Petco Santa Barbara, California

All Petcos that ive been in intown or out of town are clean. The animals aka someones future companion buddy:) Look extremely happy. My heart melts everytime i see all the critters. Especially kittens or puppies. It doesnt matter all animals are adorable as you can see i am an animal person. I wasnt a fan of cats but my critter came into my life and I Love CATS. I spoil my cat anytime:) and i easily forgive him even though he sometimes scratches us:) Sometimes i feel like a human lives in him he really is a great cat and i am so thankful for him. I really liked the dog cookies that we humans could eat they were yummy for whatever reason LOL believe it or not.

Poorly organized. Long lines to checkout

Justin was phenomenal! There was an out of stock item I needed help finding. He took the time to leave his huge load of boxes aside, drop what he was doing and ran in the back to see if they had more stock. They did indeed! This saved my day and the dogs! Thank you Justin ! You rock!

Great people and really they take care to the pet's

They need hand baskets. The cashier said they were taken away because of Covid, but it seems like it’s been long enough and pretty much every other store everywhere still have baskets for use. I waited about 5 minutes for someone to return a cart and then had to ask a cashier for a shopping bag instead. It’s frustrating. I can certainly use a cart IF one is available though I really prefer not to anyway. Not having baskets is not only inconvenient but I’m sure it’s causing the store to lose in sales. Pretty stupid

Great price for the cat food

Didnt carry PetSafe Brand Crystal litter. Doesn't carry dog whistle I needed previous time I came here. Two strikes.

Very limited on fish weak service.

Petco grooming always does a wonderful job. Bianca and her team are always professional and on time.

Great place to pick up healthy treats for your pets. Friendly staff and nice selection.

More expensive than Pet's Mart in Goleta or on Milpas st. Santa Barbara. Not that much of a selection in cat items.

Large selection of food for your pets

Allie, the blonde woman working in the aquarium at Petco, La Cumbre, Santa Barbara, is rude to costumers and cruel with fish. I went to buy five glow fish, and while she was in the process of catching fish, that woman dropped five fish total and caused the death of one. This is what happened, while transferring fish from tank to small plastic recipient first, she dropped one fish to the floor, then a second one, then a third fish. She would quickly pick them up, put them back into the tank and catch a new one. Then she over filled the plastic bag with water and fish already inside and tried to remove some water by tipping the bag straight into the sink, and as a result one fish went down the drain and the other one to the floor. I didn’t know if all of that was lack of training, incompetence, or cruelty on her part, but when she said “I cannot stand them” right after one fish went down the drain, I got the impression that she did all that on purpose just cause she hates her job. Also, it is very common to see fish dead at the bottom of their Petco tanks at this location, obviously malnourished and I have seen even bones because the other fish would start eating the dead fish.

I went for hills Rx food for diabetic dogs. They didn’t have it but told me a place right across the street that had it for like 20$ less than even the online auto delivery services! Pre pandemic I took my beagle there to get groomed and they always did a great job!

Close & convenient to me plus I love all the employees, Deanna is the best groomer my Yorkie ever had!

The employees are very nice and overall everything is easy to find even though there's a lot of product in the store... My only complaint is they need to somehow schedule their lunches better. It feels like whenever I go they are short-staffed because several people go to lunch at the same time.

I have never seen a store so badly managed and little cared for. There was (and i am not exaggerating) more cat food on various carts than on the three isles of shelves. Not the 1st time i've seen that. Let me be clear: this relates to the Santa Barbara store. We have taken to driving to Ventura to buy our cat food because this store is so terrible.

Lots of selection, cute animals and friendly service

This place has been here for years I can't believe it survived through covid. But good for them for keeping all the animals alive and healthy and well most alive and healthy and well and not Getting covid. You go Petco let's see how far that you can Go though.

The staff was, and always is, very helpful over the phone and in the store. I was looking for specialized food for one of my cats, and healthier food for the other two. I was able to find both with the staff's help.

Love this store. Deku always finds something he likes and Daddy always finds good deals on real refrigerated food and new harness

Prices do not match online prices and the store had pallets all over the place making it almost impossible to shop. End up tripping over the pallets.
