The new doctor needs some people skills. Maybe she knows how to deal with animals but not with the paying customer. And they’re looking for you to pay as much as possible. I’m giving 2 and not 1 star only because I feel bad for the office staff. Also, this place sure isn’t doing their part to curb the spread of Covid. I saw 1 out of 6 or 7 staffers wearing a mask. They may not be worried about it but they should think about others. Sure ain’t going back.

Took our dog in a little while back. Wait time was unbelievable, staff seemed agitated when I asked why it was taking so long. After our checkin, and after they tried to push every possible thing we could purchase in our face, I knew we would not be coming back. They'll try to take all they can, and then they won't stop bothering you with texts afterwards (even after trying to opt out, or ask them to stop). Find a better place for you lil buddies Update: Had previously written a review, and am just updating with more bizarre info on Peninsula Pet Clinic. Below is a picture of Dr. Van Volkenburghs response to her hundreds of poor reviews. Her immature response takes no responsibility for her and her staff lack of good service, poor attitudes, dishonestly, and or breaking of covid guidelines. She should do better to address the problems they obviously have, instead of calling her honest reviewers/customers “idiots.” Hearing the horror stories of passing family pets at this clinic is chilling. To see such a ignorant response is even moreso. GO SOMEWHERE SAFE AND PROFESSIONAL! THAT WONT CHARGE AN ARM AND A LEG!

Went in for A foxtail embedded in my dogs paws. They claimed they took care of it, charged me an arm and a leg. Weeks later his paw was oozing and not healing properly, took him to another pet clinic they ended up finding the other half of the foxtail still inside his paw….

I moved to area couple years ago and first went here with my dog. They were ok. I requested some flea/heartworm medication. They said ok and then as they wouldn’t respond to the company I was ordering it from. So I called the vet. They said oh sorry we forgot to do heartworm test, you need to come back. So later I went back and had test. But not after more trouble. They couldn’t find that I had made an appt. Oh wait, they finally found it. Had the test. They said they would call with results that day. Never heard anything. So I drive back up there a few days later and they said oh everything is good. Why No call? This staff is horrible and can’t even take the time to follow through with what they committed to doing, calling the clients with results. They are not very friendly. So finally got medication ordered. Now time for another prescription and again they won’t respond to the company. If they really cared about the animals and the people they would do their job. I will be looking for another vet in the area. Now seeing all these bad reviews I see they really don’t care. I would stay far away from this place.

Hi I'm giving a review here of Peninsula Pet Clinic and I would say that they are one of the most competent veterinary hospitals I've seen anywhere. The doctors that are here are two of the best I've ever seen. The staff they have is tremendous and I know that I've gotten better quality care than at many other veterinary offices and hospitals. Their knowledge base is tremendous and the application to the animals is great. I have not seen anyone better Dr Van Valkenburg and her assistant doctors are tremendous in what they know and how they treat the animals I have some older animals that are acting like they were spry young pups or kittens. I couldn't be more impressed. If anyone has any questions come to me. Their expertise at working with animals is unmatched and the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly and helpful. I wholeheartedly endorse them for any dog or cat you have. They really help them. Thanks Larry .

I went in there to have my puppy examined for mites and they told me she had scabies and the exam was $80, after examining her they came our and asked me to sign a paper to treat her for $350 for scabies and they took her in the back for a half hour and said she would be done getting her injections and treatment and they would treat the other puppy as a precautionary measure they never treated either dog and told me to take my dog and never come back if I didn't have the money upfront and that the $83 was for taking her weight and temp that I had already paid and they wouldn't do anything for my dog now and told the front office not to communicate with me.

This clinic was fabulous. On a Tuesday morning at 11:00 AM, there were no veterinary clinics, including 24 hour emergency clinics, that would see my very sick cat. I called Penninsula in error, thinking I had called my vets office. I was told by the kind person that I spoke with that they would take walk in’s, and keep them in mind if I couldn’t get an appointment. After being turned away from at least five vet clinics stating “they were at capacity,” I took a chance and took my Ginger in to see Dr V. Dr V was honest with me and after hearing that I was considering euthanasia, she assured me that she could get my baby girl better. That was almost four weeks ago and my girl is still with me. Any emergency situation with your pet is not going to be without cost. It’s a hard decision to make with your furry family. I was so touched that I received a follow up call from a staff member inquiring about my Ginger several days after I brought her home. I’ve never had that happen. Dr V will be my veterinarian of choice in the future.

Thank you Dr. V for the talk I really appreciate you, we had a bad situation to deal with you gave me your opinion left the decision to me, I made the right decision because you took the time to listen to me, your time meant a lot to me and my boy ziggy. Thank you too the staff as well so helpful, if you need a great Dr. And staff to deal with your pet this is the place ❤????

I work for an animal hospital and have crossed paths with this place on several occasions. From a professional standpoint I can say the are anything but professional. Client Service lacks the understanding that they are there to service the clients. I've gone as far as attempting to work with the manager for a common goal, to achieve the best medical outcome for our mutual patient and she was also unwilling to cooperate. They are rude, unprofessional and unwilling to assist. I would not recommend any of our clients to this place no matter how much in need they are.

Worst place to take your pet. I have never been more livid about the kind of treatment my pet has received. They statistically charge over for so many tests such as radiographs and then don't tell you the kind of medication your pet needs if you don't buy directly from them. They tried to charge me over $1,000 for treatments like urinalysis, radiographs, and simple labs that would cost not nearly as much if I did them for my own daughters. It is disgusting how they try to benefit from worried pet owners that are uneducated on how to help their dogs. The front desk workers know nothing about how to care for dogs or give you advice on how to help treat them, and the main doctor of the place is terrible. She has tried to guilt trip me multiple times for not wanting have my dog hospitalized (which would cost so much more money I do not have) and not buying medication or treatments for my dog. When you ask why specific procedures need to be done (like an x-ray for a dog with a UTI), they all give vague answers and guilt you about not wanting what's best for your dog, even when they know it's unnecessary. This place has spent too much time mooching money off of people who care about their dogs and are willing to pay for unnecessary treatments, ineffective medication, and utter greed and carelessness. The people who work here should be ashamed of themselves for what they do here.

On August 16th 2020, my 15 year old, 90lb GSD mix, couldn’t stand up on either rear leg and was blind. I went to the only available vet that Sunday, PPC, against my better judgement. I expected to pay more than I should have but never thought that a veterinarian could fail at effectively euthanizing a dog. I was charged $80 for a pre-euthanasia exam, which consisted of nothing, not even getting his weight. I was charged an additional 568.00 for the euthanasia and cremation Dr Van Volkenburgh came in the exam room, gave Oso a sedative, via catheter, then euthanasia. She left the room. My boyfriend and I held Oso and to our horror, Oso was still gasping for air 10 minutes later. I ran out to the lobby and yelled for the Dr. A front desk person went into the back to get Dr Volkenburgh but didn’t return. I went back into the room looked into Oso’s focused eyes and watched him as he gasped, then went limp. The vet never came out from the back. Oso suffered through what should have been a humane end to his life. I will never unsee his suffering at the hands of Volkenburgh.

Wish I could give zero stars. The security guard should have been my first red flag. Wish I read the bad reviews first but my dog was in pain and they take walk in appointments and that's how they get you. They barley even looked at my dog and then gave me a 4800 dollar estimate. Didnt even want to give pain meds. Went to another vet who gave took care of my dog for the fraction of the cost. These people are just about money. Would never go there again!

I'm giving this clinic one star because they did help my cat in an emergency but they took advatange of a hardworking college student who was desperate and didn't want to loose her baby. My cat was throwing up non stop and having diarrhea and this clinic was the only place open because of the pandemic. They said they were going to give him x-rays blood work and a parvo test. I agreed and the Dr. Said they came back negative but that she didn't know what was wrong. They said they had to keep him for three nights at a whopping 4,000. I said yes because I had no choice, and called them every day to check in on my baby. Everytime I called they rehearsed the same script " hes OK, he's not throwing up or having diarrhea and he's stable". They claimed to do ultrasounds and blood work everyday and when I called the Dr. to go over the results, she said it would additional ???????? and that "THE RESULTS ARE VERY DETAILED AND I WOULDNT UNDERSTAND THEM BECAUSE I AM NOT A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL". The Dr. Is very intimidating and gets annoyed when you ask for explanations or detailed questions about your pet. When I asked her for my baby's chance of survival with treatment she responded sarcastically "I DONT HAVE A CRYSTAL BALL AND I AM NOT A MAGICIAN SO I CANT TELL YOU". When it came time to pick him up, they called me and said he took a turn for the worse. I spoke to one of the assistants earlier that day and she said " he's alert, no vomiting and drinking well.Suddenly he had explosive diarrhea and needed to stay overnight for a price around 1800.00. I said I could no longer afford it and they urged me that my cat was still in critical condition and would not have a good chance of survival if he didn't stay. I took him home, gave him the medicine prescribed and he was better. They tried to get me to pay almost 2000.00 more even though my cat was healthy. I had to keep insisting for records of treatment because they were reluctant to give me copies or proof of treatment. To this day, I don't have a proper diagnosis.Dr. Vans professional diagnosis was a flaky gastrointestinal tract. This is coming from a professional Dr. I would highly recommend people to avoid this clinic. Dr. Vans main priority is making profit, not caring about your pets. I would recommend acess emergency clinic because they provide better care and try to keep expenses as fair as possible. After I picked him up, I took my cat to ACESS for a second opinion right after discharge because Dr. Van assured me he was still in critical condition. ACESS gave me a free consult after I mentioned the trauma my baby went through with Peninsila pet clinic, and still not having a proper diagnosis. After careful examination, they didn't want to take him in because they said there was nothing wrong with him. He was alert, hydrated and seemed to have no issues up to today. A professional told us we don't want your money there's nothing wrong with your cat just keep him under observation. They take advantage of hardworking people who truly care about their pets, so avoid this place at all costs if you can.

I called to see if they were Available for walk in and asked on the phone why they had so many bad reviews and the lady laughed on the phone and said maybe you should not listen to the reviews that unhappy ppl write cuz they can’t afford it and actually find out for yourself. I sat inside and they had me wait for 30mins before I felt unwelcome and uncomfortable and left.

Failed screenwriter and self-proclaimed, “pet psychic to the stars,” Dr. Anyes (Agnes Maczek) Van Volkenburgh and her team of dishonest, rude, incompetent, unprofessional lackeys, are doing their best to rob and steal from everyone that steps through their doors. They do not see pets or pet parents, they see DOLLAR SIGNS, plain and simple. The medicine they practice is dangerous, SUB-PAR, and massively overpriced. They do not show one ounce of concern or care about you or your pet. The bottom line for them is to take as much money as they can from anyone who has the misfortune of visiting their clinic. I brought my cat in this weekend, which turned out to be the worst decision I’ve made in a long time. He is an indoor cat, but somehow he fractured his hip. For an x-ray, urinalysis, and pain medication I paid close to $1000. I never even received the urinalysis results. Diana at the front desk told me they hadn’t done the test, but I saw it on my bill. I called to ask them to remove it if they hadn’t done it. Then they said they did do the urinalysis. I asked them to email me the report. The lab noted that my cat’s urine was very cloudy and showed he had proteinuria and I should follow up for a creatinine level test. Why did no one tell me that? They had my money, that’s why. Once they have your money, they no longer care to help you or your pet They also failed to give me any pain medicine for my cat between then and the surgery. Four days away. He was in pain. Dr. V said so. “Of course he’s in pain. His hip is broken,” she said. I asked shouldn’t he have something to keep him comfortable until his surgery? “No,” she said, “I’m a minimalist”. Next, Diana Martinez at the front desk offered that I take out a loan to pay for the surgery they said my cat needed. I asked about the surgeon, but no one would tell me who it was. “Is he good?” I asked. All they said was that they treat the Jonas Brothers dogs. How does that help me? I want to know who will be operating, not about celebrity clientele like Priyanka Chopra, whose name they drop at every opportunity. They wanted $4407 up front, paid in full, for a surgery that is normally $2000. They scheduled it for four days away. I told them I had finally paid off my last credit card and I didn’t want to go into debt. THEY LAUGHED. “Hahahaha that’s life, right? Hahahaha.” Once I spoke to people who have been through the Peninsula Pet Clinic HELL I was advised not to let them operate on my cat. Their surgeon isn’t even board certified. What??? I read countless stories of people who brought their pets there for help and walked out with CREMAINS. They do procedures that are unnecessary. They have ZERO empathy. They laugh in your face. I called to ask them to stop the loan (which they have the power to do). They said ok and to call back the next day when their nightmare of a receptionist is in. Kathleen is one of the most hostile, sarcastic, snotty people I’ve ever met. When i called to ask her to stop the loan she said she would NOT be doing that and HUNG UP ON ME. TWICE. I went in-person to see if we could resolve this situation and Miss Kathleen called LAPD for “trespassing”. She screamed at me so loud over the phone and in person that I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. She called me unstable for asking why they refused to stop processing the loan they had me take out. They kept the all the money. The money they did NOTHING to earn. $4407. The LAPD officers were extremely helpful to me and told me to take this veterinarian to court. I was hoping she would cancel the loan for A SURGERY MY CAT DID NOT HAVE but if she wants to do this the hard way, then that is fine by me. Please tell every single person you know about this unethical, criminal veterinarian practice. Warn your friends. Keep your animals far away from them. Call your lawyer if they have stolen from you or harmed your pet. Make sure no one else gets the PPC Treatment. Find a good vet that actually loves animals and people. There are so many other options than the criminal enterprise at PENINSULA PET CLINIC.

They have a sassy girl answering the phone/questions. If you're not feeling good because your dog is dying, dust yourself up and get right before calling. It's $120 consultation before 5pm and it goes up to $200 after 5pm and before 8pm. it's like they know most of us are out of work at 5pm and can only go after.
