Willow Rock has been our goto vet in Rocklin. Sad to see the Dr. retire but it is well deserved. Hope the new owners are as attentive.

UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP. My dog has congestive heart failure. After the Blue Oaks Vets bought Dr. C practice, I have called multiple times and was even hung up on. I called back and wouldn’t let them put me on a 25 min hold and they took my number still no call back. I have made comments on their Facebook Posts and no reply except to school me for talking bad about their lack of response. Now I know why they bought his patient list because they couldn’t build their own practice. Dr. C didn’t tell any of his chronically I’ll patients who get their meds filled monthly probably because he knew he would lose patients. Now I am scrambling to find a caring vet like to help keep my fur baby alive. HOW DO I GET MY DOGS MEDICINE because she WILL DIE WITHOUT IT?

Great place to take the furry ones. The staff and doctor are top notch. Affordable as well. If you can get in, you go here. Couldn't be happier with the service. My favorite Vet.

We have taken our pets to Willow Rock for many years. We love Dr. Carstens and his staff. They are compassionate and professional, and I trust that our pets are getting the BEST possible care! I have referred several friends and family members to them, and everyone has had a very positive experience. Love them!

Stopped by to get my dog's allergy shot and pills for my dog and cat. No vet required. Pretty fast and easy. Covid-19 compliant.

I just want to let you know that LISA at the front desk is a very rude person! Either way by phone call or in person! It’s a shame because Dr. Carstens is very caring and his staff as well. Anyway there’s always a bad apple in the bunch!

We have had some wonderful veterinarians, but these folks are the best, hands down. Very caring, personal, reasonable prices, technically proficient. You could not do better than to go here. We moved out of town, and we drive 90 miles one way when one of our doggies really needs the best. :)

I travel a distance to use this vet. Was recommended by a friend. Soooo glad I found out about them! I really like the veterinarian. He is super nice and I appreciate how communicative he is. The hospital seems to get a steady amount of clientele. It's nice to finally find a vet that is more focused on the animal rather than with making a huge profit.

The stars are for the majority of the staff at willow Rock. Super kind & super sweet to me and my dog! About a year ago I took my senior dog to Dr. Carsten, he was highly recommended by my neighbors.she was suffering with arthritis i was pretty sure, and my concern was her comfort level and her ability to continue walking. At that time she was 14, with no other apparent issues. Dr Carsten was kind and certain it was arthritis, he suggested Rimadyl and i agreed to give it a try. And in the coming months it worked wonders for her! Took her in for an ear infection, they kindly squeezed us in. Several more months go by and im noticing some behaviors that caused me concern. Cries some nights and more vocal, I feared she was in pain. Get an appointment w/ dr. Carsten want him to check her out and possibly an addition to her medicine to ensure her comfort and rest. He greets us, i explain my concern about the nights she cries and is more vocal,( possibly pica )eating crazy stuff, more anxious then usual. My belief is my dog is experiencing more pain than usual. He said she was senile, i told him I wish he wouldn't say that because I'd recognize that if it were true My dog may have been old, but senile she was not. He told me he could do nothing for old age, shes getting old and what i was describing was old age and symptoms she was senile. He was done and they gave her some dumb shot that made no sense and made no improvement. No scientific proof, no suggestions, no hope, no comfort, no help for us there. I knew at that moment my dog & i were on our own & in my humble opinion dr. Carstens suggestion that my dog was senile was ignorance on his part. He could've done lab work, an xray, anything just to be certain and to give me piece of mind. That was June. I needed to get established w/ a new vet. In July, she no longer was able to keep up w/ our walking routine, she was crying in pain more and more, her leg started to swell, took her to loomis basin, she was anemic, and everything unraveled from there. July 30th we ended her pain. I am not implying my dog died because of dr. Carsten, but some blood work wouldve giving me an answer to my concern of her pain. And she certainly was in pain. Had he been thorough, he could've better prepared me for what was ahead and kept her comfortable as possible. I believe it was important for me to share my experience, and my hope is it will be helpful to someone.
