If you have the time to drive to SAGE in Redwood City or Adobe in Palo Alto, I would. We have given this vet multiple chances to do better and each time we are disappointed. We are often met with hostility when asking basic questions. When I called about my dogs medications that were prescribed from their location they told to call poison control... Concerning medications he already takes. They left us in a florescent box of a room for 2.5 hours after my dog has 4 seizures and then when a doctor did finally arrive she shamed me for not taking care of my dog properly. We've gone to get medications and when asked why they were being given to us in a different form they sighed and said "my tech did it" and then refused to give us what we were used to. We will only ever go here in cases of serious emergency because it is 1 minute from our house. But we avoid it at all costs in any other situation.

My 9 month old puppy ???? was ran over by a car and drug. I went agenst the reviews due to daily city emergency was closed. I bring her to this clinic to be charged $2,000.00 for comfort (drugs) and watching her. The only thing they did that i couldn't do was take multiple X-rays when they could have done the whole body, ultra sound or CT scan. They held her trying to milk more money out of me. I demanded they release my puppy when they said "she hasn't been discharge yet, and doesn't have her medication". I waited two hours. I requested medication to help her sleep as well as sedate her due to her age. After paying the money and waiting two hours, I requested to speak with the DVM on dut. I was called while waiting in the car by DVM Bonnie Yoffe and was told that she had prescribed trazadone and nothing for pain as they had put on a fetinal patch and been injecting methadone. The patch would last until Wednesday from Saturday. I then explained that I had personal experience with these medications first hand and she said " I'd hate to see the company you keep "! I didn't explain to her that I am a cancer survioure after 7 surgeries followed by 6 weeks of radiation treatment. She hung up on me and when I went in she said over the intercom "I'm calling 911". I wouldn't leave until I had her name. DVM Lillian Alfaro also worked on her. When she was brought out she had a cone on her neck and was told that it was to prevent her from locking the antibiotics ointment that has been being applied. However when I visited her earlier that morning it was not on and no signs of an application of any ointment. I was not told about the fractured right shoulder and was rushed off with intimidation of "911". I reco.end SAGE VET EMRGNCY as there were multiple dog parents outside complaining about the delay and over price of lack of treatment. I spent and hour writing ✍ this review. DONT DO IT COMFORT YOUR COMPAION AND WAIT FOR A REAL VET. I am following up with a complaint to the board that issued the license to practice.

Was unfortunate enough to be placed on call with what has to be the rudest vet I've ever met. Didn't end up going because just the interaction of calling to see if they had space put me off. They definitely need to work on their people skills. Happy holidays to everyone but these people.

This place has the worst customer service. My dog was attacked and she was bleeding out. Instead of helping me and my dog they rudely turned me away. Saying we are full and you should have called before hand. It's a 24hr emergency care, I shouldnt have to call. And if you are full you could tell your stressed out animal owners nicely that you are full. Do not recommend this place. Go to Lenity next store instead!

This is a horrible horrible place with money hungry doctors. My dog was vomiting so I brought her in even though my online vet service told me that she is probably fine and I could wait until the morning to see if she needs medical attention. Being a first time dog parent I was terrified of her vomiting so I decided to get her seen, but I was soon more terrified by this hospital. After almost 2 hours waiting in the car they told me that they want to do a series of tests like x-ray even though she seemed very active, which will cost me about $1500. When I said no to this obvious scam, the “doctor” was very condescending and called me dumb. I took her to her usual vet clinic in the morning and was sent home with $20 medicine and my puppy is very healthy and happy. So again, horrible place.

Thankfully, I haven't had too many experiences with Emergency Vet Clinics, but I have to say how disappointed I was with the experience I had with North Peninsula Vet Clinic. I had the not so great pleasure to have Dr. Lilian Alfaro treat my dog when he was brought in by my dogsitter when I was out of town. I had to talk to her via the phone and honestly I was surprised how completely rude and condescending she was to me. She doesn't know me and I brought my dog in because he was hurting and needed medical attention immediately and I wasn't able to get in with my regular vet. After only a few short minutes on the phone, she made me feel that I was neglecting my dog and I should be blamed for his injury. I was completely thrown off guard, I would think that me bringing my injured pet into their "Emergency" clinic meant that I cared and want them to take care of him immediately. In the end, it was anything super serious that antibiotics couldn't fix, Thank Goodness, but I have never had such a horrible experience with a vets office. You think they would be more caring and thoughtful at such a place. If I can help it, me and my dog will not be going back.

My dog got fleas from this clinic. She was perfectly ok before going here for treating another issue. Also, their timings are wildly off. We checked on our dogs' status multiple times due to lack of communication. Their time estimates were always way too optimistic and unrealistic; It took ~3-4 hours to get our dog treated for a mild/moderate issue. Cost ~$800

Our family was visiting from Idaho and our 12 years old miniature Schnauzer, Tanto has a recurring bladder stone issue. Due to the stress from the long travel (and other unknown reasons), his stones dislodged from the bladder wall and partially blocked his urethra. We found his urine was pink in Monday morning when every vet in the valley was busy. Luckily we had North Peninsula Vet, they acknowledged the life-threatening urgency of the situation and admitted Tanto immediately. Dr. Alfarro gave us a quick assessment of the situation within the hour dropping off Tanto and after the x-ray analysis. She then reached out to a colleague in UC Davis specialized in the urinary science to see if there are alternative proposal and presented to us 3 options. She is very thorough and patient to answer all our questions (yes, we researched this topics so tons of questions for her) and selected the least intrusive techniques. Dr. Alfarro successfully performed a bladder backflush and removed the blockage. Knowing our travel plans, she even taken care of the prescriptions by finding the most accessible option. She communicated constantly throughout the difficult day and procedures. Her thoroughness, patience and technique saved Tanto from yet another bladder stones removal surgery. Thank you and our family is forever in debt for the care we received! The rest of the supporting staff from check-ins, vet tech and payment were very professional. I understand not everyone visiting an emergency vet clinic has the same happy results as ours, but I can assure you the staff is professional and doing whatever they can to save lives.

I went today and they didn't check my cat. They told me just to take an appointment with his primary vet and if he was not concsius take him again. At the end I went to SAGE where they take care of my cat. He has an infected injury and he needed immediate antibiotics. I am glad I don't wait until he was not concsius!

It’s a Mcdonalds of veterinaries, you drop off your pet in a window and you pick up the ashes when they are done, no longer is there a human aspect to it. Did not allow to see our recently deceased family member. This is a leftist veterinary still clinging onto the pandemic when we are all vaccinated with readily available vaccine cards on hand - Dismissing the vaccines as not efficacious despite the research of the CDC and the millions of people already vaccinated. leftist, woke liberals who do not want to get back to a sense of normalcy.

I’ve had to take my cat here twice over the last year because my regular vet could not get him in. He needed to be seen for puncture wounds sustained in a cat fight. The process now of dropping off, waiting or leaving and then coming back for your animal is very inconsistent. The vet and staff are stretched way too thin. I was asked to pay for services when I hadn’t even spoken to the vet or knew the final decision on what the course of treatment was for the cat. Found that awkward and uncomfortable. I dropped my cat off at 12:40 and didn’t pick him up until 5:40 PM on Friday. After waiting an hour and a half outside with no phone call or insight as to how long they would have the cat, I went home for the afternoon until I called back 2 to 3 hours later to see where things stood. I had to keep reaching to them as far as updates.

I'm pretty tired at this point, don't remember literally any of the team names that helped me today... but they all did great and were very personable. My kitty was immediately rushed inside to assess the level of emergency and cared for him accordingly. Nice people, proper care, helpful advice. Continuous support via phone. Vet care is always costly, but pretty sure the price was good as well.

Not the best service. Staff are slow and impatient. I personally seen an employee being so insensitive and rude while a lady was hysterical because they advised to put her dog down. I was disgusted as I waited for my dog to be taken in. I received a call saying my dog was ready but took 45 + minutes to bring him out. This isn't the best place but it's ok if your in a pinch.

WORST experience I have every encountered at a Vet. RUDE staff that could care less about your pet. They will lie and tell you they contacted with test results when they did not even return my call when I called the next day to tell them my dog was worse. 700.00, zero answers. If you have a choice- PLEASE go elsewhere. I recommend the vet ER in Redwood City. It is stressful enough to have a sick pup- save yourself the extra stress of attitudes and apathy.

My Tequila was having a FUO of 106.2F on Friday midnight I was so desperate and took her to this emergency hospital, I was checked in immediately (guess I was lucky it wasn’t too busy that time) and I was asked to wait in my car as they were doing Covid precautions. About 30 minutes later Dr. Susan called me and went through the physical examination they did on Tequila and the treatment plans, then they gave me a quote, I paid a deposit and my baby was kept there for the night under observation. They contacted me early in the morning to let me know that my baby’s temperature went down and her blood and urine work all look normal but would like to keep her there for a few more hours since the cause is still unknown and in case her temperature spikes again. I waited anxiously for a day and called in the afternoon again to check, a nurse (sorry I didn’t remember your name) picked up and explained me that Tequila’s temperature went up again at noon so she’s given more drugs and still under IV fluid and observation???? I heard there’re other dogs barking in the background and I was worried that my super introvert baby would stress out so I asked if I can take my kitty home and monitoring her myself, Dr. Susan contacted me again at night and talked to me about the concerns, prescribed meds and in home care tips, then I headed down to pick up my baby! When we got home she’s still a bit under the weather but already better than the day before! I had copies of all her tests and treatments and hospitalization logs, from reading those I could tell my baby had really been taken good care of I almost cried, although I hope Tequila will never have to go through these again but if any I would definitely come to this place again and I recommend it to everyone. The bill might be pricy but it’s a emergency place and whatever it takes to save our babies isn’t it? Tequila is doing much better now back to her eating/drinking and feisty self, shout out to the angels who guarded her!!! ❤️

The lack of urgency at this emergency clinic was enough to make me stay away and likely saved me from paying them a bunch of money. My dog was vomiting after a camping trip, I was afraid she had ingested something toxic and/or was maybe dehydrated. I filled out paperwork and was told there was a long line and it would be a couple hours, I said no worries I’ll be back and asked if I would receive a phone call when they’re ready to see my dog in case I’m not right in front of the door at that moment, and the woman who had me fill out paperwork said yes they would. I ran home and came back well before the couple hours was up, walked around outside a bit and was asked once by a vet tech what my dog’s name was again. I remained within the parking lot area of the building and continued checking my phone in case they called while I was walking around. In the end I waited for 4 hours before I finally called to find out where I might stand in line. I was put on hold and then told they had already come out to get us twice and we weren’t there so they moved on down the line, I explained that I had been told I would receive a phone call and I had been waiting for 4 hours now, she doubled down on her previous response, completely avoiding my statement and she said in a miffed tone that we’d be seen after they were finished with whomever they were currently with. This was all extremely frustrating as my dog, who wasn’t feeling well, and I had spent all afternoon walking up and down the street in front of the building and sitting in the car waiting to be brought in. After some time passes I see a vet tech come out and look around for someone so I ask if he’s looking for my dog, he says no. I left at this point and I’m ultimately glad I did as I’m sure they would have ended up trying to charge me an arm and a leg. I felt that it was extremely unprofessional to not perform a very simple step such as giving a client at least 1 phone call in an attempt make sure this dog is able to be seen in a potential emergency situation; especially during these times when we all must wait outside instead of in a waiting room. My phone number was right on the paperwork I filled out. My dog seems to be feeling better on her own, she has not vomited again today thankfully and I’ve been treating her upset stomach at home. Signs from the universe kept my wallet happy. ✌????

Update: it's been 3 weeks. I was told by the tech that someone would call me with the results the next day when I visited, and the tech would give me a run down of what procedures were done. During check out, I wasn't given any results nor a write up about what produces were done. Now, it's been 3 weeks and they haven't given me a call back about the results of her xray, nor called me to detail what procedures were done! Who knows if they even did the x-ray. I have called multiple times since the visit 3 weeks ago and they haven't answered. Oh well. I went to Sage in Redwood City and they took care of my cat, would highly recommend heading there or another place. There is no sense of urgency or any communication from them. I left my cat there for a wound and they had her for twelve hours. No one answered my phone calls or voice mail so I couldn't get an update on her. I was only called to be billed and even then, the tech wouldn't give me an update. I was told at 5PM that I could pick her up soon. I had to drive down after being worried sick at midnight to knock on the door and request an update in person. Even then, no one gave me a straight answer or an update for half an hour. The tech didn't explain the medications or what procedures were done clearly and was incredibly rude and short with me. They hastily shaved her belly for the wound, however did not clean up the shaved fur, so she was tossed in her carrier with a bunch of wet and nasty fur on her. I wish we were treated with more urgency and there was better communication. I will find another emergency vet.

It's an E.R. Don't expect everyone to help you immidietly. it's stressfull working there, and there are probably animals in worse condition.

My cat was sick and they hospitalized her without knowing the cause. She stayed in the hospital for 2 days and didn't eat anything, they said it's normal for cats. On the third day morning my cat died, and they still don't know what …

Horrible customer service, our pet passed away and we called to let them know what we wanted on the urn, but they were so cold hearted about it and acted like they were doing us a favor by taking down the inscription. We got put on hold several times while they "looked for paper". I mean we say that our pet died and their response is "ok cool! Please hold" what the hell!!! Wouldn't trust them with my poor boy now that he's dead, let alone any of my remaining pets STAY AWAY THEY DONT CARE

My cat got in a cat fight and had a bad wound. It was night time and super late. The vets there were professional and kind. They are very responsible of social distance and didn't let us in, and when my cat came back, it looked like his wound got worse! It was more swollen than before, and was bleeding. After a few days, it's completely healed, and not swollen. Glad we went there, our cat is completely healthy now! 5 stars!

Excellent service. The nurses and Dr gave us great advice for a gut wrenching situation when we thought my dog swallowed a big bone. They were professional and kind and tried to help us make the most cost effective decision.

It's taking me two months to write this review because I wanted to make sure I'm being fair and not because of my grief about the loss of my dog. On the evening April 8th, 2019, I took my dog back to the emergency clinic - AFTER having been there earlier that morning. My dog wasn't doing well and I took her back late that evening. They put us in the waiting room and we waited and waited... NOBODY came in to check on us and I had to go out ask for a blanket for my dog. Meanwhile, my baby is suffering in pain and totally dehydrated. I was told there was only one doctor on duty and she was trying to save another dog's life. Not to say the other dog's life matters less but really? An emergency clinic that charges $$$$$ for everything and they can't afford to have another assistant to come check on my dog???? Meanwhile, my dog is slowly dying. By the time the doctor was finally done saving the other dog, my dog is almost gone. By this time, they wanted to do more X-ray and more testes at that point? My dog died that morning around 5 a.m. I was in so much grief and pain that I couldn't even think about what she had to endure. Someone could have checked on her and realizing she needed to be on IV Fluid ASAP. But NOBODY, absolutely NOBODY came in to check on her!! After spending nearly $3000, I basically brought my dog to died in that cold table in the waiting room. The doctor wasn't warm. She was no-none sense about it. I suppose she sees dying dogs more often than we know? Two months after my dog's passing, I am still very very angry about this whole experience. With that being said, I must say the most of the staffs were very kind in dealing with my loss. The lady who was on night shift that night made sure we got two paw prints for us. They have very good people working there but I do not approve how they could just have one doctor on staff at night and no one is qualify to put an IV back up to ease an animal's suffering? Not sure when I'll be ready to have a dog again. I will never trust a place that only has one doctor on call at night.

I was in the Bay Area with both my kitties in the process of moving to Nevada. My baby boy Eddie wasn't doing so well he was crying in pain and I knew it was his time and he needed to be put out of his misery it was one of the hardest decisions I had to make but hearing him cry and pain was killing me. I called and they told me to go ahead and bring him in. It was one of the hardest things I had to do but with my mom by my side. The best part was three maybe four weeks later moved into my new place in Nevada and with my remaining kitty cat I received the package from them with a paw print in a heart with Eddie's name written on it and it brought me to tears it was so amazing and so wonderful to receive this from them they are a very dedicated Veterinarian Hospital and I would recommend them to anybody any day. THANK YOU FOR GIVING ME A PIECE OF MY BABY BOY

On both of my unfortunate occasions of needing a vet after-hours, I was thankful this hospital was there for me and my dogs. My recent visit was a great experience and I appreciate everything the vet tech/front desk staff did for my dog and my peace of mind. Thank you!

I’m retracting my previous review they called me back after my negative review and explained everything I wrote that in the heat of the moment upset about my situation the fact that they Care enough to respond personally shows a lot about someone’s character Trisha was very calm and polite about the whole situation even though I wasn’t in my review I would definitely come back if I need any other treatments for my animals the callback I got about review was first to check and make sure my dog was doing okay and I really appreciate that thank you
