I give this place 3 out of 5. The bay area bird hospital is in a convenient location and easy to find. It is very clean too. The staff: The 35 year old secretary with the short hair from Hunters Point is the nice secretary, if she's there then you will get good service and she is friendly. She loves her job and it shows in her work. She has impeccable work ethic. The younger secretary with the long hair is rude and unprofessional and she's been working there the longest, but she's always unnecessarily rude. She's been rude since 2019 and now it's 2022. She always has a dour expression on her face and a negative Eeyore vibe. The doctor: Dr. Marcucci is knowledgeable, professional, and cares about her patients the animals. She's a good veterinarian. She rushes through appointments because she's the only avian vet in the bay area unless you drive to down to Redwood City, so she knows basic economics and the demand for an avian vet is high. Thus she can rush an appointment because there's no one else to provide service to your beloved feathered companion. You show early or on time, and the appointment is still rushed. Should you visit this veterinarian? Yes, you should visit.

I Highly DO NOT Recommend Dr. MARCUCCI if your pet is a Bearded Dragon. I originally went to see this doctor because my Beardie wasn't really eating much and I felt he was having shedding issues. After being seen by the doctor, since the very first day the vibe I received from her was not too pleasant. I felt rushed, she seemed uninterested about what I was saying, I tried to show my terrarium setup for any possible suggestions regarding proper lighting but she didn't care to see it. I took a few notes in regards to what she was saying and when I didn't understand her and asked her to clarify she gave me a look of frustration and made me feel stupid for not understanding her, more than once. I felt no compassion at all from her. But for my Beardies sake I held back my tongue. Every time I saw the doctor she always seemed in a rush and limited with time. I did not like the way she spoke to her employees either but I know that's irrelevant. Overall her professionalism and interaction with clients and employees was not positive. I spent over $600. I was led to believe that my Beardie was not well and needed all these procedures. Right away from the first visit she suggested I syringe feed him, then suggested needle antibiotics after receiving his blood work results and also suggested xrays and a fecal sample. After receiving the xrays she decided not to go through with the needle antibiotics and suggested an ultrasound. She then mentioned that depending on the ultrasound he may need surgery. Everything just kept leading to more and more tests procedures etc. Something was telling me to get a 2nd opinion because it seemed as though she just wanted to keep charging me for procedures that maybe my Beardie didn't really need. I decided to inform the vet that I was going to hold off on the ultra sound. I requested all of my Beardies diagnostics and decided to go to another veterinary hospital. Sure enough after seeing this highly recommended Doctor just one visit he assured me I had nothing to worry or stress about. He stated that I was doing a great job with my Beardie and that he was very alert and overall very healthy nothing concerning. Even after reviewing all of the diagnostics from the previous doctor he said that some of the tests were unnecessary and that I did not even need to syringe feed him!! He said all of the results seen in the diagnostics were normal nothing too concerning!!! Then ended my visit with him stating that many Beardies experience Brumation during this time of the year it is very normal for them to act in this manner!!!!! I was very hurt and upset and felt that I had been taken advantage of. A vet is supposed to know simple things such as Brumation!!! There was no need for me to have put my Beardie through everything I did. Especially force feeding him through a syringe which I could tell was not having a positive outcome. I do not want anyone else to go through this and this is why I have chosen to share my experience.

They have helped me with my old bird. They helped me prolong his life a whole year. This most recent visit was for my recently adopted bird for a basic check up. My new bird is not hand tame yet and they handled him as the pros they are. Never once was I concerned he'd fly away.

Dr was great! My Eclectus who hates being handled didn't object to handling. Dr was very informative and professional in handling my bird. It's far but I will return for future needs

In 2014 my Dusty headed conure was attended to by veterinarian Dr. Dustin it was my first visit. My bird was not well and I was referred to go to Bay Area Bird because my regular veterinarians at All Pets Hospital was all out. It was at Bay Area that my Bird passed away. 2021 I now have another Conure same type been with me 5 years his condition is he is without feathers from plucking. I have try everything spend money I really could not afford, I feel my bird need to see a avian veterinarian but I have a deep fear of returning to Bay Area Bird because my last bird passed away there. The staff and Dr. Dustin was kind and understanding at the time, but my fear of bringing this bird there to be check is deep.

Took my daughter's pet rat to get checked out and hopefully the prognosis is good, possibly though she's sick.

Terrible place and even worse with COVID restrictions, you can't go in with your very fragile pets. These aren't dogs or cats where it can be evident there may be an issue. I wouldn't recommend this 'vet' to a dead worm on the pavement after a rainstorm! Pet owners beware!

First impression is important and this place gave me a bad impression. The Male receptionist was rude and my mom was asking me something and he interrupted us. I will update soon. But I dont recomend this place.

First visit to a vet and me and my bearded dragon Zilla both came out happy! From the receptionist and helpers, to the doctor, overall experience was great and I will be going back (hopefully not soon) if needed. Thank you!

Please read all the reviews here about this place before you take your beloved birds here. They are incredibly rude, Glenn the male receptionist was also incredibly rude to me. Getting snippy and disrespectful for merely asking simple questions. I was so offended I ask to speak to a manager about his behavior, and Glenn himself told me, "you know what it's not gonna happen. We don't want you as a client", and hung up on me. So because I felt I was spoken to rudely, and wanted to let the manager know about, I am suddenly told I can't bring my bird to them for help if I need it. Doesn't sound like a very loving or good place at all. Glenn was an absolute nightmare on the phone, as other people have mentioned here on google since more than a year ago. I tried to call back and let the manager know what was happening and rude Glenn continued to just yell at me and then hangup the phone. Have reached out to the doctor and other staff about the issue and they've all been rude. This place in my opinion is completely unprofessional and has super bad energy. Imagine bringing your bird here for help and they're rude to you like this, only to have your bird die the next day!!! It's happened to others in this thread. Even if you poor bird is sick or God forbid about to die, you don't want it to have to suffer more in the hands of these extremely uncaring people. I am surprised they're even a functioning business. Please for the love of God don't bring any cute little birds here, or other critters. If they are this rude and impatient over the phone and towards their fellow people, just imagine how they'd be to your animal behind closed doors. I hate this place and I hope they go out of business.

Do not bring your rabbits here. Doctor was very condescending and seemed to be trying to scare me into different types of labs or treatments...it was seriously one thing after another, even though she said they both were healthy. I have had rabbits for over 7 years and have never had a veterinarian act this way. She also handled the rabbits very roughly, again, I have been to vet appointments for 7 years and this stood out to me as I've never seen them handled this way. The sweet young vet tech didn't seem too comfortable or familiar with handling rabbits. They were almost dropped if I hadn't intervened, which is ok because bunnies do not like to be picked up and it happens. This could be she is just new and learning or they don't get many at the clinic. As others have stated we came here because they are supposedly bunny/exotic mammal experts, it did not seem like it. The guy at the front desk was very pleasant but I was shaking and called my husband in tears when I left.

Glenn the receptionist was rude about an inquiries on 1. how long in advance to make an appointment 2. whether or not they have the staff able perform a specific procedure on my pet. He said bring the bird in to find out. This clinic is only concerned with money than the welfare of a pet. These are basic questions one can answer without the $75 visit because every other clinic in the area has been able to answer these questions over the phone prior to coming in.

The Veterinarian staff here are beautiful and compassionate people we had the misfortune of having to put a pet down and I could not have asked for a better experience even though putting an animal down is the worst feeling ever. They allowed us to sit with our animal after the dose was administered and stay in a private room with her to say our goodbyes. I am grateful for a wonderful place like this. If your looking for compassion this is the place for you. The prices are what you would expect and they will work with you if needed to help you afford your animal's treatment. Five ????'s for this place.!

I found this place on Google because my baby (bunny) was sick and she wasn't eating. I got worried and rushed her to this place. Both of the veternarians are awesome with her and they do specialize bunnies. I would recommend this place to an "EXOCTIC" animals. It may cost you, but it is TOTALLY WORTH IT

When my cockatiel got sick, we took him to Bay Area Bird Hospital. I had a bad feeling about this place since the moment I walked in. The receptionist was incredibly rude and talked to people like they were idiots. Then, when I had an appointment at 4pm, they saw several other pets in front of me even when they got there after me. During my bird's exam, the "doctor" would say things like "oh we don't do this that much here" and she repeated "we close at 6" several times and because of that, she said they couldn't do much for my bird. However, she said to bring him back tomorrow because they could do more tests, but she wanted to leave by 6 so she didn't care to stay later to help my dying bird. She also spoke incredibly rudely to her assistant, yelling at her in front of me. They did FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS worth of "test" and pushed me out the door by 5:30. We woke up the next morning and our poor little bird died in my hands. I wouldn't trust this place with a fly. Your pets are better off anywhere else, don't take them here.

I had a very bad experience with this place. The emergency room told me to go here when my bird had a bleeding beak (literally blood drops coming out of it due to a fracture). The person on the phone told me to go back to the emergency room since they only see pets with appointments. What kind of hospital refuses service to a patient that is actively bleeding? Thankfully Montclair veterinary hospital in Berkeley took us in seconds after we walked in and stopped the bleeding and helped us with the whole process. Montclair's pricing was also very good. Don't go to Bay Area Bird Hospital, just go directly to Montclair.
