Our horribly sad experience putting our dog blanco to sleep couldn't have been done without the loving care of SAGE. It was a very sudden, scary experience but the SAGE doc and nurses were amazing - so kind, caring and sensitive to our situation. We are ever grateful that blanco had his last moments of life with them.

Nothing but amazing people with so much compassion here. We lost our sweet black Persian cat Soot Sprite to extremely unlucky circumstances, but this team endlessly rooted for us and tried their hardest to help her and were there for us …

We are so grateful to finally have an ER vet who (even in times of stress) was able to show compassion for our situation as well as a willingness to listen to our details. This was not our first time at an ER vet by a long shot. SAGE's staff was honest, thorough, and kind to us and our pet.

Wonderful team and organization, very professional! Their phone assistance and check in procedures are clear and logical, staff is courteous and take time to explain what will happen and communication is prompt and very good . To those who may complain about costs, this IS an emergency 24-7 hospital staffed by Doctors who have to to go through just as much training and education as human doctors if not more. I feel the costs are in line with competing hospitals and clinics in the bay area. I’m always grateful that they are here and staffed and able to take care of any problem my cats may have at any time of the day!

Attentive and quality care - they really treat my senior dog as an individual and take the time to explain everything.

When in need of unexpected or emergency vet care we always think of SAGE first. They were super busy the day we went in but our dog still received top-notch, timely and compassionate care. We have SAGE on auto dial in our phones :-)

My dog is literally dying right now and you guys have had me on hold for 30 minutes because I don’t know what to do and you can’t just walk in.

This place is an absolute joke. They exploit people in dire situations with their back against the wall. Americans myself included will do anything for their pets. Considering this is an emergency care facility, they completely exploit your vulnerability. I am not a wealthy person I'm a single mother. Got my daughter a kitten. The kitten became ill. I thought at the very least they would vaccinate the kitten. Not only did they charge me $800 they didn't give me a diagnosis they didn't give me any medication they didn't give me the records nor will they release them they were incredibly rude and they held the kitten hostage until I depleted my saving of $800. That was supposed to be the deposit for my daughters braces. I explained that I would do a payment plan but they could care less. Also what's funny is they only comment back if you give them a four-star review as you can see if you leave a poor review they do not try and make you feel better at the very least they don't do anything. I wish this place would stop exploiting the community that they reside in

I read the negative reviews. News flash people - veterinary medicine is one of the most overworked, underpaid industries in the country. It also has one of the highest rates of suicide among any profession. Now add COVID to the mix. I advise everyone to keep this mind before they even think about stepping foot into an animal ER facility. The reason SAGE has to have a sign in the parking lot asking people to not act in a hostile manner is because most of the ignorant general public lacks the understanding and compassion of what it takes to work in veterinary medicine. Due to all the reasons I outlined above, SAGE has to invoke a rigorous triage system. That means if you bring Fluffy in with a broken leg, he's getting pushed down the list so they can treat the flat-lining labrador who just came through the door. I brought my diabetic cat in who hadn't eaten in four days and was getting weaker by the minute and they immediately assessed her, determined she was stable, and said they would examine her in a few hours. I was fine with what they told me because she was just that - stable. Not critical, not dying...stable. And actually they did rush a labrador in on a stretcher while I was waiting in the parking lot. Because I respect and appreciate the triage system as well as the immense pressure this facility operates under, I was hoping they attended to the labrador before my cat. Finally to the issue of cost. For the love of god, stop complaining about the cost and get some freaking pet health insurance. I can almost guarantee that one single trip to the ER in the middle of the night will make up for all the premiums you pay (which, in some cases, is cheaper than your monthly trip to the nail salon). And if all of this is still too expensive for you, maybe you should get a goldfish. I'm sorry, but I can't stand reading negative comments from irresponsible people who are taking their poor decision making and lack of compassion out on a veterinary hospital. SAGE saved my Scout's life. I was patient and respectful to the staff and treated with the same in return. I am forever grateful to them.

My cat had hyperthyroidism for a year. Medication and prescription food (y/d) did little help. I was hesitant toward radioiodine treatment because my cat only has one kidney. Seeing my cat become thinner every day, I started to look for treatment. Our vet only knew about RadioCat, an unavailable facility. Fortunately, Sage Redwood City re-started the radioiodine service this year. When I finally decided to inquire, Pam called and explained everything clearly. She also sent a follow-up email right away with procedures, safety precautions, and appointment confirmation. I have been in 8 different veterinary facilities in the past 15 years and rarely met someone as professional and charming as Pam. She could answer any question regarding the treatment and reply to emails quickly. During my cat's 3-day stay, she called with updates and texted pictures. It was a pleasure to hear her friendly voice. I definitely will contact her again if any one of my other cats has hyperthyroidism.

Amazing care, amazing service and efficiency. Our primary care vet left us high and dry in our time of need and the team at SAGE stepped in.

Can’t say enough! Very satisfied with the vet, Dr. Thaliath, and the staff. My dog had a luxating patella that has been misdiagnosed in the past. The care was thorough and informative as to what to expect in future occurrences.

We took our dog here after we were referred by another animal hospital that was unfortunately not able to accept emergencies when we called. We were treated with kindness every step of the way during a very scary time, and our dog was well cared for. We asked lots of questions and they were patient and helpful. I wish we could come here for non-emergency visits! We would absolutely recommend this vet hospital.

The customer service is absolutely horrid! They don't allow anyone in their massive building and make concerned customers cook while sitting in the sun in their parking lot. There's no way to speak with a human, it's all done via phone calls and is extremely slow. It took over an hour for them to pick up my call just to tell them I'm here waiting in the parking lot. It's been another hour already and nobody has come to help us...to help my injured dog. Get your s*** together Sage. You are the most expensive vet in the bay... possibly the USA and you can't even check in your customers in person or give them the decency of a cooled place to wait.

Our kitty Queenzy was recently diagnosed with cancer. We took her to Sage in Redwood City to see Dr. Brian Marker for a consult and diagnostics. We were given a perfect care by Dr. Marker and his team members, Davina and Bianca. They are very friendly and compassionate. They were answering all our questions and took care of our girl. Can't imagine taking Queenzy anywhere else. Thank you Dr. Marker, Davina and Bianca.

I've had my pomeranian coming here to see Dr. Silverman (cardiology) for about 3 years now. Every visit is prompt and I like the post-visit summary emails I get.

I couldn't be more pleased with their care, compassion and excellent bedside manner. So trustworthy, which is so important when facing an emergency or dilema concerning the welfare of our pets. One of the few businesses which has maintained it's integrity and professionalism during these trying times. Just go, you will be more than treated well and satisfied! I called at 7, triage upon delivery to the clinic, follow up treatment within the two hours they represented, detailed and explicit instruction for medication on pickup. II've paid many a vet bill, the $493 cost very reasonable, my cat's leg in bad shape from tight bandage not removed for almost 2 days!

Dr Reinker is very kind, compassionate, & knowledgeable. She took time to explain what was happening & wrote a thorough report. Her Bet Tech Jennifer skillfully & patiently taught me how to give my cat a vitamin B12 injection. He needed to see both an internist for an ultrasound & a cardiologist for a sonogram, but both were scheduled on different days. However, they were able to do both on the same day so that my very sick cat didn’t have to go back on a different day. This vet clinic is very professional & organized with contactless checkin.

Clear communication, caring staff, competent care I made a same-day appointment with the urgent care clinic to treat my dog’s eye infection. Local veterinarians offered appointments in October, which of course was not practical. My experience with Sage was nothing but positive. The charges were clearly presented before the appointment was scheduled. (Despite what one reviewer claimed, I found Sage’s charges to be in alignment with the other 24-hour emergency pet clinics that I have visited in the past.) Also clearly communicated was the procedure for check-in, as covid measures are in place. During the visit, vet tech Kristin took a thorough health history before taking my dog into the clinic, and even returned my dog to me, at the car, so he could wait in peace with his ‘mom’ while our visit was processed. Similarly, Dr. Sara was professional, caring, and kind. She shared with me her findings and plan for treatment, and answered my many questions. We were seen at our appointment time, and done with the visit quite quickly. I do understand that should there have been a delay, it would have been due to a more urgent case needing attention. As a pet owner I would be fine with this; were it my pet in need of critical care, I know they would be prioritized. As it was, my case was not critical, and I was glad to have an option for care sooner than October. Thank you, Dr. Sara, and staff at Sage.

We happened to bring our dog here from San Francisco when she fell ill in the middle of the night. We are so glad that we did, as we are certain that the knowledgeable, kind, and fast acting staff at SAGE saved our dog’s life. They understood the emergent situation and provided her with an accurate diagnosis quickly. We were provided frequent updates and were treated with compassion and respect during her 7-day hospitalization. We really felt that our dog was in the best hands possible. We are forever grateful to the staff at SAGE for saving her life.

Sage Veterinary Clinic in Redwood City is THE best emergency care hospital! They are professional but caring and always respond quickly to an emergency. I've had 3 dogs I've taken there for care. Each time they have treated my animals promptly and made me feel as if they loved my dogs as much I do. Their prices are reasonable as well.
