Ordered an expensive test due to my cat not feeling well and they never called me back with the results. I’ve tried to get in touch with them a few times but I end up sitting on hold for 15+ minutes. Next time we plan to go to Berkeley for our emergency vet needs

Recently used Oakvet after our pup had an encounter, presumably, with a bee or other stingy insect. My husband and I had just made it into Oakland after an 8 hour drive when our pups face, eyes and mouth started swelling fast! Not familiar …

Well you cannot find a better place in times of emergency or for specialty vet care. My little mini Doxie is a fan of the doctors, techs and I am too.

Great communication! I heard from several different vets over the course of 2 days -- all informative, friendly and caring.

Oak Vet was very helpful in seeing my dog early in the morning. They were the only emergency clinic in the Bay Area that was willing to see my dog. Dr. Shishida was extremely thorough after examining my dog and she helped direct me to other facilities that specialize in neurology based on my dog’s symptoms. Thank you Oak Vet.

The outstanding team at OakVet led by Dr. Wignall literally saved our beloved dog’s life. From the minute we were referred for emergency abdominal surgery to two surgeries and multiple visits later, the medical and support team have been nothing short of extraordinary. Deep expertise, compassion, and commitment. Always happy to take a phone call, always knowledgeable, and always empathetic to what the pet owner is feeling. While we live more than an hour away, we will not hesitate to return for any future pet emergencies (hopefully few or better yet, none going forward!). Thank you OakVet - we are so grateful for what each of you do every day.

Excellent emergency service - wait time wasn't as long as other vet hospitals, plus very secure parking and COVID protocol. Most importantly, my pooch felt much better after his visit and we were relieved to find out his diagnosis wasn't too serious!

I feel grateful to have this facility right here in Oakland. The emergency hospital I used in the past was at capacity for this long holiday weekend. The staff were professional, warm and highly skilled. They even answered the phone when I first called rather than a recording. When I had a question about the medication later in the evening they answered the phone and my question right away. The doctor and technicians were clear and reassuring. I’m so relieved my sweet kitty was well taken care of and she’s doing much better today. Thank you, Dr. Nickerson, and staff!

They saw my dog that's about all the happened. I've tried calling for over two weeks to understand what to do, to be helping my dog, and they put me on hold for a long time and after do not return my phone calls. They sent the test results as if I know how to translate them. I payed 850 dollars put my pet and myself through great stress just to get zero support or answers and a big run around for phone calls. I understood if you're under staffed but please don't take on clients if you can't actually provide care. If something serious happens to my service dog and I find out it's because negligence from something that was missed here, I will be devastated. Here an update. I continued to call I finally got a hold of a vet tec, she told me they would have to retest my dog to know what's going on because its been too long since her tests. This is absolutely awful and clearly they are just trying to get money. I wish I had 3k just to throw down, but I just had surgery and I can barely afford to eat now because they took almost 1k from me and didnt tell me antthing.

I brought my dog here because she was bleeding from a spay incision done at a shelter. The wait was long but super worth it! They were so kind and thorough and they followed up with us by email the next day to check in on her which was super sweet. I had to bring her back the next day because she reacted poorly to a medication and they saw her very quickly and didn’t charge us for the appointment which was so kind. If they did preventive care I would leave my regular vet in a heartbeat!

Got my dog in before asking for any money they worked on her and talked finances later and on top of that they charged over 1,000$ less than what other emergency vets were trying to charge go to them with any animals you may have

Had a long wait but know that with emergency vets, the most critical have to be treated first. The staff I encountered were all extremely kind and helpful. I would come here again even though I live in SF - of course it is never something a pet owner wants to experience but it’s nice to know there is a place open at all times that makes having to go through an emergency as painless as possible.

This is the second time we’ve visited OakVet in the last two years and both times doctors and staff went above and beyond to show concern for our little girl kitty, getting her fast and effective treatment, address our concerns and questions… Five stars without a doubt.

Like anyone coming to an emergency vet, I was very stressed. The staff was gracious, calm, thoughtful and professional. My concerns were quickly allayed and there’s a happy Goldendoodle laying on my lap right now.

The doctors are knowledgeable and staff are friendly, but to stay outside in our car for 6-7 hours or maybe more during an emergency is ridiculous. Our first emergency was 3 hours and we didn't know we CANNOT leave the parking lot until after everything is done. My husband and I didn't have food nor water. At least they have a portable toilet outside. I was told it's the same as in human hospitals. NO...not the same! In human hospitals the emergency waiting room is inside the building, have chairs and we can buy food and water from the vending machine. Most of all we're not at the mercy of the elements. It's currently cold now. My point is, the parents of the animals are the one paying the bills, why let them suffer outside the building? Find a way to change this protocol of yours while were still in this pandemic situation.

Excellent diagnoses of an injured dog hit by a vehicle. Unfortunately, fell short of finding and treating all his cuts and wounds. Otherwise, it would have been a five start rating.

These guys are so kind and professional. When my cat had breathing trouble, they immediately jumped in and began making sure he was going to be ok. As I was going through in take they came out to reassure me and give me positive updates. They knew great solutions and were very budget conscious without compromising care. Overall great with people and animals, and just generally very positive while clearly working a hard and difficult job. Thank you!!!! Me and zuko appreciate you.

My little dog was attacked by a coyote in the middle of the night and there weren’t any emergency vets open in San Francisco. I took a Lyft over to OakVet and they met me outside with open arms to take Roscoe into their care. They fixed him up with staples and medications. Their team was very thorough with instructions for home care. Our family will forever be grateful. ????

OakVet Hospital really exceeded your expectations. I had a great experience. I discovered this hospital two weeks ago when I had to take my cat for emergency because he was not eating for almost three days and dehydrated. OakVet, the whole staff took care of everything in a very good way. I highly recommend OakVet.

We took our cat in to be seen after she stopped eating. The staff was excellent, and their service was great. They provided me with a full explanation of what to expect as soon as I got there, and they kept me updated with phone calls and visits out to the car. The Vet provided several courses of action with costs upfront. When asked for his professional recommendations on treatment, the Vet said he'd go with what was the least intrusive, and ultimately, it was spot on. I picked up our cat shortly after treatment and brought her home. As soon as she was out of her carrier, she ran right to the food bowl and began eating. We had never needed emergency pet care before, but when we called our Vet during the day, they were booked till the next day. As our cat's condition worsened after-hours, we came here, per our Vet's recommendation, and we're so happy with the service and care we received and, most importantly, the result of a healthy cat!

I met genuinely kind and concerned people who quickly and helped treat my dog in the middle of the night with no appointment. They quickly and correctly diagnosed the elderly dog's chronic coughing issues. Their treatment plan brought immediate relief to my dog and me. They kept me informed with treatment options and costs so I felt comfortable making good decisions for my dog. If I have future issues with any animal I will feel confident to return here.

I couldn’t get my cat in to see his regular vet and he was developing an abscess. Oak Vet was very professional from beginning to end. Was quicker than they warned me it would be (2 hrs vs 5-6 hrs). They took a complete history after triaging. The vet gave me choices where possible, explaining everything. Great job and they even called and checked on Rocky the next day. If you need emergency care, go here!

The staff was professional and very helpful with providing detail information regarding my dog's injury. The doctor took time from another major injured animal to take time to care for mine.
