Wonderful cat shelter where we recently found our two wonderful kitties. The kittens were carefully paired to make sure they were compatible companions for each other (they aren't siblings). Took a little more time, but we are glad we waited. They are indeed a perfect pair! We were also asked to wait until we were sure that one if the kittens didn't go home with diarrhea. Glad we waited till that was resolved too! If you are looking for some new feline friends this is a great place to come to find them. Lucy works hard to make the perfect matches (between cats and with people) and knows every single cat and kitten there. They are so well-cared for at Whis-purr. They are well-socialized with volunteers and with other cats, grouped in clean living environments for stimulating play, exercise and rest. But the best thing for these felines is to go home to a caring, loving forever family. More if these are always needed for the steady stream of kittens and cats that are rescued. Lucy will equip you with everything you might need - the right food, toys, advice and support - to get you off to a successful start. You must make an appointment to visit the cats, or come to an open house (every first Saturday of the month)! Whis-Purr is located in the storefront of the Peninsula Feed Store

The negative reviews are absolute fabrications. Anyone with common sense knows a good rescue thoroughly screens their applicants. This rescue is beyond amazing. These cats are sincerely loved and carefully homed because they are family to the people running it. Everyone involved in the rescue knows each and every cat and knows how to properly place them.

I have never seen a rescue who cares more about the cats in their care. I delivered kittens here from the shelter that they were rescuing from euthanasia over five years ago. I have been a volunteer ever since. I can assure you that this is no scam, as some very misinformed reviewers have said. They do keep bonded siblings together because that is best for the cats/kittens. I have seen many, many kittens and cats adopted to wonderful homes. Lucy keeps in touch with the families to assist in the successful transition. She also sends all kinds of goodies including beds and trees so the cats have familiar things to help them be comfortable. If looking for kittens or cats i highly recommend a visit to Whis-Purr to see for yourself.

The cats and kittens at Whis-Purr are much loved and well cared for, it is obvious. Lucy is so helpful in finding the best cats for you and she knows all about every cat. The set up with the rooms and tunnels makes the most of the space so the cats have lots of room to roam but stay safe. You can go in and spend time with the cats. Highly recommended.

Scam alert! These people have no intention of adopting out these cats, DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY

Listings are at best misleading, at worst openly dishonest. I feel so bad for these cats that will never find homes because of mismanagement of this rescue.

Refused to consider me for adoption if I didn’t take multiple cats and let me be clear that these are not bonded pairs. These people are just using these cats to scam for donations with no intention of finding them families.

I have been volunteering here for nearly a year, and I have nothing but glowing praise for this organization. The care and concern for the happiness and well-being of the cats is like nothing I have ever seen at a rescue. If you are looking for cats to adopt (they generally adopt bonded pairs) or for a place to volunteer, head to Whis-Purr rescue. You won't regret it !

I’ve never experienced a “rescue” who cared less about the welfare of their cats than Whis-Purr. They women who run the group, Lucy and Caitlin, are unprofessional and unstable. We fostered a cat from them for 5.5 months and they never …

Best place to adopt cats. You cat watch them on line first and go for a petting in person.

Don’t understand why people don’t give 5 stars. The staff is really friendly and thorough introducing each kitten and who are in pair for us. She let us get in each cage to play closely with them. The setting of each cage and room are so warm and makes a lot of fun for the kitty. Really a nice place looking for cat. Forgot to mention, it’s really clean and well ventilated.
