I would not recommend you take your animals to this place. Their prices are always bouncing around and more importantly they ma a w my dogs sick by giving them too many vaccines on one day then refused to get her or help her

I went here for puppy shots for the dog I adopted, thinking there was no way to go wrong with just vaccines, but I had a terrible experience all around. The staff was very condescending each visit and is not prepared to deal with fearful animals. My pup was also on heartworm medications, and when I called to have them refilled I never heard anything back from them. Very unprofessional and lazy all around.

Don’t go here if your dog has an ear infection. They completely misdiagnosed my dogs severe ear infection and had me mistreating it for 1 month which caused him a lot of pain and discomfort. I used this vet because I was able to get in for an appointment quickly, however, it was definitely not worth it. My dog had an ear infection and when I asked for a treatment plan and medicine they told me to keep using the pet store flush and recommended I get two of his teeth pulled? I called back two weeks later saying it wasn’t working and I needed a prescription and he told me to use the flush more frequently. I called back the next week very concerned and frustrated and he said since it had been so long they wanted to see him for another appointment. Eventually they finally gave me a prescription and I used it for a week and nothing improved. I ended up going to another vet and my dogs ear is finally clearing up.

When you FINALLY get through to a human they tell you to hang up fill out the online new client for you so that and wait for a response , so you call back multiple times often to be put on hold for a chunk of time . Only to be told that the online new client form didn’t go through so hang up and do it all over Again . So basically they don’t need your business . Would be easier to post that on the web site thanks for consuming all my time

I was kind of disappointed the lady leah i believe. I feel like she wasn't very professional in her questioning. i also felt like she was judging me when it came to where i got my cat. i also got the feeling that they don't get African American clients i felt really uncomfortable. Please hire staff that are comfortable working with people of ever race.

Our two dogs have been going to this clinic. We have been very happy with their great service. Their website is also convenient in setting up appointments and ordering your refills for your pets. The facility is also nice and clean with a good parking space at the back. The staff are very friendly, professional, and accommodating.

So I was denied service for missing a few appointments. I had called to cancel the appointments. I believe all but one. I was unaware that this place wants understanding with the pandemic but offers none to potential customers. Pretty vindictive practice

Our cats were gathered from our car (this is due to curbside and Covid) very near to our appointment time. The tech and veterinarian communicated well about everything even though it was a rather simple visit of vaccines and an annual checkup. Very easy vet visit! We’ve been bringing our cats here since they were kittens, before all the Covid restrictions. The staff always talks about our cats’ personalities and of course their health. We’ve always been happy with each visit.

I must say from the minute I called their office to the delivery of my baby after being spayed, Fairgrounds Animal Hospital & their staff went above & beyond. If only all vets would follow their exceptional standard. I’m a full time RVer not knowing the Reno area but knowing time was running out for my girl to be fixed. I am SO GLAD I called their office & they had an opening. Kind of scary being in my position to put my baby in their hands. But what a wonderful experience it was. They are professional, friendly, concerned, & gave excellent instructions for home care. Within days Dakota is her old self & healing nicely. If you’re looking for a vet you can trust…this one is it! Thank you Fairgrounds Animal Hospital for all you do!

Fairgrounds Animal Hospital has some of the most caring and capable staff we have ever encountered. They worked to get us in on a cancellation appointment, as our dog's need for vet care was quite apparent. They were so good with our husky, Scarlett, and spent all the time needed to figure out her diagnosis. Dr. Wehrman was an angel as she gave us the results that were terminal. We trusted her honesty and her thoroughness in helping us look at all possible options for our girl. Darby also was so kind and loving to Scarlett. While we unfortunately won't be needing a vet for a while now, when we do in the future, we will be back at Fairgrounds Animal Hospital.

First visit was January of 2021. My little dog got sick and after calling 6 other vets with no luck of getting in for 3 months, Fairgrounds Vets were a welcome surprise. They took the time to ask me questions and squeezed me in within 4 days after calling. All the other places said they were overwhelmed with business because of covid and i was advised to go to an emergency vet. So just got done today at my 2nd visit, ear problems. Couldn't be happier with the friendly and caring attitude of all the employees. They genuinely care about your pet. They ask all questions related to your visit and the vet calls you after to explain everything. They even give you a follow up call a few days after your visit, just to check in and see how everything is going. I would highly recommend this clinic for your pets needs. They made me and my dog very happy. I'm not good remembering names, but I think it was Michelle who greeted me, checked me in and gave me peace of mind that my dog was being given excellent care.

I have been going to Fairgrounds for about a year and a half with my animals. I love the Vets, they are kind and compassionate about their work. Appointments were quite quick and if they weren't quick that would be communicated to you. The last 4 or 5 times I have been to this vet has had over an hour wait times. Which I understand, to an extent. You call to check in and they say someone will call you back in a few minutes to go over the appointment and bring the pet back. Today, I waited 40 minutes and called again seeing how long it would take for me to go back. They said "oh no, let me see what's taking them so long" Meanwhile, multiple pet parents were being taken in before me even though I was waiting there much longer than them. My appointment today was for a nail trim at 11 am, that's it. After waiting another 20 minutes, I walked up to the front door and knocked to which they told me it would be another 10 minutes at least of waiting. I was still charged full price for the nail trim. It definitely isnt quick anymore, and there is a very big sign of lack of communication within the staff. I really hope this turns around for them.

This place was reccomended for me under the words it was a good vet and they were helpful. While that was all true the total cost of this visit was a chuck of over 200 dollars for a minor visit. They did not even offer me care credit option or anything. They just went and outright asked for my card before doing anything for my pet. They took almost a half hour getting me back my debit card and another 20 mins to return my dogs medication they asked to look at. When they returned my dog with cone on head they forgot to remove his harness before putting cone on head. Obviously this is a good place and good staff but the way to they operate and willfully ignore a request leaves me to believe this is not a good vet for anyone.

For the last 5 years of my dogs life I used Fairgrounds as my vet. To be completely honest I wasn't always totally satisfied with the way the office was run but I liked and trusted Dr'. Cox and Johnson. Cox is young and compassionate while Johnson is older and a bit gruff. The office itself is a bit rundown and has an old school feeling feeling about it, but having an elder dog that was only in need of an allergy shot once a month they did a decent job. What always made me uncomfortable was when I felt pressured to buy extra services that I knew were of no use. When my dog reached the age of 14 (2 years beyond his average life expectancy) they would push for blood work ups that were upwards of $300 or more. I understand that they should always offer but there was always this more than offer and more of 'sell' about it. After 5 years of spending over $100 a month at this vet my dog, now at the age of 16, appeared to have a stroke in the early hours of a weekday morning. Having had a dog that had a stroke before I saw the signs and was pretty sure that was what happened. I called as soon as they opened and was told there were no openings that day, but after being put on hold I was informed that Dr. Cox could see my dog at 1015am and there would be a surcharge of $60.00 because it was an emergency visit. We arrived at 1007am and called to let them know we were checking in and was told okay they would be out to get him. Mind you the entire time I have a dying dog in my backseat that I'm distraught about. Thirty minutes pass and no word from them so I call back only to be told that we didn't actually have an appointment but rather emergency visits are worked around scheduled appointments. I've made it clear to the receptionist the severity of the situation but this was the policy. After an hour and half of waiting they finally come get my dog. The worst fear comes true and the decision was made to put him down. Dr. Cox was kind enough to actually come outside and speak to us (myself and my partner) and explain the process. An employee followed with some papers for me to sign and collect my credit card. I asked the amount and was told the total was $197.00 including the basic euthanasia and communal ashes. Then I was told that only one person could be in the room due to Covid. That meant that my partner had to stay in the car while I went in and dealt with watching our dog of 16 years stop living. Okay, I get the Covid rules but I also know that a friend of mine just had their dog put down and he and his brother were allowed in the room at the same time. Their rules are their rules. A few days later I check my statement and I've been charged $89.00 for the 'emergency visit' and $197.00 for the procedure. I know there are stages of grief that one goes through and this set off my anger stage. After my being loyal to this vet for over 5 years and having spent literally thousands of dollars I felt like enough was enough. This place obviously cares much more about their bottom line than they do about customer service and loyalty. I called and spoke to Denise who is the office manager and expressed basically what I just stated. She said she would listen to the call that came in that morning and speak to the vet and call be back no later than two days. That was over a month ago and still no call. For me money is not the driving issue of this negative review it's the fact that the management of this clinic proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that their bottom line was worth much more than customer loyalty. I still have questions... like why was I given a time, 1015am, to be there when I actually didn't have an appointment at all? Why didn't I get the courtesy of getting a call back or even an e-mail? They send me e-mails all the time advertising that it's time for whatever it is that they want to sell so why can't I get an e-mail? Please, in honor of my guy, hurt this place in the only way they can be hurt and that is to not give them a dime of your money. It is all the management obviously cares about.

Super accommodating! I'm so grateful to have found Fair Grounds Animal Hospital. Due to a cancelation they were able to get my dog in on the same day I called for a checkup. Plus they made time to trim his nails plus some other stuff ???????????? when I asked last minute.
