I called to make a last minute reservation over the weekend and learned over the phone that they do not take pit bull mixes. After assuring the woman on the phone that my dog is well socialized and very friendly with adults, children and dogs, and tolerating her response of "pit bulls are usually very aggressive," she spoke with her manager and decided they could take him for the weekend. Between that time I was happy to have found a neighbor who was able to watch my dog instead. They will not have my business.

This place is great. The staff is friendly. The place is very clean. The dogs are not locked in a cage they have a nice puppy house that they stay in. My dog always comes back nice and clean. Can't say enough about this place I would highly recommend it if you're looking for a kennel.

Best place. If you love your dogs (or cats) bring them here.

The only place I'll leave my dog besides with loved ones. Your dog gets a private air conditioned/heated house with a private outdoor area and a cute elevated dog bed. If your dog makes a friend they will bunk them together. The staff really get to know your dog and their needs. My folks and I have been taking our dogs here for years and love it.

Very easy, professional, and it felt very safe. They kept all our dogs together, showed us the house they were staying in, and were very friendly. We will definitely be coming back.

My pup, Nala, is always happy to go to Canterbury Tails. She loves the people and loved being with other dogs. She's always happy, clean, (and tired!) when I pick her up.

I normally don't rate and post but I feel the need to do so this time! I just picked up our Shitzuh (Caddy) from there and he was really pissy-filthy! He has stayed there 4 or 5 times prior to this stay but the last 2 times when I picked him up, he was smelling really loud of urine and all wet of it on his under side with dinginess all around his (white) fur. On every stay we always request for an exit bath but the last two times it seems as if they ignored it, just plain neglect! The last time I gave it the benefit of the doubt...but today confirmed my doubt. If I could post pictures of him looking like how I described - I would quickly do so (which I did take pictures). All I can say is, they have lost a valuable customer in us and I definitely will be finding a "new" place for him during our next trip(s) out of town! And to add to this - when we got home, he ate and drink water like crazy and that makes me question..."are they even feeding and giving him water regularly??? WE ARE DONE WITH THAT PLACE!!!!!

I love this kennel. More importantly, my dogs love this kennel. I lived in Paso for two years, while my boyfriend lived on the east coast. As a result, I needed to board my dogs (two Boxers, 6 year old male and 4 year old female) for extended stays. I toured the Canterbury facility and found it immaculate and the staff friendly. The owners were professional and accommodating. The kennels are spacious private rooms, with heat and air conditioning and their own little yard. If social, the dogs are also taken for group play in the yard. When I picked up my dogs after their first stay, they were happy to see me, but clearly would have been happy to stay. On recurring visits, they even ran around the yard trying to avoid me and the leash to extend their stay. The staff members are great with the dogs, exhibiting sincere affection for them. My dogs would get excited in the car as we approached the kennel. I have since moved from the area, but I drive my dogs down when I need to leave them for an extended stay, because I know they will be happy and well cared for. I have never encountered a kennel as good as this one. It's so beautiful, with its little Tudor kennels under the old twisted oaks, that I love the few minutes I spend there dropping off/picking up the dogs. I highly recommend it.

I have used them multiple times! They are great and very attentive to dog needs! I will always take my dogs here! They have heated and air conditioned cottages for the dogs and are very sweet to all the dogs that come to them! I definitely recommend taking your dog here!

Our dogs stayed at this facility from March 1st thru March 12th in 2016. When we picked up the dogs ( 2 Rottweilers: a 8 year old and a 8 month old puppy) from the facility that Saturday morning we went straight home (5 minutes from our home). We had been driving all night, so when we got home we went directly to bed. This was approximately at 11am. My boyfriend and I laughed saying, "the dogs are going to be so excited to see us that we are not going to be able to take naps." Well, we did fall a asleep for about an hour and when I woke up, my puppy wasn't moving and he was crying. I IMMEDIATELY picked up the phone and called the facility and spoke to the receptionist. I asked her if she knew what was wrong with him? She said she didn't know, so then I asked her if he played very hard with other dogs? She reminded me that because he wasn't fixed yet, he was not allowed in the yard with the other dogs. We decided to keep an eye on him thinking maybe he was sore from laying in the kennel for so many days, but keep in mind this is a 8 month old puppy, not my 8 year old senior dog who was perfectly fine... Finally on Tuesday, we brought him in to our vet because it was not getting any better and we were told that the puppy had a bruised sternum. What? Really? How? What happened? So, we went back to the facility to speak with the owners. One of the owners was there and we told him what the vet said. He said that he would speak to the other owner and they would get back with us. We started on our way home, when we get the phone call from the other owner who spoke with my boyfriend in a VERY aggressive and defensive manner. So much so that at one point he started saying, "why are you yelling at me? I'm going to hang up know." About 3 days into dealing with the puppy's bruised sternum, he still wasn't getting any better. No meds or rest were helping, this is a puppy who would play till the cows come home, but he was so injured he couldn't even eat from a bowl, I had to hand feed him. We decided to take him back to the vet, at this point they did x-rays and discovered that he had a fractured sternum in TWO PLACES. Which the vet said was caused by some sort of BLUNT TRAUMA ... Are you kidding me? So, we went back to the facility to bring the latest findings to the attention of the owners. Well, this was interesting as they came up with a million ways of how our dog was injured. All we wanted was to let her know.... "hey, you have a problem here and you need to look into this." She even said that maybe we got into an accident on the way home and that's what injured him? Uhmm don't you think that if that were the case we would take the dog to the vet and say...we got in a car accident. Not, oh hey, let's pin the vet bill on the facility? We just spent close to $800 for the 2 dogs while we were on vacation. If the dog was injured in our care....we would fix it. In any case, the facility did end up paying for the vet bills, even though they tried to say that it did not happen while he was there. The facts are the facts....if there is any doubt that I was not a customer with this facility I would be more than happy to personally provide documentation.
