I keep all of my show horses at Summerhill. The facility is very clean and is set up very well. There is no barn drama here and that is what I love about this place. Riders from all different disciplines, including trail riders, all get along. Boarders enjoy the well-maintained arenas and the lovely curated trails on the property exclusively for borders.

I have been at Summerhill equestrian Center for 20 years, so that should say it all. My daughter began riding lessons there when she was 12 years old and it has been a wonderful experience. She’s off on her own now, so I and a few horses later, including my old guy who is now 25 years old and has been there practically from the beginning, want to give a great big shout out to Jan Bernards, Jill Warner and Susanna Bjornson. These three ladies are 100% hands-on at Summerhill Equestrian Center. I cannot tell you how many times I have used the daycare services to go on vacation without a worry in the world that my horses will be well taken care of. Summerhill has helped me through a straight up heart wrenching colic that might have gone untreated. They were always around to offer additional care for several weeks after my horses’ hospitalizations. The grounds crew have eyes on the horses and stalls all the time. The facility is always clean, safe and the arenas are groomed daily. I never have to worry about my horse tripping or if the ground is too hard. Thank you to the Summerhill grounds crew. There isn’t a more peaceful, safe and enjoyable place to keep my horses.

I have boarded at Summerhill for more than five years. It is by far the BEST boarding facility in the Santa Clarita Valley. The horses are fed three times per day, the stalls are cleaned at least twice per day, and there are always "eyes" on the horses. The ranch manager and his family live onsite, which is a huge comfort to me. The facilities are wonderful. There are two jumping arenas, a dressage arena, a large turnout, hotwalker, round pens, beautiful barn, paddocks, a newly constructed "mare motel", spacious tack sheds, etc. Everything you expect from a premier boarding and training facility and more. Everything is maintained beautifully and the management is extremely responsive to any potential issue. Twice-yearly vet clinics, regular dental clinics, massage therapy and chiropractor are all available. Betsee Finlee is the dressage trainer. Donna Wilke is the hunter/jumper trainer. Both are well-known and well-liked and have a record of success in the show ring. I challenge you to find comparable prices in the SCV -- the board is unbelievably reasonable. Safety is paramount at Summerhill. Everything that is done, every decision that is made, is made for the safety of the horses and riders, and it shows. And, location, location, location! You ride out of the property into hundreds of acres of Angeles National Forest land and miles and miles of trails. I am not sure which facility "anonymous" was thinking of, but the management has NOT CHANGED for years. Doug and Jan Bernards own Summerhill and their daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Loren Warner, live onsite and assist with management. (Loren is also the best farrier in the world. We're lucky to have his services onsite!) Rudy, the ranch manager, has worked for Summerhill since he was a teenager. I won't give away his age, but let's just say it's been at least a couple of decades. He and his wife and kids live onsite, and they own and ride horses themselves, so they know what to watch for. And, in response to the comment about the hierarchy, I don't have a husband but my horse has one of the largest paddocks! :) I think she must have confused Summerhill with some other facility. We have a great group of boarders. You'll always find a friendly person to chat or ride with if you want.

I've been boarding at Summerhill now for almost 10 years and have nothing but excellent quality of care for next to nothing! Horses health and safety of both horse and rider are a top priority at Summerhill. The footing is nice, they have lighted arenas so you can ride at night. It's a nice all around facility where the horses are relaxed and happy and so are the boarders!

My daughter has been riding at Summerhill for quite awhile now. I have always been impressed by the professionalism in the way the barn is run. The horses and the safety of the riders is clearly the #1 priority. The trainer is wonderful with my daughter- she knows when to push her, and knows when to encourage her. I am amazed at the progress she's made! I also enjoy the gorgeous environment, the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, and can honestly say- my daughter's lessons are the highlight of our week! Thank you!
