believe a doctor like this. He wouldn't overcharge her! I was very impressed with the staff and facility too. The people were nice and the hospital was clean. I would recommend Complete Animal Eyecare Center to anyone.

Top choice for my vet. My Maltese got in a fight at the dog park with a German Shepherd. I was sure the eye would have to come out. Dr. Silverman saved the eye even though it had ruptured!

Excellent! My vet sent me to Dr. Silverman when my 4 year old Terrier Bentley got cataracts very suddenly. My son found him struggling in the pool - we were sent directly to Dr. Silverman. To say he was wonderful is an understatement. My vet said Dr. Silverman has done this surgery in Los Angeles longer than any other specialist, going on 20 years. Previously he practiced as a general vet for another 20 years so he is very well known. This surgery restores sight to a blind dog and is 95% - 99% effective. Once removed, cataracts can not come back. Luckily there is a test Dr. Silverman did to see if Bentley would be a candidate for cataract surgery so money would not be wasted if he could not restore Bentley's sight. Bentley passed! Surgery was done in one day. Bentley went from blind to seeing by that very afternoon! My son was so happy being that Bentley is his best friend. We opened a Care Credit account in the office which helped with the cost by breaking the cost into payments over 6 months. My family is very happy our vet sent us to Dr. Silverman. The hospital staff is efficient, the technicians are caring and Dr. Silverman is down to earth and loves what he does. Obviously that is why he has such a great reputation.

Excellent care! I found Dr. Silverman to be an extremely ethical and caring eye specialist. He gave me a quote for a surgery which was necessary for my Boston Terrier, Shelby. Imagine my surprise when the price came to half of the quote! The doctor said that a lot of the eye had healed on its own and he didn't want to overcharge me! The facility was clean and the staff understanding and efficient. Dr. Silverman was excellent.

After months of my dog squinting I came to Dr. Silverman on the advice of my vet. It was an ulcer that was getting worse. Dr. S. took care of it easily and nothing else had worked. Very good job.

Sent here for cataract surgery for my Boston Terrier by 3 different vets. Dr. Silverman was great! He is the first choice for many vets in Los Angeles. Excellent doctor. Highly recommend. Truly caring staff. Really went out of their way for me and my dog. I was very impressed.

This practice advertises an emergency number to call after hours. Unfortunately I called the number twice, at 6:30pm and 6:00am with the message that someone would call me back within an hour, but I recieved no return phone call. I called when they opened and the receptionist flatly said they had no appointments for 5 days. I asked if she had any recommendation for opthamology in the area, she said "No, sorry." I explained that I have a peke with an eye that could be either badly infected, or popped out of socket and her attitude was, "So?" Very disappointed. Sometimes it's not the message but how it's delivered. It would have been great to have a caring staff member who could give any recommendation, or at least a little empathy. When you are in a mild panic over an injured pet, the last thing you need is a practice who couldn't care less.

My vet sent me here for cataract surgery. Dr. Silverman has practiced this longer than any other specialist and is known for leading in this field. This eye specialist is down to earth, clearly loves what he does and thinks of his clients. I would send anyone here.

My vet and and several of my friends had raved about Dr. Silverman as an animal ophthalmologist. My Mini-Pin needed cataract surgery. After meeting with this specialist, I was convinced he was the most talented in the Southern California area. The dedication he has for his work is extremely obvious. Dr. Silverman was a regular vet for 22 years and then specialized in ophthalmology. He has been doing nothing else for 2 decades now, and has a deep understanding of animals. It is necessary to leave a deposit to save your space since the surgery requires several hours of the doctor's time. This is standard practice. My Mini-Pin had cataract surgery done in one afternoon and went from being completely blind that morning, bumping into walls, etc. -- to being able to see beautifully that afternoon. It was just overwhelming to watch. As I walked around him in the waiting lounge after surgery, his eyes followed me from side to side. He knew exactly who I was and was overjoyed to see me. His tail could not stop wagging in a new found happiness. Imagine going from completely blind to being fully sighted again! It was fantastic to get my dog back with full vision and recognition. I was given a month of free rechecks as well which I truly appreciated.

Dr. Silverman was the only animal ophthalmologist I could get in touch with on emergency when my little poodle ran into a big dog and her eye was popping out. I am so grateful. There were no other emergency hospitals near me, so the fact that he would drive in himself to look at my dog on a Sunday, and spoke to my vet meant quite a lot to me.

My dog had an ulcer that was not going away. Rather than surgery, Dr. Silverman had me do a series of drops which took time, but healed the condition. It saved my dog's eye. Grateful.
