I recently moved to San Mateo and super happy to find this new Vet location for my two babies ???? ???? Very professional stuff and super kind. Dr Bolich gave me some brilliant recommendations for my cats better care and maintaining healthy weight. Thank you so much ????

It has taken me a week before I could post this review. Short and simple ..i would NEVER take my pet here again. Cold , rude.. Just horrible experience.

Absolutely horrible experience, the doctor is rude, the front desk gives incorrect information. A regular exam and 2 vaccines took us nearly 2 hours . Defiantly won’t come back.

I have a careclub membership of this hospital but I never get a good service from them. I want to schedule an neuter surgery from march this year, then I got pushed to Oct because of the COVID things. i understand that but then, they said my cat is sick they can't do the surgery that day. No one told me that before when i did the blood test. Then they told me the next avail date is next March which is totally unacceptable to me. Because I am a club member, the surgery fee is covered. But it will expired next year March. That means I not only need to wait but also have to pay for it myself for that surgery. I think they are trying to get more money as they can from you. They don't care about your pet at all. My cat is suffering because of his rut, but they don't care, they just told me to wait and wait until my careclub membership expired.

I used to come here a lot. I came in to get Next Guard for my dog, but they wouldn't let me get it without a "checkup" first. So I did that, but then they wouldn't let me get the Next Guard unless I did a heartworm test, and they tried to charge me $300 for the test! I ended up leaving with nothing but I still had to pay $80 for the "checkup." I went to a different vet and everything was way cheaper, and the heartworm test was only $68 and it was not required to get the Next Guard prescription. This happened a few months ago. Anyway. I am not coming back here ever.

Love this place! I can't express how much appreciation I have for these guys, from having a compassionate crew that allows for time needed with our beloved seniors to all the necessities for our new family members! Our Primary is Dr. Bolich, she is awesome, so knowledgeable on the best recommendations for the patient while giving options that will best fit the family.

They took my cat in to the ER and charged up 6k without diagnostic and it overall felt like they were trying to take our money and not actually figure things out. We also went here to pick up our cat when they called us to and they were not ready and had to come back 3h later. Really bad customer service at the front door, Wouldn’t be coming here again.

We moved from the East coast with three rescued St Bernards and two rescued cats. Got a reference from a neighbor with a big dog to see Dr Bolich for our vet needs. We were concerned as we left an awesome Vet in PA, over the last seven years we have had nothing but AWESOME care from Dr Bolich and the staff. We have since lost two of the Saints, but they were cared for by VCA Bayshore as if they were their own.We have rescued a Labra-dane and she is doing really well under Dr B's care. Can not say enough good things about this facility and ALL the staff.

Each time I need to order flea medications they insist that I have to bring my healthy cat in for an exam. They told me the next available appt is in 3 weeks. I agreed to make an appointment but they refuse to sell me flea meds until then. I will be choosing a new vet. Very disappointed in their service.

Place was close, had good scheduling, they had a coupon for the first visit. They didn't allow us to stay with our pet during the exam. The vet told us they heard a "gallop" in our pet's heart rythm: "Well it's probably not a heart mumur but we should do hundreds of dollars in testing because I'm having trouble auscultating a heart rate and getting a second opinion from literally anyone else in the building is much less profitable than running expensive lab work" Paraphrasing here, but I'm never coming back.

We have always had an amazing experience which has not changed since COVID. The protocols they put in place make me feel good about the amazing care our pets continue to receive. We love Dr Bolich and the staff!! Also super helpful in helping us get the special dog food one of our dog needs as our direct ship suddenly stopped. We feel that they are very attentive to our and our pets needs.

We have been taking all four of our animals to Dr. Bolich for many years. She has been very thorough and detailed in explaining the treatments and procedures. Her follow up after a visit are always appreciated. The staff have always been kind to us and our animals. We always refer friends to VCA Bayshore who are looking for a vet. Thank you for treating our pets as if they were your own!

We didn’t realize how poor the service was here until we went somewhere else. The vet was very cold and didn’t seem interested in doing her job. She was definitely more lively in describing the pet insurance than checking our pet. She also missed the fact that our cat has a heart murmur that another vet found within minutes of checking her. Save your time, money and pet and go somewhere else.

VCA was great. Dava, Dr.Iva and the whole staff took great care of my cat Bob with a injured front paw. They were professional and very gentle with Bob. My cat is comfortably recovering now. Bob says " thank you VCA,????????". They were open Sunday too which saved us. I highly recommend VCA pet hospital. Thank you VCA from the Bacon family.

When your furry child of over 11 years falls ill & has never before, you *need* TLC, ownership (being treated as you’d if the pet were yours) & with the skill, experience, compassion & empathy warranted in such cases. Drs Bolich & Chatcuff, all the nurses & vet techs, frontline team Melissa & Abby, are truly exceptional human beings & professionals. This was so very scary for us & at a rather tender time in life, even more so. Thank you, Team VCA Bayside & San Carlos — you rock!!❤️????????

Cannot speak about the medical staff, but the front desk seems clueless. I called and asked them if they had a cardiologist on staff, I was told that they did. I set an appointment to bring my cat in to see their cardiologist. I took the day off, and when I took my cat in I was told that they did not have my appointment on file and that they DID NOT even have a cardiologist on staff! WTF? Never coming back here again, if they can't even answer a simple question and set an appointment, who knows what else they could screw up. I should send THEM a bill for $800 to make up for the day I took off for no reason. I'll take my cat to the VCA in SF or San Leandro before I bring her here---and if there is an emergency I will take her to Sage in Redwood City, its the same distance from my house. I even sent them an e-mail asking why this happened...never heard back!

We’ve had several vets throughout the Bay Area for both basic and specialty dog care. This particular group is just awful. Their individual doctors range in abilities, but our most recent seemed incompetent, trying to prescribe us medicine that would have harmed him due to prior (known to her) conditions. We had to intervene to course correct. Nothing has been easy here. Expect to have to call several times to get a prescription filled, and expect to be told frequently that you can’t be helped for 24-48 hours (they are often not staffed by docs over weekends, making their emergency care claims invalid). The front desk staff is amazingly unhelpful, the care is dangerous and the prices are equally as high as better care centers. Save yourself the time and aggravation and go literally anywhere else.

Reasonable pricing, very sweet staff, nice email reminders and the usual up sells. Open 7 days with good hours, very convenient. Used for emergencies and regular vet care, we use another business in the same building for pet sitting and grooming.

They charge me for an general exam I didn't ask. I just want the vaccines but they did another thing without asking. I felt like they are interested just in the money and not in the animals. Update 9-23-18 I came again because my cat has an injury infected. They were totally not care about my cat, they gave me an appointment to 10 days later and told me I can go to the emergency that is next their local. On that emergency they didn't want to attend my cat because he seems not I'm danger, they told me if he gets worse bring him again. I was sure his injury does not look good so I went to another place (SAGE, and I totally recommend this place!). My cat was with a really bad infected injury and needs antibiotics immediately. Really upset about the quality professional of VCA!

Fantastic vet. Went to the emergency care here and the vet was thorough, very good at problem solving and looking at the whole picture to diagnose the issue. Very high quality care.
