I've been taking my dog here for about 5 years. It was a great vet until they got bought out by VCA. Now everything cost way more then it used too. Way overpriced! Stay away from anything VCA they only care about money!

I have been using Windsor Animal Hospital since the early 1990's when they were in their old location. Dr. Piper has always been extremely conscientious, compassionate, and well-informed about the health of my dogs. Recently I also had occasion to work with Dr. Sloane as my dog had a series of difficult malignancies to be removed. I found Dr. Sloane's surgical skills and expertise to be quite amazing, and my dog has recovered beautifully. The only other place that could do the surgery would be the animal hospital in Rohnert Park that specializes in such precision surgery but costs thousands more. I am very thankful to Windsor Animal Hospital for their work in keeping my dog healthy and costs down at the same time. Update 12/7/2021: We still love Windsor Animal Hospital but Drs Piper and Sloane have gone on to other pursuits and the business is now part of the VCA family.

They know what they're doing medically, but any person who demands a high fee up front for Veterinary service is not an animal lover. Just because most people in the community can afford to be gouged doesnt mean you should. A homeless man brought in a cat and the staff was RUDE and hesitant to help. It was a simple abscess. Two seconds with a razor and one with a scalpel. Then antibiotics that cost only 4 dollars online. The receptionist was snotty and just held out her hand and said "130 dollars now..." I paid his bill. Then took my dog Butchie outta there and to another vet. I was homeless once. Not cool.

We are changing vets after 30 years, thinking we needed a new vet before our long time favorite retired. We were surprised to see how much we liked this new vet hospital, both the client gals and the vet. The business is owned by a married couple and they also have 2 other vets who work there, and they are open 7 days/week without closing for lunch. This is a one owner business, not part of a corporate emergency 24/7 business, and it felt that way. Genuine care given to the animals and owners alike, with good expertise and service. We are thrilled to find them. 8/2021 Two years later I’ve changed by 5* rating to 4*. I almost want to give it a 3*. After our first time visit 2 years ago we’ve had 2 more annual checkups and vaccines for our 2 cats and 1 dog. Today’s appt took me 2 months to get, with vague scheduling by staff with statements like “we can’t see you until then but we don’t know the exact schedule yet.” Today’s tech was not experienced or of much help. Today’s vet, when asked, said it was his first day there but he has worked at other VCA hospitals. We were never notified that this is now part of a chain of vets, not the family owned business we started with. My dog needs dental wok but I was not able to schedule it with them. Again, “we don’t know the schedule” story. I left feeling frustrated, and wished I had a vet that had personal interest in a relationship with me and my pets.

I took my pug because I was recommended this vet by the emergency doctor. Turned out to be a pain in the butt without an ending. I had to constantly call to try and get a surgery date for my dog. Everytime I called the office staff was clueless and not helpful.

So relieved I was able to get my kitty into a hospital to be seen after trying a dozen other clinics and animal hospitals. Thank you WAH!

We recently moved back to Sonoma County from the East Bay and needed a new Vet for our 5 yr old German Shepherd who suffers from anxiety and has had seizures in the past. Before we could decide on one, he broke a nail on his back paw and had a seizure. Windsor Animal Hospital was WONDERFUL. I especially appreciated all of the time Dr. Piper spent discussing Cooper’s issues and answering all of my questions. Prices were reasonable and he’s doing great. Needless to say we found our Vet!

I came from Fort Bragg and was treated very nicely; everything was explained well. Follow-up the next day was nice as I did have a question about her meds. Would recommend them and wish we lived closer.

We've been going here for the past few years but I've always thought they were over priced. They also did not handle our big dog well either (100lbs+ German Shepherd). The staff is friendly and competent though. I just think we've reached the point where their costs out weigh their convince.

After taking my cat to two other vet's for urinary issues that they just didn't want to seem to address I was grateful for a recommendation to Windsor Animal Vet. I found bloody urine from my cat and they were able to see her that day, even as a new patient. They were great at keeping me informed through the day over what they were doing and what they thought was going on. They kept her stress level in mind and prescribed some medicine that got rid of my kitty's pain and issues. Compared to other pricetags on vet procedures I've paid in the past I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't as costly as I'd expected.

I can't think of anything I would change. I already recommend WAH to anyone who asks me about a local veterinary hospital. As I told Dr. Piper the other day, WAH practices veterinary medicine like I would if I was still in practice. They are all very thoughtful and caring and offer top notch services.

There's a dearth of rabbit savvy vets in the North Bay. I followed Dr. Blount here, after a recommendation. She hasn't disappointed. By tweaking my bunnie's meds for a chronic, then emergency illness, he's finally on the mend, just as I was diognosed with a serious illness. I'm extremely grateful. She's compassionate, listens well to her clients, and is highly skilled.

VERY UNHAPPY WITH THIS PLACE!!! Ridiculous fees that they didn't even quote me on correctly nor gave me all my receipts after. They had me pay $100 deposit right before they were taking my dog, which they said was because I was new. They led me to believe it was for other fees other than what it actually ended up being for. My animal had a major emergency and I only had a certain amount of money which I explained to them. I made sure to keep asking about fees so I could cover it. The bill ended up being more so I had to borrow these funds. Well, after its all said and done I paid an additional amount of money that they never went over with me...it was over $500! If they went over everything I would have at least had the right info. I called the following day to go over things and have them mail me this additinal receipt that apparently they never gave me but they never did. Had to call again 4 days later and talked with a manager who basically made a bunch of excuses instead of apologizing then seeing how that was a problem for people so they could be more mindful. She even made an excuse for not getting this additional receipt, they never gave me there or in the mail 4 days later, saying the person sending it can take a couple days and they have to take it to the mailbox! How silly! I live in the same town as this place! How does it take from Mon to Fri to get it even if they didn't send it for 2 days?! And why wait this long if I'm calling stating that I'm upset about what happened and never got this additional receipt with these fees they never went over me paying? Kind of funny how you don't go over it there and even now can't seem to send me this info and still make excuses! I mean come on. Our pets are our family and I do feel they take advantage of that because you don't want to have your pet in pain and not get the help they need. It was a Sunday and no other place was open around here so I was stuck with either having to wait longer with my pet in pain or have them take care of things and pay but I should have been told all the fees and not be made to feel like there was no other solutions that could be offered if I absolutely couldn't come up with the money. There were a bunch of things I saw when there, even with the vet I had, that I won't go over but I just felt even in the beginning of being there that it just seemed not right and in the end I feel taken advantage of because of my circumstances with my dog. I think it's sad that places are like this especially when there's a lot of people just barely getting by trying to help animals, and you have places like this that will do this and then making excuses for this type of service. It's my fault for ever going here but it's a lesson learned. Need to trust how I feel in the beginning but with my circumstances it was not an ideal situation. There was a couple nice ladies so I'm not saying anything about everyone there and their character but unfortunately certain people and theirsystems/fees they have in place don't help the majority of people just trying to get what they need for our animals.

I go to a vet that I really love. I came here as a backup and I wish I didn't love my current vet so much because this place is simply amazing the staff is so friendly, the doctors are so knowledgeable, everyone made me feel welcome, they took care of my pet they made me feel like family. if you were in the market for a vet and you live in Windsor go here you will not regret it!

HORRIBLE, This example of a veterinarian (Dr.Sloan) puts veterinary medicine to shame. You should be embarrassed of your behavior! We have been clients of theirs for over 5 years. I took my sick kitten to them 3 weeks ago. He was clearly displaying symptoms of being sick. He was immediately treated for an injury even though he had a high fever and was not eating or drinking. I told him we had taken in another rescue that had recently had an upper respiratory infection and he preceded to talk over me and insist it was an injury. My kitten was given an x-ray, sedation, and steroids and sent home($550 later). Within 2 days he had severe pink eye. He was then given the wrong medication and it made his condition worse ($150). At that point, we were a week into him still not feeling good so I then decided to transfer his care to another hospital. His eyes had gotten so bad and painful and it had transferred to the other eye. Not only did the eye medication not help it made it more painful for our kitten. Our new vet recommended we do a test to see what kind of infection he had and (what a surprise! NOT) it came up that he had and Infectious Upper respiratory complex. He was then given the proper eye ointment and antibiotics and is now on the mend finally. Who knows what would have happened if I kept my poor cat in Windsor Animal Hospitals care because he was committing malpractice on my cat at my expense to rack up a bill on something that was not necessary. I totally agree with another yelper about their opinion so I am going to use their words because I could not describe it any better. See below. BEWARE: Dr. Sloan is either negligent or worse, an opportunist. He just wants or needs to make as much money as possible. The type who would take advantage of others who are relying upon and trusting that a Doctor is honest and is doing the ethical thing

Had to go for 1st time, unfortunately for my senior dogs euthanasia. They could not have been more thoughtful & nice during a terrible time. Same day appointment, perfect timing, an area out back to sit with my dog during procedure + the offer of her paw prints. Amazing service, I will be back with my poodle boy & persian cat on the regular for sure.
