Dr. Diamond saved my cat's life twice! He and the staff are always kind and supportive. I recently moved 20 miles away but will stay with Clairemont Village Pet Clinic. They are the BEST!

Dr Diamond has taken care of my white boxer for nearly the last 10 years. He always gave me straight answers, multiple options so I could determine budget and best path forward for Lily, he always checked in to make sure she was doing OK, fit us in when she wasn't doing well and helped me through the last month of her battle with cancer. His staff, John and Annette especially are always cheerful and helpful.

I had a strange experience making and keeping my appointment. First I made my appointment in person. I called to reschedule and they didn't even have my appointment in the system! Next, I made an appointment by phone. When I actually had to call and reschedule again (work/holidays stuff) they had no record of me again! So very bizarre. But the third time is the charm and I made an appointment and when I showed up they were expecting me. And honestly, the vet Dr. Diamond made an impression on me as a caring, straight forward and understanding doc. I will keep coming back.

I had the worst experience here and HIGHLY RECOMMEND taking your pet elsewhere. My dog had developed a really bad cough which I suspected to be kennel cough. I made an appointment and brought him in to be seen. The main Vet, Dr. Diamond, was on vacation out of the country and they had a stand-in/visiting Vet in his place. She diagnosed my dog with kennel cough and prescribed him two medications, an antibiotic (enrofloxacin) and a cough suppressant. The cough suppressant was a controlled medication and I was told the person who has the keys for it was out on lunch, so I could either wait an hour, come back later, or they could write me a written prescription to go pick it up. I asked for a written prescription for it, which they provided. They then tried to charge me $90 for the antibiotic, so I asked for a written prescription for it as well, as I knew it would be cheaper at the pharmacy where I was going (Costco, where it ended up being $47). They reluctantly did this (even though it's CA law). I then presented them with the 20% off coupon that is provided on Yelp for the exam fee for my dog's first visit to their clinic. The ladies at the front desk had no clue about the coupon and didn't want to accept it, but when I showed it to them they knew they had to honor it so they did and I ended up paying about $45 for the exam fee. I took the prescriptions to Costco to be filled and was told the one for the cough suppressant wasn't written on the correct form (no barcode and it didn't have the prescribing Dr's name at the top). I was told that I'd need to go back and get the correct form from the vet as it's not a prescription that could be called in. I called the vet's office and was told "Oh yeah, we don't have the right forms here, we know that's the law, but we did that because we thought we'd try and see if they'd accept it". I then asked how much it cost at the vet directly and was told $160, when it was $40 at Costco. I didn't want to pay four times the cost so I asked if they could match the price since they already wasted my time doing something they knew wouldn't work and wasn't the legal way. They said no and then they prescribed me with an alternative medication, "cough tabs". They gave me 60 of these cough tabs for $40. I later found that a bottle of 250 of these costs $45 at most places online, so again, I was charged four times the price. Apparently the medications is where this place makes their money. After four days of my dog taking the medication it got worse. Nothing was working and I ended up taking him to a very highly reviewed Vet Hospital in Tijuana. I had never done this before and I don't speak Spanish, but I couldn't get my dog in to be seen anywhere around San Diego and the Vet Hospitals charge a tremendous amount of money for their services. I called the office in Tijuana and the person that answered spoke English. I made an appointment the same day, took him in and the nurses and front desk receptionist spoke fluent English. They took my dog in, performed an exam, X-ray, blood tests, ultrasound, gave him an injection of prednisone, prescribed him with a better antibiotic (Doxycycline, they said the one provided by the vet at Clairemont Village Pet Clinic wasn't as effective at treating kennel cough), gave me the medications, and scheduled him a free follow-up exam for the following week. Total price for everything? $40!!! I'll never go back to Clairemont Village Pet Clinic. It was a waste of my time, money, energy, and if this review can save just one of you from visiting this place then I feel satisfied.

Our two cats and dog have been well cared for at this clinic. We get done what we need to get done in a timely manner, they communicate well, and can get our animals in when they need to be seen.

I have been bringing my pets to Clairemont Village Pet Clinic since I moved to Bay Park in 1979. I have always received excellent care for my cats and dogs over the years. My husband recently surprised me with two new kittens and I took them in for a checkup and shots. Once again, my pets received the care I have come to expect from Dr, Diamond and his excellent staff.

Handled my aggressive kitty and my tame kitty at same time, and without incident. I am very impressed with the staff, and the veterinarian , they are verygoodat what they do. Fantastic!. I appreciate that they were clear and precise in explaining what is what during the exam. Was not a terrible experience at all even though my male cat is usually extremely aggressive at other pet clinics, he wasn't as bad here. I am glad I chose this veterinarian clinic for my fur babies . I highly recommend this place!

Dr. Diamond and his staff have been with our family and Louie’s food allergies every step of the way! We now have a super healthy happy Vizsla! I called multiple times and questions were answered in detail. He was also neutered there and they did a wonderful job!

Dr Diamond and his team convince their clients to spend money on international travel certifications that dogs don't need just to rob them. It happens to us as well as our family. They examin dog for travel which is also not needed and charge $100 for conversations which they call consultations which in Europe cost 12 Euros ($15!).

UPDATE: for the last 10 years now. Still just as happy. Dr. Diamond is wonderful. I've been taking my cats here for the last 5 years and the staff has been great. They're always very friendly and helpful and I'm happy to know they are there to care for my pets :)

The reason that brought us into Clairemont Village Pet Clinic was a sad one. Our dog was very sick, losing weight, not eating, throwing up and in pain. Not only did CVPC squeeze us in last minute when they had a cancelation so we didn't have to go wait in the ER, but despite never having seen our pup before, greeted us with such love and warmth. After a physical and x-rays, it was discovered that our sweet boy had tumors that were causing a blockage in his intestines. Due to his age, what little we really knew about the potential prognosis and the long road to recovery, we made the difficult decision to put him down. CVPC could not have been more supportive, sensitive or empathetic. 2 weeks afterwards, we received a card with hand written messages from every employee, sending their sympathy and love. We felt like family, and will be forever clients here from now on.

My 15 year old chihuahua had to have a lumpectomy we were concerned because of her age. Dr. Diamond and staff were very gentle, caring and gave me good after care instructions for my baby (Ol Lady). They called to check up on her a few days after her surgery and I appreciated the call. There were also very gentle taking her stiches out and she's back to playing and her old self already! Thanks Dr. Diamond and staff!

Friendly, compassionate, courteous, clean, efficient all in one word Simply Excellent!! My Dog Wazzi, eat an aspirin 325mg and got very sick all night. I took him to the Clinic I always used and they could not help me because they were too busy. Disappointed and angry I took my dog's file and went to Clairemont Village Pet Clinic without an appointment. I was immediately welcomed. They were busy yet they accepted me and took us in to examine WAZZI. After a through examination by the staff and Dr. Diamond we went home with three different medications and clear instruction. Very pleased by the entire experience. The next day Dr. Diamond called to check on WAZZI which made me happy. THEY CARE!! THANK YOU CLAIREMONT VILLAGE PET CLINIC, DR. DAMOND!! WAZZI is now back to his normal activity and happy. God bless you all!!
